1 DISCOVERY PACKAGES Suggestions for groups These sample packages will give you an idea of what s on offer and how it all works: they have been designed to provide inspiration for group leaders and generate requests for tailor-made packages and adjustments for different budgets, times of year and requirements. 3 Package 1: Between Thau and the Mediterranean Day two: One of the two Gourmands en Occitanie (Gourmets in Occitanie) guides (Emmanuelle and Maxime), who created the package, welcomes the group over a coffee in the cellar at Marseillan port, and then accompanies them throughout this day organised by Les Caves Richemer am: Presentation on Les Caves Richemer and the winemaking process The emphasis is on white wines. Les Caves Richemer produce 65% white wines, 25% rosés and 10% reds. All the wines belong to the Pays d Oc or Côtes de Thau IGPs. Their iconic varieties are Terret blanc and Marselan. Terret is an old grape variety: it is vigorous and can withstand spring frosts. It is a late-ripening variety. Conversely, Marselan is a newer variety (1961). It was created by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache and combines the best qualities of both am: Visit to the Belvédère de la Criée d Agde with Jenna. This fishing museum offers a fascinating insight into the world of commercial fishing: learn how to recognise fleets and their methods, find out about products and meet people who work in the fish market pm: Tasting session in an oyster farm The meal consists of the farm s own produce: mussels, raw and cooked oysters... washed down with Les Caves Richemer wines pm: Visit to the Bagnas nature reserve to explore the wetlands which help to make the Caves Richemer vineyards so unique. The excursion - which is led by a guide from the ADENA association (Association de Défense de l Environnement et de la Nature des pays d Agde - Protection of the Environment and Nature of the Pays d Agde Association) - combines the appreciation of different habitats with human activities and their impact on the environment. Some quiet time is set aside for admiring the flora and birdwatching pm: Winetasting workshop at the Marseillan-Plage cellar, organised jointly by the Belvédère de la Criée d Agde fishing museum and Les Caves Richemer. Rillettes, tartares and other processed products from Agde fish market are paired with Les Caves Richemer wines. For a gourmet break, Les Caves Richemer grape juice and sparkling wines are served and, to end on a sweet note, participants can enjoy biscuits and madeleines from the La Cure Gourmande confectionery company which has its head office in Balaruc-les-Bains.

Package 2: A journey through the history of Agde Day one: Participants meet for a welcome coffee at the wine cellar in Marseillan port before embarking on a boat trip.

The wine cellar is located in the port and has its own private jetty. 10 am: The boat trip begins with a visit to the Étang de Thau and its oyster beds.

At the Les Onglous lighthouse, the boat enters the Canal du Midi, passes through the round lock and then heads towards the River Hérault for a cruise down to the coast and a chance to view Le Grau

They are served with Les Caves Richemer Terre & Mer (Land & Sea) white wine.

4 Package 2: A journey through the history of Agde Day one: Participants meet for a welcome coffee at the wine cellar in Marseillan port before embarking on a boat trip. This is an opportunity to meet one of the two Gourmands en Occitanie guides, Emmanuelle and Maxime, who will tell the story of Les Caves Richemer. The wine cellar is located in the port and has its own private jetty. 10 am: The boat trip begins with a visit to the Étang de Thau and its oyster beds. Participants learn about the shellfish farming industry - mussels and oysters, obviously, and also snails, known as poivres, and seahorses. At the Les Onglous lighthouse, the boat enters the Canal du Midi, passes through the round lock and then heads towards the River Hérault for a cruise down to the coast and a chance to view Le Grau d Agde and Cap d Agde from the sea pm: The visit to Agde begins in a restaurant which specialises in Mediterranean fish dishes. They are served with Les Caves Richemer Terre & Mer (Land & Sea) white wine. 3 pm: An after-lunch stroll to the Belvédère de la Criée d Agde fishing museum to watch the boats arrive and an opportunity to watch the auction through the museum s windows. The Belvédère tells the whole story of fishing in the Mediterranean: the men and women who have chosen the profession, their boats, the fish they catch and cook, and local recipes. 6 pm: Time to settle in at the Hotel Palmyra, which is situated alongside the 27-hole Golf International du Cap d Agde golf course, and enjoy a stroll around the port and along the beach before dinner.

Package 2: A journey through the history of Agde Day two: 10 am: The day begins with a visit to the Musée de l Ephèbe et d archéologie sous-marine (underwater archaeology museum) in Cap d Agde.

12 noon: An appetite-building stroll, with a guide from the ADENA association, to learn all about the characteristics, landscapes and history of the Domaine de Maraval, is followed by a meal served

If the weather is not suitable, the meal is served in the historic Marseillan-Plage cellar which was built in 1950 by the architect Paul Brès.

5 Package 2: A journey through the history of Agde Day two: 10 am: The day begins with a visit to the Musée de l Ephèbe et d archéologie sous-marine (underwater archaeology museum) in Cap d Agde. This recaps the themes of the day before and, in particular, showcases fifty years of discoveries related to the history of Agde from the River Hérault, the sea and the Étang de Thau. 12 noon: An appetite-building stroll, with a guide from the ADENA association, to learn all about the characteristics, landscapes and history of the Domaine de Maraval, is followed by a meal served at the Domaine by Jacques Vinas, the chef at the Guinguette. He creates inspired seasonal dishes to complement Domaine de Maraval wines. If the weather is not suitable, the meal is served in the historic Marseillan-Plage cellar which was built in 1950 by the architect Paul Brès. The Domaine de Maraval belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral and is managed by the Association de Défense de l Environnement et de la Nature des pays d Agde. The 28-hectare estate is currently being converted to organic practices. After lunch, there is a chance to meet winemakers from Les Caves Richemer and talk about Terret blanc, the grape variety which pairs perfectly with Mediterranean fish and shellfish from the Étang de Thau. The group is joined by a guide from the ADENA association on a visit to the Bagnas nature reserve to explore the wetlands which, being so close to the Mediterranean, create the exceptional conditions in which Domaine de Maraval wines are produced. The day ends at the nearby Marseillan-Plage cellar. There, participants have the option of a comparative tasting session featuring different Les Caves Richemer wines. Others may prefer to borrow a bike and cycle for 500 metres on the track to reach the Canal du Midi and the Les Onglous lighthouse. Or they may choose to take a stroll on the beach or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the historic Richemer cellar.
