Gotemba City by Rika Kasama I live in Gotemba City.

Firstly I would like to introduce the Chichibu-no-miya Memorial Park.

The symbol of this park, a white pagoda, keeps some Buddhist relics that were presented by the first Indian Prime Minister Nehru, after his visit to Japan in 1957.

There are the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of Mt Fuji. The opening ceremony is held in the entrance for climbers on July 1st every year.

1 Gotemba City by Rika Kasama I live in Gotemba City. Gotemba is famous for the Gotemba Premium Outlet, but it is also famous for the Chichibu-no-miya Memorial Park and the Gotemba Peace Park. Firstly I would like to introduce the Chichibu-no-miya Memorial Park. This was a villa where Chichibu-no-miya Yasuhito, a member of the imperial family, lived with his wife, during and after the war. Next I would like to introduce the Gotemba Peace Park. The symbol of this park, a white pagoda, keeps some Buddhist relics that were presented by the first Indian Prime Minister Nehru, after his visit to Japan in Recently many tourists from eastern Asia visit here. The park also has Myoho temple and a Japanese garden. Let's look at some events in Gotemba. There are the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of Mt Fuji. The opening ceremony is held in the entrance for climbers on July 1st every year. The purpose of the ceremony is to pray for the safety of the climbers. In the closing ceremony we appreciate the blessing Mt Fuji gave to us. The famous local food in Gotemba is Mikuriya Soba. Mikuriya is the old name of Gotemba. Mikuriya Soba consists of Japanese soba noodles with chicken, carrots and Japanese mushrooms. The soba is made from yam, buckwheat flour and water. My favorite restaurant is Toraya Kobo. This restaurant is on a corner of a residence where the former prime minister, Nobusuke Kishi, lived for 17 years. It serves seasonal food and Japanese cakes in wooden boxes.

Blitar City, Indonesia The population of Indonesia is over 250 million people, making it the world's fourth most populous country.

There are 6 official religions in Indonesia: Islam(87%), Protestant (7%), Catholic (3%), Hindu (1.5%), Buddhist (0.7%) and Confucianism (0.01%). I live in Blitar. Blitar is a city in East Java.

about 1 hour, and from Malang you can take a bus or train to Blitar City in about 1.5 hours. Blitar City has several temples from the Majaphit Empire era, and the temples are known as Pentaran.

Dr Soekarno was the first President of Indonesia. Near this grave we can visit the Soekarno library, where we can see and read the collections of President Soekarno.

2 Blitar City, Indonesia The population of Indonesia is over 250 million people, making it the world's fourth most populous country. There are more than 300 ethnic groups, each with cultural identities developed over centuries, and influenced by Indian, Arabic, Chinese and European sources, spread over 6,000 islands. There are 6 official religions in Indonesia: Islam(87%), Protestant (7%), Catholic (3%), Hindu (1.5%), Buddhist (0.7%) and Confucianism (0.01%). I live in Blitar. Blitar is a city in East Java. If you want to go to Blitar you can fly from Narita Airport, Haneda Airport or Kansai Airport to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Indonesia, and from there you can go to Malang City by plane, about 1 hour, and from Malang you can take a bus or train to Blitar City in about 1.5 hours. Blitar City has several temples from the Majaphit Empire era, and the temples are known as Pentaran. This is the largest and most important Hindu temple complex in East Java. It lies just 10km north of the city. by Candra Adinatha Blitar City is also noted as the location of the grave of 'Soekarno'. Dr Soekarno was the first President of Indonesia. Near this grave we can visit the Soekarno library, where we can see and read the collections of President Soekarno. Tambakrejo Beach is one of many beaches in Blitar City. It is located in south Blitar, and is about 35km from the city center. On this beach in Suro, the New Year in the Javanese calendar, is performed a Larang Sesaji ceremony, and the beach is visited by thousands of people. The most typical food in Blitar is nasi percel, rice with vegetables in a spicy peanut sauce, and we usually eat this in the morning before starting our daily activities. It is very healthy and so delicious. If you come to Indonesia please visit Blitar.

Tangerang City, Indonesia by Indra Setiawan My home country is Indonesia. It is a big country, an archipelago that consists of thousands of islands.

Because of this it has many tropical fruits like banana, starfruit and rambutan that do not grow in Japan, while some fruit that grows in Japan does not grow in Indonesia.

Indonesia has about 300 ethnic groups with their own cultures, traditions and languages. So even on the same island you might be faced with totally different traditions and languages.

It is a big industrial city with over 1,000 factories. Because of its closeness to Jakarta many people commute to Jakarta for work or vice-versa.

3 Tangerang City, Indonesia by Indra Setiawan My home country is Indonesia. It is a big country, an archipelago that consists of thousands of islands. Most Indonesian people live on Java Island, but the best known island is Bali. Indonesia is a tropical country. It is always warm, in fact you could rather call it hot all the year. Because of this it has many tropical fruits like banana, starfruit and rambutan that do not grow in Japan, while some fruit that grows in Japan does not grow in Indonesia. There are only two seasons in a year, the rainy season and the dry season, and you can swim all year round at a pool or beach. Indonesia has about 300 ethnic groups with their own cultures, traditions and languages. So even on the same island you might be faced with totally different traditions and languages. My hometown is a city called Tangerang. It is a pretty big city near Jakarta, the Indonesian capital city, located in Java Island. Tangerang has a large population of about 2,000,000 people. It is a big industrial city with over 1,000 factories. Because of its closeness to Jakarta many people commute to Jakarta for work or vice-versa. Tangerang also has a significant community of Chinese Indonesians, and there is a big Chinatown where you can find a lot of Chinese food. In Tangerang there is an interesting food called ketoprak, which is a vegetarian dish, consisting of sliced fried tofu, lontong, steamed rice cake, cucumber, vermicelli and beansprouts, served in a peanut and soy sauce, topped with deep-fried crackers and shallots. You should try it. Ketoprak is typical street food. The seller prepares the dish in front of the customers, and the customer may request that the dish be mild, medium or spicy. The seller walks around residential areas with his cart, hitting a plate with a spoon to attract customers. An interesting part of ketoprak is the lontong, a compressed rice cake in the form of a cylinder wrapped inside a banana leaf. The outer parts of the lontong have a greenish color because of the chlorophyll left by the banana leaf. If you want to try this delicious food don't forget to visit Tangerang when you go to Indonesia.

Numazu City by Makiko Sano Numazu City is famous for oranges and tea. The oranges are called 'Nishiura mikan'.

Numazu has four kinds of tea: yabukita, saemidori, tsuyuhikari and okuhikari. Numazu is also famous for Numazu Port, which faces deep Suruga Bay.

Numazu Port has the first deep sea aquarium in the world which collects deep-sea fish. There is also a coelacanth which is called a 'live fossil'.

They are produced not in Numazu, but in the cente of Izu, but they are sold in Nishiura, Numazu, so that is why they are called Nishiura oranges. Many fishermen go to Suruga Bay and catch whitebait, using nets. I recommend trying 'hamayaki shinchan' because we can enjoy fresh scallop and abalone. In addition Numazu has Ashitaka beef, one of the most delicious in Japan. Ashitaka cows grow up eating special feed on the foot of Mt Ashitaka. Mt Ashitaka is very beautiful. Climbers can enjoy the blooms of Ashitaka azalea and white dogwood. The Numazu Festival is held for two days at the end of July. It is unusual in that fireworks are displayed in a city center. The festival has been held since 1948 as a revival event of the shopping mall damaged in World War II.

5 Numazu City by Hirona Kobayashi To the person visiting Numazu for the first time, please spend all day long because it is a place you can enjoy. The most popular of all sightseeing places is Numazu Port. There are a lot of seafood restaurants and an aquarium. It is an aquarium of rare deep-sea fish in Japan. In addition a cruising experience is possible around Numazu Port There are many festivals and events in Numazu, especially the Numazu Festival and the Toronagashi Festival. The Numazu Festival is the most famous. It is held on the last Saturday and Sunday of July. One day before is held the Toronagashi Festival. There are a lot of stalls and beautiful fireworks will rise out from the river. An omikoshi float is carried by local people. It is a festival that many people are looking forward to. I would like to recommend some food shops: Uogashi Maruten, Kaniya and Takedamaru. Here you can get dried horse mackerel fish, seafood, green tea, cherry shrimp and Numazu don. Uogashi Maruten is often reported on television. You can also get very big kakiage, a kind of deep-fried vegetables with small prawns, which is very famous. I would also like to recommend Manyo-no-yu restaurant, which has a hot spring. In the restaurant we can eat grilled fish, as much as we like. It costs 3,880 to eat grilled fish with admission to the hot spring included. I think it is very reasonable.

Shizuoka City by Narumi Tagata Shizuoka City is beautiful, surrounded with mountains and the sea. Shizuoka City is also very convenient because it has a Shinkansen station.

Daidogei is a street performers festival, and is held in Sumpu Park and all around the city at the end of October and the beginning of November every year.

During the festival city is very lively and full of excitement. Two sightseeing spots are Nihondaira Zoo, with its famous lesser pandas, and Hirono Coast Park.

6 Shizuoka City by Narumi Tagata Shizuoka City is beautiful, surrounded with mountains and the sea. Shizuoka City is also very convenient because it has a Shinkansen station. It takes about one hour from Shizuoka to Tokyo by Shinkansen We have a big event called Daidougei in Shizuoka City. Daidogei is a street performers festival, and is held in Sumpu Park and all around the city at the end of October and the beginning of November every year. Many performers from all over the world come to Shizuoka to give their performances in Daidougei. Many visitors come to Shizuoka to enjoy the performances. During the festival city is very lively and full of excitement. Two sightseeing spots are Nihondaira Zoo, with its famous lesser pandas, and Hirono Coast Park. Hirono Coast Park has a 'pirate's ship', with athletic events on a model castaway ship. We can also play a variety of sports on a wide, green lawn. The sea is in front of the park. Many families enjoy it here on holidays. Famous fruit in Shizuoka is orange, and famous food is whitebait. We can eat fresh whitebait in Mochimune Port. It is very delicious. A nice restaurant is 'Uoyanagahisa'. It is in Cenova, near Shin Shizuoka station. Many people enjoy eating raw fish with good service. I recommend 'Odeco'. This is a cafe-bar. They serve some dishes like pasta and hamburger at lunchtime, and wine and side dishes in the evenings. We can relax there. The guests feel comfortable because Odeco is sophisticated and spacious. We can also see the staff cooking the dishes. The branch shop 'Oheso' is also popular.
