4 06 07 history of our brand 2000 The millennial year sees another Tim Horton, a National Hockey League Legend, opened the first store in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada The first U.S. location opens in Tonawanda NY milestone as the 2000th restaurant opens in downtown, Toronto Tim Horton passes away and Ron Joyce establishes the Tim Horton Children's Foundation (THCF) The first Rrroll Up the Rim to Win promotion was introduced Tim Hortons merges with Wendy's Tim Hortons completes its initial public offering and officially becomes public, trading on the NYSE and the TSX (THI). Tim Hortons celebrates its 50th anniversary Tim Hortons to launch its first store in the UK. Burger King and 3G Capital acquire Tim Hortons and form the 3rd largest restaurant brand in the world, Restaurant Brands International.
