2 AUCKLAND New Zealand's Wine Regions Best known for Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah Auckland is New Zealand s largest city and is home to a diverse and widely spread wine region made up of Henderson, Kumeu and Huapai to the northwest and Waiheke Island, Matakana and Clevedon to the south. There s a long winemaking tradition here, dating back to the 1930s, the region boasts an array of both world renowned and boutique wineries. Climatically, Auckland enjoys warm, primarily frost-free conditions with relatively high rainfall. Auckland vineyards are established on clay soils of volcanic, greywacke or mixed alluvial origin. AUCKLAND HAWKE'S BAY WAIRARAPA MARLBOROUGH CANTERBURY CENTRAL OTAGO HAWKE'S BAY Best known for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Blends, Syrah and Chardonnay The oldest wine region in New Zealand dating back to 1851, Hawke's Bay is also the second largest, with 172 vineyards. It has a maritime climate similar to that of Bordeaux with prevailing hot dry north westerly winds, low rainfall and a long growing season. Hawke's Bay is New Zealand s leading producer of red wines with over 80% of the national vintage for Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. Hawke's Bay also produces fantastic Chardonnay and this varietal makes up 50% of the region's total vintage.

3 CANTERBURY / BANKS PENINSULA Best known for Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Canterbury has a unique and diverse climate. Spanning nearly 200km of the South Island s eastern coastline, with the magnificent Southern Alps to the west and sweeping Pacific Ocean to the east, vineyards are situated from Waimate in South Canterbury to Cheviot in North Canterbury. The area also includes the micro-climate of Banks Peninsula and Waipara Valley. Canterbury wine offers a diverse range of styles and producers plus many attractive cellar doors. CENTRAL OTAGO Best known for Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sparkling Central Otago is the world s most southern wine region and is made up of several smaller sub regions: Wanaka, Cromwell, Bendigo, Alexandra, Gibbston and Bannockburn. Its rugged mountain terrain, lakes and rivers make for a spectacular landscape alongside a sophisticated tourist culture. Central Otago is home to some of the world s best Pinot Noir not to mention impressive, vivid white wines. The wines produced here are as distinctive as the landscapes the grapes are grown on and reflective of the pure mountain air.

4 WAIRARAPA Best known for Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay Located approximately an hour north-east of New Zealand s capital city, Wellington and split into three main areas; Masterton, Gladstone and Martinborough. The region is characterised by quaint little towns dotted between rolling fields of sheep, olives and grapes, set against a panoramic mountain backdrop. Climatically the area is similar to Marlborough, with low rainfall, high sunshine hours and cool nights. MARLBOROUGH Best known for Sauvignon Blanc, but also Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sparkling Recognised as one of the premium wine regions of the world, Marlborough is New Zealand s leading and largest wine growing region producing 79% of the total wine production. It has an enviable international reputation for producing the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world. There s a magical synergy in this region with lots of sun, cool nights, low autumn rainfall and free draining alluvial soils that combined, make Marlborough wines so impressively unique.

Quartz Reef Méthode Traditionnelle Brut - $55 Focused, fresh and crisp with a beautiful balance and length. A bouquet of royal gala apple with a hint of lime, flirtatious and moreish on the palate. Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage Brut $85 (Marlborough) Rich with aromas of nougat, crisp red apple, pear and honey. The palate is generous and mouth-filling with citrus notes amongst layers of baked apple pie, brioche and almonds.

6 Whites SAUVIGNON BLANC Glass Bottle Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2014 $12 $45 (Marlborough) Layered with aromas of fresh tropical fruit; white peach, melon and mango that unfold to more savoury notes, this wine is neatly balanced with an invigorating finish. Framingham Sauvignon Blanc $50 (Marlborough) Delivers punchy vibrant aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit and redcurrant. A richly textured wine is enhanced by some barrel ferment, crisp and dry at the finish. Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc 2014 $14 $55 (Marlborough) Youthful, bright and lively, with intense aromas of blackcurrant, passionfruit and hints of nettle. The palate introduces a delightful citrus based intensity and a strong texture to finish. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014 $17.50 $70 (Marlborough) A classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, full of ripe citrus and exotic passionfruit flavours. Delicate but expressive with a lovely balance and a rich finish.

7 CHARDONNAY Glass Bottle Spy Valley Chardonnay 2013 $12 $45 (Marlborough) Fragrant and fruity with aromas of peach and nectarine, a hint of vanilla and nougat, this wine marries spice and citrus well, mouth-wateringly crisp yet slightly nutty at the finish. Church Road McDonald Series Chardonnay 2013 $14 $55 (Hawke's Bay) A rich and toasty Chardonnay perfumed with the flavours of grilled peach, spicy oak, caramel and citrus, it has a mouth filling finish that lingers. Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay $75 (Auckland) Beautifully fragrant with its lemon/lime blossom characters and lovely fruit purity. The Hunting Hill vineyard has a particularly pure character that, in its youth, displays a tight and crisp palate.

8 PINOT GRIS Glass Bottle Hawkshead Pinot Gris 2013 $13 $50 A classy dry style Pinot Gris, scented with ginger, brioche, red apple and floral notes, it has a delicate yet lively texture with just a hint of spice and a vibrant appley freshness. Amisfield Pinot Gris 2014 $15.50 $60 Fragrant and full bodied with a bouquet of ripe pear and nectarine with a touch of spice, the flavours are barrel influenced resulting in an elegant well balanced Pinot Gris that has some fruity personality. Gibbston Valley Pinot Gris $65 A fresh and lively wine, delicate yet packed full of flavour and intensity. Complex aromas of grapefruit, lemongrass and vanilla are followed by stonefruit and guava on the palate, zesty and full of energy through to the finish. ROSÉ Glass Bottle Terra Sancta Pinot Noir Rosé 2014 $14 $55 A beautiful wine in every way, the strawberry hue opens the gateway to a sensory experience that is bright and memorable, full of gorgeous red fruit flavours and a zesty finish.

9 RIESLING Glass Bottle Peregrine Rastasburn Riesling 2010 $13 $50 A moreish off dry Riesling with flavours of sweet ripe peach and apricot summer fruits, balanced with a little citrus freshness with a soft easy texture. Framingham Classic Riesling $50 (Marlborough) Striking aromatic, richly flavoured and zesty, with complex characters of lemon citrus, mandarin and peach with a hint of marmalade, it has a long and slightly sweet mineral finish. DESSERT WINES Glass Bottle Lake Hayes Noble Riesling $40 / 375ml A luscious dessert wine with aromatics of nashi pear, elderflower and marmalade on the nose, with flavours of honey and caramelised peaches this is a well-balanced wine with some lively acidity.

10 Reds PINOT NOIR Glass Bottle Surveyor Thomson Explorer Pinot Noir 2013 $14 $55 A complex Pinot, full-coloured, mouth-filling, savoury and sweet-fruited, with youthful cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, medium acidity gives it a fresh and youthful appeal with an elegant finish. Hawkshead Pinot Noir 2013 $16.50 $65 Attractively fragrant, full of dark cherry, spicy wildflower notes on the nose with quality French oak spice, red berries and plum on the palate. This wine has lovely focus and shows texture and persistence. TSS Earnslaw Pinot Noir $70 A premium limited local release Pinot Noir made by Surveyor Thomson and harvested in a fantastic growing year. This wine shows complex aromas of dark cherry, plum and spice, layered on the palate with a lingering finish. Waitiri Creek Pinot Noir $80 Richly perfumed with notes of violets, cherries and savoury spice. This Pinot has a fruit driven palate flavoured with black cherries and black doris plums, cloves and spice. A powerful yet elegant wine.

11 PINOT NOIR Glass Bottle Gibbston Valley China Terrace Pinot Noir $90 Youthful, vibrant and fruit packed, full of dark brooding flavours and beautiful floral tones, with plenty of spices on the nose and a savoury finish. Mountford Estate Pinot Noir $130 (Waipara Valley, Canterbury) A hearty Pinot Noir with plum, prune, mocha, vanilla and liquorice characters. Rich, savoury and complex, this wine has a silky texture and a ripe style. SYRAH Glass Bottle Couper s Shed Syrah 2012 $13 $50 (Hawke's Bay) Vibrant crimson purple there are aromas of dark berries with lifted violet notes and peppery spice. The palate is concentrated and rich with savoury nuances and supple tannins on the finish. Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Syrah $75 (Hawke's Bay) A complex bouquet of boysenberry, black pepper, cedar, anise and herbs. The palate is beautifully rich with dark berry ripeness balanced with fine acidity, finishing dry and long.

12 CABERNET / MERLOT Glass Bottle Villa Maria Cellar Selection Organic Merlot 2013 $12 $45 (Hawke's Bay) Dark berry fruit, plum and spicy cedar notes resembling fruitcake dominate the nose. A rich, smooth palate follows with layers of flavour and supple texture. Pegasus Bay Merlot Cabernet $65 (Waipara Valley, Canterbury) Abundant with aromas and flavours of plum, cassis and wild blackberries, along with softer notes of vanilla pod, chocolate mocha and spice. The wine enters the palate subtly but expands into a robust and satisfyingly dry finish. Te Mata Awatea Cabernet Merlot $80 (Hawke's Bay) Fragrant with captivating notes of dark roast coffee, chocolate, vanilla and toast. Hints of bayleaf and mint keep the aromas fresh and lively. The palate unfolds with ripe berry flavours and a delightful finish. Villa Maria Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2009 Library Release - $120 (Hawke's Bay) Perfumed with red plum, cassis, coffee beans, dried herbs and cedar spice, followed by a texture that is soft yet concentrated. Integrated with oak and layers of sweet dark fruit, cocoa and spice.
