2 FOOD Trends Last month I took a short trip to Amsterdam to attend a trade show and do a food safari. I love travelling and getting to check out new places to eat. A couple of things struck me about the food scene there. Firstly, for the most part, it's totally cashless, with most places only accepting card - this works for me as I never have cash! The second thing was how many great little independent food outlets are open there, really focusing on quality local ingredients but using modern cooking techniques and influences from all over the world to create some pretty tasty food. I had some really great coffee and, in a nod to the classics, a Dutch pancake (or two!). I also had some really good sushi and my first ever batch of vegan wings, made from cauliflower. In this month's update, we have some good news for busy NYC shoppers, veggie burgers that bleed and the latest Instagram trend of Food Jenga. Have a great month! Concierge in the City Busy New Yorkers can now avail of Walmarts new concierge service. It s a step change for the company, offering same day deliveries and giving its customers more flexibility and choice. I m a fan of online shopping so will be watching how this trial goes. Food Jenga Does your Instagram feed need a shakeup? Why not try a game of food Jenga? Instagramers are stacking everything from donuts to traybakes and more to create these cool pics. I m going to give it a go. #foodjenga Are you sure this is a veggie burger??? Whether you re a meat eater, a vegan, a vegetarian or a flexitarian, everybody loves a good burger. A lot of research is being done currently on meat substitutes and lab-grown meat, but there are also some new veggie burgers on the block. The impossible burger made in the US is a vegan product that looks to emulate the texture, taste and visual look of a burger, even bleeding due to a protein extracted from soya. One to try with a side of vegan wings!
