25 48 TECHNICAL INFORMATION TECHNICAL INFORMATION 49 Resistances Monsanto has exercised reasonable care and skill in compiling this catalogue. The varieties with disease resistance claims have been tested for specified disease resistance. All resistances quoted refer only to races or pathotypes at the variety. It is important to recognise that the response of resistant plants to pests or pathogens can vary according to host age and depend on environmental factors. New and/or atypical pest or pathogen biotypes, races, or strains may overcome resistance, sometimes completely. The descriptions, advice, resistance claims and vegetation cycles that are presented in this product guide are intended for general guidance only. The user should apply it in accordance with knowledge and experience of local conditions. Monsanto follows International Seed Federation (ISF) recommendations concerning Resistance Codes. Resistant varieties may exhibit some disease symptoms or damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure. Two levels of resistance are defined. High/Standard Resistance (HR): plant varieties that highly restrict the growth and development of the specified pest or pathogen under normal pest or pathogen pressure when compared to susceptible varieties. These plant varieties may, however, exhibit some symptoms or damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure. Moderate/Intermediate Resistance (IR): plant varieties that restrict the growth and development of the specified pest or pathogen, but may exhibit a greater range of symptoms or damage compared to high/standard resistant varieties. Moderately/intermediately resistant plant varieties will still show less severe symptoms or damage than susceptible plant varieties when grown under similar environmental conditions and/or pest or pathogen pressure.
