1 June Calendar of Events Sun. MAY 31 CAPTAIN GRIZZY POKER RUN Join the 7th Annual Capt. Grizzy Scholarship Poker Run for Bikes, Jeeps, Convertibles & Hot Rods in remembrance of Dennis Griswold. Dennis was one of the founders of The Friends of Lake Pocotopaug, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the water quality of the lake. Unfortunately, we all lost a friend when Dennis passed away on August 27, In remembrance of Dennis, a scholarship has been established and awarded annually to an East Hampton student who is pursuing a higher education in environmental science. This is a scenic 80 mile run. Last year we had over 250 riders. This year s ride starts at Loco Perro, East Hampton and then makes stops at the Recovery Room, New London, Lyme Tavern, Niantic, Town Tavern, East Haddam and ends at Angelico s Lake House in East Hampton. Starting Location: Loco Perro, 191 East High Street, East Hampton Departure: Anytime between 10:30-12:00pm Final Location: Angelico s Lake House, 81 North Main Street, East Hampton Party: Free Buffet (for riders) at the end of the ride at Angelico s Lake House Restaurant Music: Johnny5 Prizes: Prizes for the best and worst hand. /50/50 Raffle For information contact Kamey via kamey@att.net, or call Steve at (860) BELMONT STAKES PARTY Saturday, June 6, 5:00pm. Join us for the 147th annual Belmont Stakes as American Pharaoh attempts the first Triple Crown win since 1978! We ll be serving Mint Juleps and other Race Day Cocktails for $5.00. We ll also offer a three-course prix fixe menu which will include a Hot Brown, (an openfaced turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese and tomato sandwich made famous in in the 1920s), along w/ Key Lime pie & the drink of your choice for $ So who s Your Pick?? 2 June 7, Sunday BLESSING OF THE FLEET Calling all boaters!! Bring your boat and rendezvous at Angelico s Lake House docks at 1:00PM. We will navigate a scenic cruise around beautiful Lake Pocotopaug. At the conclusion of the cruise (approximately 2:00pm) Father Brian from St Patrick s Church will bless the Lake Pocotopaug Fleet. Dock your boat at the Lake House docks or at the Happiest Paddler and party afterwards in our Beer Garden. Every boat captain that participates in the Blessing will receive a FREE BBQ COOKOUT COUPON for lunch at the conclusion of the Blessing. There will be drink and food specials and we ll be Grillin in the Beer Garden. And you don t need to own a boat to join in the fun you just have to want to enjoy Sweet Summertime. Music provided by Moto Reggae Band. PAINT PARTY Tuesday June 9, 7-9:15pm Complete a finished 16 x20 painting in a fun and stress free environment with all materials provided. Relax in one of the new couches or eat at one of the picnic tables. There are 3 gas fire pits, Adirondack chairs and Tiki torches to make you think you re on a tropical island. We re also having a Hawaiian Luau Pig Roast. There will be $3.00 Red Stripe Beers specials plus a $15.00 authentic Island Pig Roast Buffet. In addition to the pig there will be a full buffet loaded with BBQ Chicken, pulled pork, and other island delights. There will be drawings for tickets to the Travelers PGA Golf Tournament, plus other raffle prizes, free t-shirts and Gift Cards. Reggae music provided by Moon Juice.
