5 Western Europe Spain's largest wine-growing area, 1.6 to 1.7 million ha in 1985 (EU). Currently, approx. 1.1 million hectares Italy:descending vineyards from the 60-ies France: a strong decline in the base of table wine Portugal: decrease after the EU accession Germany: the wine regions are suitable only to the highquality grape production Greece: after the connection to the EU,a numerous cut of vineyard were realised

55 Wine turism Hungarian wine has a history dating back to at least Roman times. Outside of Hungary, the best-known wines are the white dessert wine Tokaji and the red wine Bull's Blood of Eger (Egri Bikavér). Tokaj, Villány & Szekszárd, Eger and the wine regions around Lake Balaton (Badacsony) are the most suitable for wine tourism in Hungary.
