These past ten months we have lost members from our Defending Circle. With sadness in our hearts we look back through the years to the many memories they gave us. We will miss them, and we thank them for the years that they gave to our cause. The first Sunday in May we will honor them in our Memorial Service, as well as the others who have past since last May and those, we will lose in the next few months. Moose Board Nominations The nominating Committee will be meeting on Thursday March 7th at 5:30pm and the last meeting will be on Thursday March 14th at 5:30pm. Anyone interested in a position on next year s board should turn in a nomination form. They are located in the lobby next to the Guest sign in book and on the back of the Moose Call. Open positions include: Governor, Jr. Governor, Prelate, Treasurer, and Three-Year Trustee. The Fourth Sunday of the month now comes with Mimosas for $2.00. Come down and have one with Breakfast. Paint N Sip We are having a paint n sip on Sunday, March 3rd. It will start at 1 pm. The cost is $30 per person and includes a wine, rail drink or beer. Only 30 people max. Sign-Up sheet will be behind the bar after February 4th. Sports Committee Come One Come All To the Riders Train Crawl. On sat March 30th we are having our annual train crawl. Registration starts at 11 am at Ortmans. The train leaves at 11:48am. We will be making 4 stops along the way and ending at the Moose about 6pm. There will be food at the lodge courtesy of the riders. All money raised will be donated to the IL State Moose Riders. Women of the Moose Appreciation Dinner With all the help that the LOOM has received from the WOTM over the last year we will be once again making an appreciation dinner for the WOTM on Saturday March 23rd at 6:00pm. We would like to thank everyone that helped during that very stressful time! Heart of the Community Committee Joke of the MoNth Burger Night Please come join us for Burger night on March 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The Special Burger will be a Reuben Burger. This special burger will include corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. Proceeds from Burger Night will support a local charity. Midyear conference We would like to congratulate our very own Buffy on her 3rd place finish in the Illinois Moose Association Karaoke contest. According to the people that I was sitting with you were the best one singing that evening lol. 4 4 Moose Family Center No Moose knots NeWs This has sure been an odd stretch of weather this winter. As soon as it seems like the spring is coming... an arctic blast comes our way. We have many scarves, hats and cowls still available to anyone interested if you wish to contact a member of our group. Some of you may be seeing our new and exciting Spring raffle! As stated in last month s Moose call, we have a lovely large basket filled with handmade items and some heartwarming and beautiful things too. We will be offering increased chances to win something this time as once our main drawing of the winner is done, 3 second place and 7 third place winners will also be drawn. Your chances of winning something created with care and useful to boot is better than ever so please check out our raffle and take a chance! What an exciting opportunity for everyone who supports Moose charities. Our mission is to create lovely knitted, crochet and kitting loomed items in support of the Moose charities. Lots of Delicious Chili was entered and everyone was a winner. With the in-climate weather in January and having to cancel the second meeting in January the nomination committee meetings had to be pushed back a week. So, this means you have one more chance on or before the March 5th nomination committee meeting at 6:30 PM to submit yourself for nomination for any Board position, either in writing or verbal submission to anyone of the nominating committee members. Our meetings will be held in March on March 12th and March 26th at 7:00 PM. Also, at the March 12th meeting we will be announcing the final slate of nominees and on March 26th we will having the election of our new Board of Officers. Please join us! 5 Volume 101, Issue 3 Also, in March the Women will having their Annual St. Patrick s Day dinner on Sunday, March 17th. There is a fifth Friday of the month in March so the Women will be hosting the Fish Fry along with the Fish and/or Shrimp Boil. The fifth Sunday of the month in March the women will be serving the Women of the Moose Breakfast which now includes fresh baked cinnamon rolls. It s going to be a busy month and we hope to see everyone there! Donna Warner, Senior Regent Moose Legion The next Legion breakfast will be held on March 3, We serve from 8:00-10:30. Come out and enjoy a great breakfast and Moose fellowship! Thank you to all who donated blood at the February 3rd breakfast. And as the winter blahs have surely set in for us all, just keep telling yourself as you hurl yet another shovel full of snow, Spring is coming, Spring is coming, Spring is coming Vern Bauman Silvermanes The first meeting of the Silvermanes for the new year will be March 19th at 1:00 pm. Come for lunch first at noon and order off the menu or just for the meeting. We need new members. If you are 55 and over, you are eligible for membership. We meet the third Tuesday of every month. Sometimes we have a potluck lunch before the meeting. Dues are $ per year. We would certainly like to see some new faces. Hope to see our current members returning and even some new faces. Women of the Moose Thank You I want to thank everyone who contributed to my comfort box, especially Kristi Phelps & Connie Avery who organized the kind gesture. It was full of many things to keep me warm, comfy and busy. While I m again facing a battle with cancer, it s amazing how many Moose friends have reached out to support me... it s as if I have a mini moose army standing with me ready to fight along with me and I thank each & every one of you. On top of this I want to thank Nanci Julius who made a beautiful patchwork quilt where many friends expressed their support in writing.. GREAT JOB! I love you all..keep praying! Judy Labelle
