2 Why fair trade? - Farming families and planting employees in the developing countries live under the pressure of globalised markets. - A defined and fair price is paid for the products which prevents exploitation of the producers. - Fair trade is an alternative approach to conventional trade which improves and stabilizes the basis existence of farmers and employees. - Fair trade is synonymous with fair prices and good working conditions for the producers and contributes to the development of a fairer world.

4 Certification process with FLO-CERT - ADA Cosmetics International has applied for the certification process of the umbrella organization FLO- CERT in order to receive an official distribution authorization for fair trade. - 6 month after the distribution authorization we need to pass an Audit and after that we will receive an official fair trade certificate which will be valid for 4 years. The certification will also allow us to call ourselves certified company. - This authorization entitles us to: - Purchase fair trade raw materials & use them for producing cosmetics - as well as market fair trade products and claim the used fair trade ingredients on the packaging.

5 Licensing process with TRANSFAIR - For the use of an official Fair Trade Label on product or in communication (Flo-Cert, Max Havelaar) one must apply for a licensing agreement with the organization TransFair must be closed. - Due to this reason we haven't applied for the licensing agreement with TransFair and therefore aren t allowed to use the logos. - Using such a label is not allowed for cosmetic products in the German speaking countries.

10 Fair traded brazil nut oil from Bolivia - The brazil nut tree is a rain forest giant reaching a height up to 60 meters. Due to the symbiotic relationship between animals and plants is still not possible to cultivate the plant. - In the frame of fair trade farmers collect brazil nuts in the rain forest which are ripe and falling down from the tree. Brazil nut oils is extracted by cold-pressing of the nuts. - Preservation of the rain forest and sustainable management of the brazil nut tree need to go side by side. - Use in cosmetics: Brazil nut oil contains antioxidant and vitamin E and has cellstimulating and cell-regenerating characteristics.

11 Fair traded cane sugar from Mauritius - Cane sugar is harvested by small producers in Mauritius that are working independently. It is processed in local factories and fair traded afterwards. - First cane sugar is mashed in a mill which separates the bagasse (=fibrous remains of the sugar production). Cleared, concentrated and kneaded in a crystallizer syrup then turns into sugar. - Use in cosmetics Cane sugar binds moisture in the skin and protects is from dryness.

12 Fair traded organic avocado oil from Kenya - This organic avocado oil is extracted from the pulp of fair traded, Kenyan avocado which are harvested by independently working small farmers in Central and West Kenya. - Use in cosmetics: - High rate of nutrition's and vitamins E, A and D as well as alpha-tocopherol which is an active ingredient for metabolism and skin. - To extract the oil the pulp is once cold and gently pressed - Avocado oil has good hydrating properties and caring properties and is quickly and deeply absorbed by the skin.
