2 CORDERO DI MONTEZEMOLO Piedmonte, Italy Since 1340, 19 generations one after another, have managed the Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra, the center of the production of Barolo wine. Even today, the property is entirely family-run. Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his children Elena and Alberto are the protagonists of this millennium. The historical single-body vineyard area of 28 hectares (69 acres), rare for the area, extends over all sides of the hill. The land has always been cultivated with the various local varieties, selected and distinctly planted according to sun exposure, type of soil and the altitude.

6 FARNESE Abruzzi, Italy The name Farnese is one of Italy s most illustrious. In Renaissance times, this noble family s wines made scintillating appearances on the banquet tables of numerous European courts thanks to Princess Marguerite Farnese (nee Marguerite of Austria, an Emperor s daughter). In gratitude to the Farneses, successive owners today, Valentino Sciotti maintained the ancient name.

10 SINGLE VINEYARD CASALE VECCHIO PECORINO TERRE DI CHIETI IGT Straw yellow with greenish reflections. Aromas include all white pulp fruit especially pears. You can smell balsamic notes that reveal the good quality of the wood. This wine immediately reveals great structure. Partial malolactic fermentation gives the wine a fascinating taste but does not affect the freshness of the product, given by a good acidity. Aftertaste is intense and persistent. GRAPE 100% Pecorino. DON CAMILLO SANGIOVESE IGT Intense ruby red. Fruity, with notes of jam and cherry preserved in alcohol scent, spicy notes of liquorice, aromas of vanilla and faded flowers scent. Full bodied, good tannins, with a pleasant sour aftertaste, ready to drink. CASALE VECCHIO MONTEPULCIANO D ABRUZZO DOC Strong ruby red with garnet highlights. 12 MONTEPORZIO Alban Hills, Italy Frascati is an Italian white wine from the region of Frascati, (name of the town 25km from Rome) in Lazio, Italy. Archeological discoveries from the ancient town of Tusculum, now Frascati, demonstrate the cultivation of grapes for wine since the 5th century B.C. it was one of the preferred wines of Ancient Rome, then of the Renaissance Popes, (Caravaggio would have drunk Frascati wine in his favourite Hostaria), Poets and artists visiting on the Grand Tour 1700s and 1800s, and in the 1960s of the Dolce Vita, if there is a wine that is synonymous with Rome, it is Frascati.

Attractive and refreshing on the palate with a long and persistent finish, and an almondy twist at the end. BONACOSTA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO DOC Bright red with violet reflections. Attractive berry fruit, cherries and cloves on the nose. The palate reveals good structure with the fruitiness first seen on nose, and firm acidity. Long finish. COSTASERA AMARONE CLASSICO DOCG Bright, intense ruby red. Prominent bouquet of ripe berry fruit, sweet and bitter cherries, and hints of plums tinged with spices, such as cinnamon and cloves. Intense and distinctive on the palate, full bodied and attractive, with the richness of the alcohol content well balanced by good supporting acidity. The tannins are well integrated and pervasive, and the long finish brings the fruitiness and spiciness first noticed on the nose to the fore. 23 LE COLLEZIONI SERIES PINOT GRIGIO IGT AREA OF ORIGIN Veneto region. TASTING NOTE The wine has a straw yellow color and, on the nose, it offer floral sensation that recall the aroma of acacia blossom, with hints of pears as well. Its flavour is intense and very well-balanced, with fruity notes of apples and pears. SOAVE IGT AREA OF ORIGIN Vineyards of the Soave area, located in the north east of Verona. The soil is silty-clay predominantly limestone. Light straw yellow with a greenish nuances. This wine, on the nose, displays fragrances of fruit and white flowers, with hints of golden delicious apples and almonds. Delicate and medium bodied, well balanced and refreshing, it will appeal to even the most discerning of palates. 117

24 LE COLLEZIONI SERIES MERLOT IGT AREA OF ORIGIN Veneto and Friuli. The soil is deep alluvial on well exposed hills. Intense red. It displays inviting scents of blackcurrants with hints of plums and herbaceous notes. On the palate it has particularly rounded fruit, underpinned by velvety tannins and with great length and persistence. VALPOLICELLA DOC AREA OF ORIGIN Vineyards located in the Valpolicella hills in the north of Verona. The soil is alluvial and calcareous with clay. Medium bodied red. Pronounced bouquet of raspberries and other red fruits. On the palate it is tangy and well balanced, with brisk acidity and a long finish. 118

25 FAMIGLIA SERIES SOAVE IGT AREA OF ORIGIN Vineyards of the Soave area, located in the North-East of Verona. The soil is of volcanic origin, deep with clay on flatland. Yellow with a tinge of green. Perfumes of golden apple and apricot, with sweet notes of flowers. Balanced on the palate with an aftertaste of almond, which is characteristic of Garganega variety. VALPOLICELLA DOC AREA OF ORIGIN Vineyards located on the hillside areas of Valpantena, north eastern part of Valpolicella. The soil is calcareous, flaky debris, and prevalently pebbly. Ruby red. This wine offers intense fruity aromas of wild cherries, vanilla and hints of toasting. A rich, full-bodied wine, round and warm on the palate. AMARONE DELLA VAPOLICELLA DOCG AREA OF ORIGIN Vineyards located on the hillside areas of Valpantena, north eastern part of Valpolicella. The soil is calcareous, flaky debris and prevalently pebbly. Deep ruby red. This is an elegant wine with fragrances of currants, blackberries and sweet almonds on the nose with notes of vanilla. Warm and rich with polished, silky tannins and a long finish. 119

26 ROMEO & JULIET PASSIONE SENTIMENTO PASSIONE BIANCO GRAPE VARIETIES Garganega 100%. VINIFICATION This white wine is obtained with the appassimento technique: the Garganega grapes are harvested in advance, left to dry in trays for a short time to lose weight, concentrating sugar and aromas. They then macerate for 12 hours to enhance complexity and structure. At the end of the fermentation a part of the wine is matured in wooden barrels for some months before blending and bottling. STYLE An alluring white wine. Intense aromas of citrus fruits, almond and peaches on the nose, followed by a palate which is refreshing and well balanced with a lingering finish. PASSIONE ROSSO GRAPE VARIETIES Dried grapes of Merlot 40%, Corvina 30%, Croatina 30% VINIFICATION The Merlot and Corvina grapes are selected and hand harvested with great care, then left to dry for a month in wooden trays. In thiis dry and well ventilated environment where the humidity level is carefully controlled, the grapes lose around 30% of their water content and gain high sugar concentration. The vinification process takes place in separate steel tanks. Maturation in oak tonneaux (at second use) for 3 months. The grapes are blended and malolactic fermentation follows to harmonize and soften the wine. STYLE Deep ruby red in colour. The nose has intense aromas of red berries with hints of spices. The palate is balanced with velvety tannins, and it has a soft and round finish. 120

31 POLETTI Emilia Romagna, Italy The company was founded by Aurelio Poletti in As a result of his commitment, followed by that of three generations of his descendants and other hard, honest workers, the company has continued to offer high quality products and services. Casa Vinicola Poletti s production is based on its own grapes that come from fifty hectares of vineyards. The company processes around 50,000 quintals of grapes, some of which are also provided by selected local growers, on its own wine-producing plant, where 20 million litres of wine are made and bottled every year.

33 SANTA MARGHERITA Alto Adige, Italy Over 80 years ago, Count Gaetano Marzotto led the revitalization of an abandoned portion of the Venetian countryside. Here, where rivers from the alps cut through the sun-drenched hills on their winding way to the Mediterranean shore, he created much-needed farmlands and restored traditional wine-making in what had been a region of fine vineyards since the time of the Roman Empire. Employing new agricultural science and a commitment to the needs of the Italian people, Marzotto gave this labour of love the name of his dear wife Margherita, and the first piece in the mosaic of Santa Margherita was set. At Santa Margherita, we re wine people; we are passionate about wine because we are passionate about people and the lives they live. 35 SINGLE VINEYARD VALDADIGE PINOT GRIGIO DOCG AREA OF ORIGIN To create this signature varietal, the fully ripe Pinot Grigio grapes are harvested in the Alto Adige vineyard in the Italian Alps by hand to ensure that the clusters remain whole and retain their delicate aromas and flavours. WINEMAKING Santa Margherita was the first company to vinify pink Pinot Grigio grapes as a white wine. In this process, the must does not remain in contact with the skins, from which it would otherwise take on the rusty color. This dry white wine has a straw yellow colour. Its clean, intense aroma and bone-dry taste, with an appealing flavour of Golden Delicious apples, make Santa Margherita s Pinot Grigio a wine of great personality and versatility. IMPRONTA DEL FONDATORE PINOT GRIGIO DOCG AREA OF ORIGIN Alto Adige hills. WINEMAKING The grapes, picked fully ripe and undamaged, are softcrushed and the resulting must racked into stainless steel tanks to ferment for 8-10 days at a controlled temperature of C. The wine then remains on the lees for several weeks to acquire volume and complexity before bottling. A star-bright straw yellow. An intense, whistle-clean nose that marries the classic pear and apple-like fragrances with elegant hints of florality and citrus. The palate, dry on entry, reveals substantial structure and lingering, refreshing savouriness that make this a versatile wine of outstanding personality. 129

36 VALIANO Tuscany, Italy Our philosophy at Valiano is to produce elegant wines that reflect the region and ultimately the characteristics of each particular vineyard. Tradition comes in the presentation and the character of our wines focused on expressiveness of grape variety in relation with its territory. Valiano is immersed in the typical Tuscan countryside, in the heart of Chianti Classico spreads over 230 hectares, 70 of which are dedicated to specialised vineyards. While the Mediterranean sun is conducive to an extended growing season, there is also a considerable variation between day and nighttime temperatures. Such temperature variations work to the benefit of grapes in that it not only facilitates berry growth and coloration but also promotes complexity in grape flavours.

The ripe, substantial tannins are buried in fruit on the finish. TEO POGGIO CHIANTI RISERVA Dark brilliant ruby. Wonderfully refined nose is full of ripe plum and cherry aromas filled out tantalizing spicy notes. The fruit is lush and forward on the palate with sweet toasty oak flavours blended with bitter chocolate and ripe raspberry. The finish is lush and filled with sweet baked cherry flavours with a hint of tobacco and round, easy tannins. 132

39 ESTATE RANGE CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA DOCG Brick red A scent of sweet spices, black plums and a touch of rose petal. Palate shows fennel seeds, white pepper and dried rosemary mixed with plum and cherries. Silky tannins, yet firm with balanced acidity and excellent length. 40 VESEVO Campania, Italy The Vesevo estate is the final and most poetic project of Valentino Sciotti (also of Caldora, and Feudi di San Marzano). The name Vesevo is meant to pay homage to Mount Vesuvio and the special microclimate of the area which is rich in minerals fundamental for growing fine grapes with a unique complexity. Vesevo s straight varietal bottlings of Campania s traditional Falanghina, Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino, and Aglianico are some of the most expessive in the region, showing that great fruit concentration and floral nuance can live hand in hand with the region s structured mineral reputation.

43 VIGNETI DEL SALENTO Salento, Italy SALENTO: LIGHT AND STONE Light and Stone - that s where it all begins in the land of Salento. The light penetrates in the secret clefts of the ground with its Mediterranean character, it warms the red colour of the soil, draws the scents from the sea and makes the sparse bunches of grapes turn red. The solid, indestructible stone, soft and malleable, emerges from the subsoil and tangles with the Trulli (typical cylinder shaped houses with a conical roof) across the meadows where the trees are hundreds of years old. In this special atmosphere the old grapevines lay still and silent, in the same place for almost a century. After years of research to find the best and oldest vineyards in the Manduria and Sava area which, due to their specific soil and climate conditions, are considered the most suitable areas for the main grape variety: the Primitivo.
