1 NEWSLETTER Already week 8 of Term 3, Wow Time to start getting excited for the concert. Term 3 Fees If you have not already noticed, but Term 3 Fees have been issued. This term hard copies of invoices have been put into student pockets. Payments to be completed before start of Term 4. Once again a huge thank you to the families that have finalised their Term 2 accounts, this is very much appreciated. If you did not receive your Term 3 invoice or have any concerns or issues over charges that should not appear on your invoice, then please dancemountisa@gmail.com or speak to a Committee Member at the hall on Saturday mornings between 9:00-10:30am. Payments options are: Cash Cheque Internet Transfer If you wish to use internet banking, it is important to provide a copy of the transaction. Please attach this copy along with your invoice and place in the fee box located in the dance hall foyer. Please ensure you use FEES in your reference along with student s name. If money is deposited for other reasons, please ensure you advise what the money is for. Bank Deposit Details are: QCCU - Mt Isa Ballet Students Association BSB: Account: CSTD Jazz & Tap Exams Due to other commitments ie. School Camps etc. the Jazz and Tap exams will no longer be held in September and is moved back to October 2014, after the September School Holidays. Dates yet to be advised. Students doing their Jazz and Tap exams are to ensure they have checked uniform requirements prior to exam day; Jazz Leotard, Jazz Black tights, Jazz tan stockings (must be correct dance stockings), Jazz shoes etc.please check your note for uniform requirements for each grade, this has been given out by your teacher. If you are unsure of anything, please ask now. Timetable Please note new timetable at the end of this newsletter. Senior Grades affected.
2 CONCERT Friday 28th & Saturday 29th November. We now commence preparations for the end of year concert. If you have not already heard the concert theme has been decided and though the name of the concert has not been announced as yet, the concert theme is about Rise of the Guardians. Rise of the Guardians tells the story of a group of heroes, each with extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit, known as Pitch, lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world. Students will begin receiving notes home regarding extra practices, costumes etc. It is very important that all students attend ALL practices as a great deal of time and effort goes into ensuring dances are placed correctly and of course the more rehearsals they have the better the end result. Students that miss consecutive lessons may not participate in sections of their dance, if they are unable to catch up with routines. A few general notes for new parents regarding concert will also be communicated via notes or newsletters. Just a heads up regarding costumes - costumes are sourced for the most reasonable costs available, and are offered to students at cost price, but can range between $ $ per class depending on what is required. Payments for costumes must go through Splitz and not the dance school. ALL students MUST wear either ballet tights or jazz tights, these are specific dance tights purchased through Splitz and not those purchased at Kmart or the like. ALL students must wear make up and this is communicated and a session is held closer to the concert so our parents that are not sure how to do makeup can get some tips. It is also a requirement that NO students wear earrings at concert time, therefore if you are considering getting your child s ears pierced, please do so after the concert or at least 8 weeks prior to the concert (so that there has been a reasonable time period for the lobe to heal). Another good idea is to purchase a costume bag and then all items for the costume including shoes, hair accessories can be placed in the one bag. You are welcome to start purchasing makeup and costume bag and perhaps the dance tights. Please ensure that all belongings are labelled with students name as many items go astray during quick dress changes on concert night. To run a successful concert, we need parent helpers for both nights of our concert. Please consider now if you are able to assist, even if it is only for a couple of hours on either night of the concert. Mostly we require mums to keep the groups quiet and help the students, especially the little ones, to get dressed and ready to go for their next item. Though we appreciate assistance from the many dads unfortunately due to quick changes and the change room areas we ask that only the ladies assist back stage to the dads of our students we always need help getting props to and from the civic centre so you won t be left out. A list will go up in the foyer if you are able to assist, closer to the concert. For first time concert parents, one of the general questions often asked is which night will my child be performing, Friday or Saturday?. As a general rule the younger age group performs on the Friday and the older on the Saturday. ie. Kinder 4 Ballet (Friday night), Kinder 5 Ballet (Saturday night). Your teacher will advise you if students are required to perform on both nights.

Calendars are $10.00 each and are available for purchase on Saturday mornings between 9am-10:30am from Committee members in the dance foyer. Past year calendars are also available for sale for only $5.00. Great as photo keepsakes. Due to the lack of sales and interest in the Concert Calendars, the Mount Isa School of Dance will not be producing a 2015 calendar depicting this years concert. MESSY HAIR It has come to the attention of teachers recently that many students are coming to class with messy hair hanging in their faces and distracting them throughout class. You are reminded that as per the School of D a n c e P r o s p e c t u s, g r o o m i n g a n d presentation are important and essential to the discipline required to study dance. Please ensure that your child s hair is neatly pulled back, in a bun or, for short hair, held back with a headband for all classes.
