These resourceful traders, who occupied a string of cities along the Mediterranean coast in what is today Leanon, rought their dye, faric, ceramics, glass, metals, wine, crops, spices and oil from port to port across the pond. To promote trade, they set up colonies from North Africa to Sicily and even around Spain, at the same time serving as missionaries of civilization, ringing eastern Mediterranean products and culture to cities to the west. One might say the cuisine of Leanon has een in the making since those pre-ilical times.
