6 The Ray Kroc Story If I had a brick for every time I ve repeated the phrase Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value, I think I d probably be able to bridge the Atlantic Ocean with them. Ray Kroc
7 The Ray Kroc Story In 1940, two brothers, Dick and Mac McDonald opened the first McDonald s restaurant in San Bernardino, California. In 1954 Ray Kroc found this small but successful restaurant and was stunned by the effectiveness of their operation.
8 The Ray Kroc Story Kroc pitched his vision of creating McDonald s restaurants all over the U.S. to the brothers. In 1955 he founded the McDonald s Corporation. By 1958, McDonald s had sold its 100 millionth hamburger.

10 The Ray Kroc Story Ray Kroc wanted to build a restaurant system that would be famous for food of consistently high quality and uniform methods of preparation. He wanted to serve burgers, buns, fries and beverages that tasted just the same in Alaska as they did in Alabama.
11 The Ray Kroc Story Ray Kroc believed in the entrepreneurial spirit, and rewarded his franchisees for individual creativity. Many of McDonald s most famous menu items were created by franchisees. McDonald s passion for quality meant that every single ingredient was tested, tasted and perfected.
12 The Ray Kroc Story Ray Kroc was looking for a partnership with McDonald s suppliers and he managed to create the most integrated, efficient and innovative supply system in the food service industry. Many McDonald s suppliers operating today first started business with a handshake from Ray Kroc.
13 Hamburger University In 1961, Ray launched a training program, later called Hamburger University. Awards degree in Hamburgerology
14 The Ray Kroc Story Right up until he died on January 14, 1984, Ray Kroc never stopped working for McDonald's. Even when he was confined to a wheelchair, he still went to work in the office in San Diego nearly every day. Ray Kroc s legacy continues to be an inspirational, integral part of McDonald s today.

16 1940: McDonald's Bar-B-Que Opens Dick and Mac McDonald open McDonald's Bar-B-Que restaurant in San Bernardino. It is a typical drive-in featuring a large menu and car hop service.
17 1948: McDonald's is Founded Dick and Mac McDonald shut down their restaurant for three months for alterations. In December it reopens as a self-service drive-in restaurant. The menu is reduced to nine items The staple of the menu is the15 cent hamburger.
18 1954: Ray Kroc's Trip West Multimixer salesman Ray Kroc visits McDonald's in San Bernardino intending to sell the brothers more Multimixers He learns from the brothers that they are looking for a nationwide franchising agent. Kroc opened first McDonald's Franchise in 1955
19 1966:First Television Commercial Ronald McDonald appears in his first national television commercial. Ronald was an instant hit.
20 1967: McDonald's Goes International The first international McDonald's restaurants open in Canada and Puerto Rico.
21 1984: Ray Kroc Passes Away Ray Kroc, Founder and Senior Chairman of the Board of McDonald's, dies on January 14.
22 2003: I'm lovin' it First global ad campaign, "i'm lovin' it", is launched in Munich, Germany on September 2.
