1 68 ISOPYRAZAM (49) The first drft ws prepred by Dr G Ye, Institute for the Control of Agrochemicls, Ministry of Agriculture, Beijing Chin EXPLANATION is brod-spectrum folir fungicide belonging to the chemicl clss of ortho-substituted phenyl mides. It controls wide rnge of fungl pthogens. ws first evluted by the JMPR s new compound in ±. An ADI of.6 mg/kg bw/dy nd n ARfD of. mg/kg bw were estblished. The residue definitions were estblished: for complince with MRL for plnt commodities: (sum of syn-isomer nd nti-isomer); for risk ssessment for plnt commodities: Sum of isopyrzm nd -difluoromethyl--methyl-h-pyrzole-4-crboxylic cid [9-(-hydroxyl-- methylethyl)-(rs, 4RS, 9RS)-,,,4-tetrhydro-,4-methnonphthlen-5-yl] mide (CSCD459488) expressed s isopyrzm; for niml commodities (enforcement nd risk ssessment): (sum of syn-isomer nd nti-isomer). The residue is ft-soluble. ws scheduled by the 48 th Session of the CCPR s dditionl MRLs for considertion by the JMPR. The Meeting received informtion on registered lbels nd supporting residue trils dt for pome fruit, stone fruit, cucurbits, pepper, tomto, crrot, brley, whet, oilseed rpe nd penut, s well s storge stbility of isopyrzm nd CSCD during processing. Storge stbility under frozen conditions The Meeting received study report on storge stbility of metbolite CSCD Residues in Crops stored deep frozen for up to 8 Months (Gemrot, F.,, Report No. T495-5-). The stbility of CSCD residues ws tested between nd in whet grin nd strw, oilseed rpe (seed), pple fruit, lentils seed, ornge fruit, spinch leves nd crrot root, covering representtives of ll five crop types i.e. predominntly high wter, cid, oil, protein nd strch contining mterils. g crop smples were fortified with known mount of CSCD in cetonitrile t rte of.5 mg/kg. The solvent ws llowed to evporte nd the smples seled nd stored in freezer t nominl temperture of - ± 5 C. The initil concentrtion ws determined by nlysis of three freshly-prepred fortified smples. At subsequent storge s of pproximtely, 6,, nd 8 months smple set of ech substrte, consisting of control smple, two freshly fortified smples nd two freezer-stored fortified smples, were nlysed for residues of CSCD using method GRM6.A. The test results re shown in tble.there ws no significnt chnge in the residue level of CSCD in ny commodity during the 8 month storge period. Therefore, residues of CSCD re expected to be stble in ll crop commodities when stored t - ± 5 C for t lest 8 months. A high-temperture hydrolysis study to investigte the nture of residues in processed commodities ws lso evluted by the JMPR. ws concluded to be hydrolyticlly stble under conditions representtive of psteuristion, bking/brewing/boiling nd sterilistion. The Meeting received informtion on processing studies on crrot, tomto, pple, oilseed rpe hve been conducted. Processing of pples The effect of processing on residues of isopyrzm in pples ws studied (Oppillirt, S., 9, Report No. T964--). Two residue field trils were conducted in southern Frnce during 8. The pples were treted with pplictions of 5 g/l isopyrzm EC t rte of g i/h with sevendy s. Seven dys fter the finl ppliction, smples (~9 kg) of treted nd untreted fruit were hrvested from ech tril nd trnsported t mbient temperture to the processing fcility. In ddition, fruit (~ kg) were frozen for residue nlysis. Apple fruit ws processed into suce, juice, cnned fruit nd dried fruit. Suce Approximtely 6 kg of treted fruit ws used for processing to suce: ws thoroughly wshed with wter nd strined. Wshed fruit ws blnched in boiling wter for minutes to void enzymtic browning. Blnched fruit ws crushed with n electric crusher nd sieved to seprte the puree from the peel nd pips. The Brix degree of the rw puree ws mesured, sugr dded nd the puree ws reduced by heting in double jcket sucepn to obtin Brix degree of 4%. The ph of the suce ws mesured, the suce ws pckged into glss jrs, sterilised t 5/ C for minutes nd cooled. Juice: Approximtely 5 kg of treted fruit ws used for processing to juice: ws thoroughly wshed with wter nd strined. Wshed fruit ws crushed with n electric crusher, pressed nd the juice

32 seprted from the pomce. The wet pomce ws dried in n oven t 6 C for two dys. Pectolytic enzymes (. ml/l) were dded to the juice which ws left to settle for t lest hours. The juice ws rcked from the deposits, filtered over trimming pltes using filtrtion unit under nitrogen pressure. The ph of the juice ws mesured nd the juice ws psteurised t 85 C for t lest minute nd cooled. Cnned fruit: Approximtely kg of treted fruit ws used for processing to cnned fruit. ws thoroughly wshed with wter nd strined. Wshed fruit ws peeled nd the peeled fruit blnched in boiling wter for pproximtely two minutes. The blnched fruit ws cored nd cut into pieces. Scchrose syrup (% sugr, ph ~.5) ws dded to the cored fruits t one third syrup to two thirds fruit, nd the mixture seled in cns. Dried fruit: Approximtely kg of treted fruit ws used for processing to dried fruit. ws thoroughly wshed with wter nd strined. Wshed fruit ws cored nd cut into prts, then sliced into mm thick pieces with mndolin. Apple slices were plced on siliconised pper in n oven t 6 C until fully dried nd turned over dily. Two blnce studies nd two follow-up studies were crried out on ech process.
