2 Departure/Arrival Instructions The day of the trip, Tuesday, September 28 th : 8:00 am Drop your child and his/her luggage at the High School Circle. Parents wishing to see their child depart must park on Sunnyside or Martling Avenues and walk to the school. DO NOT BLOCK THE HIGH SCHOOL CIRCLE WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!! Friday, October 1 st : Approximate time of arrival 3:00 3:30 pm Arrival will be in the main parking lot at the front of the school. Please park in the spaces to facilitate the arrival of the busses. They can not pull into the parking lot if your cars are blocking the way. 2

Leave them home!!!! 4

5 Rules and Regulations General Activities On camp roads, stay in single file, on one side of the road. There is traffic so be AWARE. Do not alter the forest in any way. Do not throw stones, chase animal life, or destroy delicate flora. No student is to go near the pond unless supervised by an adult. No student is to ever enter the water. No student may return to the cabin areas during any program unless it is deemed an emergency by a teacher. Your return must be accompanied by a counselor with teacher approval. Boys are not to be in the girls area and vice versa. You are here to learn about the environment and the history of the area. You are to remain attentive throughout the entire activity period. Do not talk when the naturalist is speaking. Be an active participant in each activity. I don t want to is not acceptable. On hikes stay with the group, do not run ahead or lag behind. 5

6 Cabins Neither food nor drinks, of any kind, are allowed in the cabins. Do not touch anyone else s personal belongings. In the girls cabins no student is allowed in the loft. Cabin heaters are to be adjusted only by a teacher. Do not leave your mark, or tag, on the walls of the cabin. Dining Hall You will be summoned from the activity area to the dining hall by a bell. Once in the dining hall, only the servers are allowed out of their seats. There is to be no socializing with friends while eating. Meal time is a quiet time. Use your inside voices or talking privileges will be suspended. Eat your meal in a proper and respectable manner. Act as if you are eating at your dining room table or in a restaurant. Do not expect your server to pick up your mess if it is excessive. Any undue messiness will result in a loss of privileges. If a server has an accident, do not laugh or cheer. Their misfortune could be yours at the next meal. 6

8 For Servers Dining Hall Procedures Only one person is to serve for each table at any one meal. Servers will report to the dining hall fifteen (15) minutes before mealtime to set the tables. Breakfast report Lunch report Dinner report 7:45am 11:45am 5:15 pm Set the table according to the sample setting provided near the kitchen door. Keep the serving tray throughout the meal. After the tables are set, servers will stay at the tables until the dining room coordinator tells you to pick up the food. Only the server will go to the food service area. Server will insure that the appropriate silverware is kept at the table for dessert. Return unused food to the service counter. At the table, scrape food from all plates onto one plate. Take the dishes and silverware to the kitchen. There are individual, soap-filled containers for the forks, spoons and knives. After leaving dishes, pick up dessert at the food service counter. After dessert, return all dirty dishes, etc. to the kitchen and pick up sponges for cleaning off the table. Before leaving the bucket and sponge area, wring out the sponge in the bucket. Do not bring a dripping sponge out of the kitchen area. After sponging off the table, stack the chairs next to the table and sweep the floor around and under your table. Observe the in and out sides of the kitchen door. This is for your safety! 8

11 BUG PROTECTION There are products on the market to minimize the exposure to flying insects. Most are made of fine no-see-um netting. Any local outdoor/camping store will have them on the shelves.
