14 Jackson Jets SCRIP Program What is the SCRIP Program? Scrip is a fundraising program that costs you NOTHING to use. Why? The merchants participating in the program contribute a part of their profit (ranging from 2-25%) to the program. When you order scrip, you will receive a scrip certificate/debit card in the amount specified on the scrip order form. What is a SCRIP certificate/debit card and what does it look like? Scrip looks just like any gift certificate/debit card. Merchants issue either a plastic debit style card or a paper certificate from their business. On a debit card no change is given. You simply have a remaining balance (computerized by the merchant) on the card until the entire amount is used. Most merchants give the change back on paper certificates, but this is dependent upon store policy. How does the SCRIP program work? Example: You order a $ Walmart scrip card. You pay $ for the scrip, no more- no less. The scrip committee buys the debit card for you. Walmart gives a 2% discount, so the SCRIP program pays $98.00 for the debit card and has a profit of $2.00. Your debit card is worth $ and the SCRIP program uses the $2.00 profit to purchase materials needed to benefit your child s education. When does the certificate/debit card expire? Most the certificates are good for 1 year from the date of issue. Some don t have expiration dates. How can I use SCRIP? There are over 100 merchants who participate in the scrip program. Use scrip for groceries, clothing, dining out, birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, holidays etc Scrip makes gift giving easier! Please Consider Using the SCRIP Program. It cost you nothing extra & profits benefit every child here at Jackson Elementary. Where does the money raised go? We are currently giving scrip proceeds to a technology fund for the library/media center where it is greatly needed, and benefits EVERY child. The library receives the bulk of its financial support from this program. Who do I contact with questions? Please contact us with any questions or concerns Lori Weber or lori_a_weber@hotmail.com & Cindy Becker or cindy31470@aol.com 4 Ways to Order SCRIP 1: Order from SCRIP order Forms. Order forms are sent home twice per month with Thursday information your child receives. They are also located on the Jackson school website under the PTA tab, look for SCRIP. Fill out the order forms and send a check made payable to Jackson PTA SCRIP by the following Tuesday. Your order will be available for pick-up or sent home with your child that Thursday. Cash is acceptable, but checks are preferred.

15 Jackson Jets SCRIP Program When you receive your first order it will be in a manila envelope with the scrip and a receipt of your order. PLEASE return your next order form and payment in the same manila envelope, which will have your name, child s name, teacher s name and your phone number on it. This is a safeguard to you. *Please be sure to tell your child that you are sending the order with them and to give it to their teachers*. You may also personally deliver the order form to the school office by 9 A.M. Tuesday morning. 2: PrestoPay: A Secure, Online Way to Pay for Scrip PrestoPay lets you pay for your ShopWithScrip orders online no more dropping off checks!
