1 MAC NEWS Issue 1 August 31 st, 2018 Letter from the PTA Co-Presidents Hello to all of our new and returning students and families from the MacArthur PTA! We are looking forward to the school year and have many fun events planned. To begin, we would like to introduce ourselves as the co-presidents of the PTA for the school year. Mallory Whalen has three students at MacArthur a 5 th grader, 3 rd grader and a 1 st grader. She teaches Summer School in District 54 and grew up in the district. Jessica Augsburger has two students at Mac a 6 th grader and a 3 rd grader. She is a social worker and works for an adoption agency. We both have enjoyed watching our children grow during their time as Toros and are constantly amazed at how much they learn. This school is a special place with a great community. The PTA is in charge of planning fun events and activities throughout the year for our students and families. This year, we are looking forward to bringing back a fun school tradition, the Taste of Mac cultural event. We will also be hosting a back to school picnic, a family movie night, and Fun Fair. These combined with our book fairs, Field Day and special lunch options will round out a full year of fun. Whether you work outside the home or stay home, whether you can help for one hour at a school event or want to be more involved in planning, we welcome all parents to join us. If you are interested in learning more about the work we do to benefit our students, we encourage you to attend our PTA meetings, which are held the 2 nd Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 11 th. Sincerely, Mallory Whalen mallorywhalen@yahoo.com Jessica Augsburger jessica.augsburger@gmail.com National PTA Website Illinois PTA Website PTA Presidents: Jessica Augsburger & Mallory Whalen jessica.augsburger@gmail.com mallorywhalen@yahoo.com Newsletter Editor: Irene Belesiotis irenebele24@sbcglobal.net MacArthur PTA Website: MacArthur PTA Facebook Page: MacArthur Elementary PTA Principal: Sonia Esquivel SoniaEsquivel@sd54.org Asst.
