1 First Floor Dining Room Dine in our stunning dining room on the first floor which has been beautifully restored with your own private bar and roof terrace. Host an intimate dinner party or reception here allowing you privacy away from the main bar and restaurant. The dining room seats up to 20 around one large table with lower level sofas and informal seating set around your own fully stocked bar, with plasma and sound system at your disposal. There is a beautiful roof terrace for your exclusive use in the summer with spiral staircase down to the main garden. Let us take some of the stress out of your event and keep your special occasion local. Depending on your choice of seating arrangement, we have a maximum capacity of 20 people seated for a formal dinner or can accommodate up to 40 informally. Our Chefs have created some fantastic menu s catering for all tastes and dietary requirements. From canapés to five course fine dining menus. Our Head Chef Gary can discuss any preferences you have in mind. We not only provide fantastic seasonal food but great drinks. We can help you choose a wine that will match your choice of food, as well as develop a bespoke cocktail list for that special occasion. On Sundays the dining room is available to hire for tables of 14 adults or more who want to Host their own Roast. If you would like to have all your friends round for Sunday lunch but don t want the hassle of all the cooking and cleaning up then why not leave it to us and book the first floor. Simply choose your roast, we ll even provide a classic pudding for dessert - all you need to do is play host and tuck in. You can hire our first floor dining room free of charge with an agreed minimum spend of 500 of which 300 must be on food. The enclosed terms and conditions provide full details of costs and the facilities you will have at your disposal. We know everybody has different requirements and expectations so we work very closely with you to ensure you and your guests are happy every step of the way. 4 Host Your Own Roast Do you fancy having all you friends round for Sunday lunch but don t want the hassle of all the cooking and washing up Then why not leave it to us? Cream of onion soup and warm bread (v) Chicken liver parfait, apricot chutney, crispy sage and toasts Mackerel pate with beetroot and horseradish remoulade and toasts ***** Roast rump of English beef Slow roasted shoulder and roast leg of lamb Artichoke and vegetable nut roast (v) Slow roast chicken on the bone Honey roast gammon All served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables stuffing and gravy ***** Chocolate brownie, chocolate sauce with vanilla ice-cream Sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch sauce, salted caramel ice-cream Seasonal fruit crumble, vanilla custard per adult per child Junior Host Your Own Roast Menu Soup or houmous and breadsticks to start, any roast, macaroni cheese or spaghetti bolognese for main, followed by ice-cream, brownie or crumble for pudding The minimum number of people required for a host your own roast is 14 adults and the maximum is 20 (including children). The full menu must be ordered 1 week in advance. The room is available from pm with starters served from 2pm.
5 Dining Room: Terms and Conditions and FAQ s Please read the following information, we will not accept any bookings without people agreeing to and signing the terms and conditions: Cost: The cost to hire the dining room is a 100 deposit. This is returned if there is a minimum spend of 500 ( 300 of which must be on food) and provided there is no damage to the room. If there is any shortfall on meeting the 500 minimum spend this will be taken out of the deposit. For example if there is a spend of 450 we will keep 50 to bring it to the minimum spend. Service: A discretionary service charge of 10% is applied to all bookings to be shared by all staff. Bookings: The Sun only considers a booking to be confirmed upon receipt of a completed booking form and the required deposit. Facilities: The dining room is upstairs, and due to age of the building, there are no lift facilities. There are private toilet facilities located off the main staircase to the dining room. The dining room is available to hire from: 7pm pm Friday 1pm 4.30pm Saturday 7pm pm Saturday 1pm pm on Sunday The maximum capacity of the room is 40 people with the room accommodating up to 20 for a formal sit down lunch, dinner or meeting. Food and Drink: There is a private cash only bar upstairs. The bar has San Miguel, Becks, Guinness and Aspells Cider on draught and holds many of the same wines, spirits and soft drinks as the main bar, for the same cost. The bar does not have ales on draught. We can create a bespoke offer for special occasions with fine wines to accompany a bespoke menu or cocktails to accompany canapés. Our Chefs have created some fantastic menu s catering for all tastes and dietary requirements from finger food menus to five course fine dining bespoke menus that can be tailored to your requirements. Sample menus are provided to give you an idea of what we can provide for your special occasion. Your choices of menu, with final details and numbers are required at least 10 days prior to the function. No food or drinks are to be brought onto the premises other than the birthday, christening or wedding cake. Entertainment: The room has an MP3 dock which allows an IPod or MP3 player to be played through the speakers in the room. We do not have a licence for music and live music and DJs are not permitted under any circumstances. The room has an internet enabled plasma which can be used to play dvds, watch television or Skype relatives who are unable to attend your special event. Children/Under 18 s: Unfortunately due to our licence we are unable to have any children on the premises after 7pm. Children must be supervised at all times and are not allowed to sit at the bar area, be on the terrace or go to the toilet unaccompanied. We expect children to be supervised and respect the room so no climbing on furniture, running around, leaving games or toys on the floor that staff can trip over etc.
6 We are happy to provide colouring and board games to help keep children entertained. Please note our staff are here to provide you with food and drink service they are not here to look after or discipline children. We do not accept 18th or 21 st birthday parties. Anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 will be asked for ID. Decorating the Room: If you wish to decorate the room you are more than welcome to do so. All we ask is that no damage is made to the paint work or furniture. Party poppers, glitter and table confetti are not permitted. There is often more than one function on one day we would recommend balloons and can provide various types of bunting. Unacceptable Behaviour/Damage to Property: If any guests attending the party behave in a manner which we deem unacceptable they will be asked to leave, if they refuse we will stop the party and you will forfeit your deposit. If any unlawful acts, including breaches of the licensing laws, occur the party will be stopped. We have a zero tolerance policy on drugs, unacceptable and threatening behaviour. You assume responsibility for damage caused by your guests, whether in the dining room or in any part of building and undertake to make good or pay restitution for any material damage of furniture, fixtures or equipment. All equipment and property bought into The Sun is done so at people s own risk. CCTV is in operation in the dining room and throughout the premises at all times. The management of The Sun have the right to stop the party at any time and ask all customers to be respectful of our neighbours when leaving. Payment: All accounts should be cleared on the day or before the day of the booking by cash or card. All cheques should be made payable to Hair of the Dog Ltd and if paying by cheque should be sent one week prior to the booking. Any pre ordered food and drink must be paid for one week in advance of the booking. No refunds will be given and the amount cannot be carried over to another event. Cancellation Policy: There is no cancellation fee provided the booking is cancelled in writing not less than 4 weeks prior to the event (Although any deposits will be lost). Cancellation received in writing less than 4 weeks prior to the booking will incur the full 500 charge if the room is not re-booked. Disclaimer: It is the responsibility of the party organiser to ensure that all attendees abide by the terms and conditions. And finally Our aim is to make sure that your event is as enjoyable as possible.
