1 Skål International Chiangmai & North Thailand MEMBER OF SKÅL INTERNATIONAL Professionnels du Tourisme August 7, 2014 Skålleagues met on the rooftop of the lovely Sala Lanna Hotel on Thursday, July 31, 2014 enjoying the cool temperatures brought on by the rains that fell earlier in the afternoon. The view of Doi Suthep and over the Wat Gate area had many pointing out landmarks and enjoying the view. Mocktails made from anchan flowers and pandanus were served along with a delicious sparkling wine courtesy of Collavini Winery and Italasia. Luigi Collavini is joined on the roof by Chef Davide Pritone and Morris Dash of Italasia Collavini is a family owned winery whose foundation dates back to It is located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of northeast Italy near the border with Slovenia. The wines are produced from sourced vineyards of approximately 150 hectares and include over 18 individual cuvée of sparkling, red and white wines in the portfolio. The property is managed today by Manlio Collavini and his three sons Giovanni, Luigi and Eugenio. Luigi Collavini joined Morris Dash of Italasia at the dinner. Morris Dash of Italasia joins General Manager of Anantara Chiang Mai Syahreza Ishwara and Philippe an Laethem General Manager of Expertasia Travel to enjoy the sparkling wine from Collavini Winery.

3 The large group of 54 people adjourned to the ground floor for the group photo before sitting down to a delicious dinner of either beef or salmon from the kitchen of Executive Chef Davide Pritoni. The wines served during the meal also came from Collavini and consisted of a very nice chardonnay, which was, as Luigi pointed out after the meal, not too heavy or oaky noting that it is fermented in a stainless container to give it more freshness. Dinner was served with a fine Merlot Refosco blend, the soft Merlot fruit mixed with the lighter more fragrant Refosco. Birthday boy Ernest Nest Reypens received a bouquet of flowers and a hug! from membership director Jenny Croyston. Vice President Annette Kunigagon also announced the twinning ceremony with Skål Yangon which will take place in Yangon on September Skål Yangon has arranged a package of accommodation and tours and Air Bagan is offering a special deal so members who are interested in joining were urged to get in touch with Tim or Annette. President Tim McGuire also asked members to vote on four proposed logos with a logo of two elephants standing on their hind legs with the Skål shield in the middle the favorite. Voting will be open for a bit longer so members who want to vote or suggest other logos should let Tim know by August 12 at timmcguire4@hotmail.com. Options at the end of this . Events Director Manfred Ilg of 137 Pillars House gave the Skål toast in English and Vice President Annette Kunigagon of Eagle Guesthouse gave the Skål toast in Thai. During the dinner, Luigi and Morris visited each table to discuss the wines being served and the winery. The sold out event was greatly enjoyed and Luigi Collavini received a hearty round of applause after dinner when he said that for him wine should be enjoyed, that it is something you enjoy with your meal, enjoy with your friends adding that he felt a wine dinner where everyone talked

4 about the wine was more stuffy than it should be, wine should be enjoyed in company. He was joined by Morris Dash of Italasia who has supplied wines for Skål dinners for several years. Vice President Annette Kunigagon presents Luigi Collavini with a bouquet of flowers as thanks for the wine that was hosted by Collavini Winery and Italasia, she is joined by Manfred Ilg, Morris Dash and Tim McGuire. The door prizes were drawn and Gina Cai of Sangdao Performing Arts School won the voucher valued at 2,000 baht for dinner at Sala Lanna while the dinner for two at Khum Khantoke was won by Waranyaa Fon Sawongtui of Siam Trails. Chef Davide Pritoni and Hotel Manager Piyaporn Kwan Hempornwisan brought out the staff to receive a round of applause forthe excellent food and service in a charming atmosphere; Atapone Chairatanapong (Bas) Restaurant Manager, Chindanai (Jo) - Asst. Restaurant Manager, Benchanud (Nud) Supervisor, Sarunya (Hong) Waitress, Sapasiri (Arm), Wiroj (Ton) Waiters and Atchara (Nan) the bartender. 5 Skål Events Director Manfred Ilg recently met with Mr. Alan Wissenberg, Vice President of Skål Club Munich where he joined their monthly dinner on Monday, June 02, 2014 at a luxury hotel in Munich. They had a guest speaker from Lufthansa talking about the new Lufthansa premium economy class, around 20 members were in attendance, they then exchanged the flags of the two Clubs.
