1 Response of ALS-resistant Alopecurus myosuroides to different herbicide strategies in a crop rotation including imidazolinone-tolerant oilseed rape Anja Löbmann, Jan Petersen

2 Aim of the study Is it possible to integrate CLEARFIELD winter oil-seed rape in a crop rotation without increasing the risk of development of ALS resistant weeds by adapting the herbicide strategy? EWRS Working Group Herbicide Tolerant Varieties 2

3 Materials and Methods field trials: crop rotation with four replications at 2 locations winter oil-seed rape (Ra) winterwheat (WW) winterwheat (SW) seeding defined amounts of: ALOMY: sensitive and resistant Alopecurus myosuroides (ALS 574) at begin of the trial (2014) Herbicide strategies: 1. Use of ALS-inhibitors in all cultures and years 2. Use of ALS-inhibitors only in oil-seed rape 3. Use of ALS-inhibitors in 2 of 3 years 4. No use of ALS-inhibitors EWRS Working Group Herbicide Tolerant Varieties 3

13 Conclusion ALOMY population density depends on site spefic conditions (climate, crop-weed interaction, ) after three years ALOMY is not under control anymore in most treatments in treatment 1 only ALS-inhibitors situation is worst however, CL-OSR does not increase resistance situation driving factor is rotation of MoA in the crop rotation/herbicide strategy (e.g. use of propazamide in oil seed rape) EWRS Working Group Herbicide Tolerant Varieties 13
