6 Giving is Receiving Cayman s ARK Due to last year s overwhelming response to ARK s Giving is Receiving Project, we are delighted to be organizing it again this Christmas. Last year, we received over 600 filled shopping bags and thousands of dollars worth of Christmas gifts for hundreds of families struggling in Cayman, especially throughout the festive season. This year, we aim to triple the amount of filled shopping bags and gifts and the great news this year is that we have our own ARK shopping bags! Camana Bay has very generously sponsored our shopping bags and has also offered the Discovery Centre in Camana Bay as an extra pick up/drop off location. Our immediate cause will be focusing on the very serious issue of hunger locally. We intend to make every effort to ensure that we can make available foods and gifts to those that clearly need it during the holiday season. ARK is acutely aware that hunger in Cayman is not just a seasonal problem and we are always working in the community to offer, support, resources and compassion. For this reason, ARK will make sure that a portion of the foods collected will be kept for the ARK Pantry, so when the season is over, we will have plenty of food remaining to carry many families into the Spring. ARK s Giving is Receiving will kick-start on Friday 25th November and the aim is to source as much food and gifts as we can before Friday 9th December. These food bags and gifts will be distributed to families already known to ARK, who are desperately struggling and unable to provide food and gifts for their children. We are also working very closely with a group of women who know the streets and the people who need it. If you know of anyone who is in need PLEASE provide us with their names so we can put them on the growing list. Please contact a member of our ARK team if your firm, company, school, church or as an individual would like to be involved in this fantastic project. Our volunteers would be very happy to drop off shopping bags and collect filled bags at your convenience. Sincere thanks for your Act of Random Kindness and Merry Christmas!
