3 JOIN US AT RED HOT WILD 2016, AS WE SUPPORT THE MISSION OF DOORWAYS HOUSING. Through its five core programs: Cooper House, Jumpstart, Outstate, Own Home and Residential; DOORWAYS provides housing and related supportive services to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for men, women and chidren affected by HIV/AIDS. DOORWAYS serves more than 600 adults and 300 children each month. Among DOORWAYS clients, an overwhelming majority live below the federal poverty level and range in age from 10 to 72. Housing is health care. HEALTH. When people have secure and safe housing over a five-year span, AIDS related illness is reduced by more than 80%. Of the more than 1,500 people living with HIV that DOORWAYS serves, 30% find employment and become more independent, while others continue to improve their health and rebuild their lives. HOPE. With the help and guidance of dedicated social workers, DOORWAYS provides direct client services such as financial literacy training, resume writing, vocational rehabilitation, connection to mental health and other medical services, and community building to foster emotional support networks.
