15 LOOSE TEA AND INFUSIONS TASTING NOTES AND PRODUCT CODES 15 Teas from Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal are often known as the champagne of teas. These prized tea leaves are grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, some 6,000ft above sea level. This environment affords the tea a delicate flavour with aromatic notes of grape and floral undertones. Inspired by a traditional Russian recipe, our Orange Spice Samovar is a combination of Chinese black tea, blended with a heartening mix of orange peel, cloves and cinnamon. Warming and exotic, this aromatic tea has a sweet and spicy flavour. Originally only made in the Fujian province of China, Lapsang Souchong is still produced following the ancient method. Leaves are plucked and then withered in bamboo baskets above pinewood embers. This process creates Lapasang s unmistakable smoky flavour and bold aroma. Ceylon teas come from Sri Lanka, which is sometimes referred to as The Pearl of the Indian Ocean. The high altitude and sunny climate make it ideal for tea growing. Assam in North East India is one of only two places in the world where tea plants are native.
