Snowshoe Club: To encourage healthy activities for our students, the Epping Middle School is continuing our adventure club into the winter of The program will be held on Wednesdays beginning February 3rd thru March 2nd. The program is open to all middle school grades but space is limited. The goal of the group is to gain exercise and build community while interacting in outdoor recreation. Students who earn a "blue ticket" will have their names given to their core teachers. Teachers will then get to nominate a student from this list who they feel displays positive behavior both in and out of the classroom. A new mountain bike and helmet will be given out at an assembly this spring. Thank you Epping Lions Club for helping to fund this great incentive! 2 Sports/After School Healthy Food Choices - The Food Service Department in conjunction with the Life of a Blue Devil (LOBD) initiative is beginning an after hour food program for students who may be traveling on long trips for away games, going directly to work, or some other commitment that does not allow them to have dinner. The program may be accessed by any student who has money or money in their school lunch account. Orders will be accepted by 9:15am on the day of the needed meal. Food service employees in the cafeteria and the main offices will have the required forms for students to complete when ordering. After school meals will be ready for pick-up in the cafeteria at the end of the day. For athletes, coaches will be issued coolers in order to keep the dinner cold during bus rides. The food choices will include a sub with choice of meat, cheese, a fruit, chocolate milk, and a bag of baked chips. The cost for this meal will be $5.50. The menu is at the bottom of the newsletter. Video Recording Permission Form Students were sent home with a permission form to allow or not allow video recording for educational purposes. Please return the form ASAP. Button Design Competition Become a part of Epping History! EMS students have the opportunity to design a button to celebrate Epping s 275 th Birthday! Submit your Button Design entries between 1/11 and 1/29 to the main office, one design will be selected. Attached please find an Entry Form and more details. 8 th Grade Washington, DC payments Final Payment of $200 is due on 1/22. Please contact Ms. Sturzo if you have any questions on making payments. Please make checks out to Epping Middle School in blue or black pen. Payments will be accepted in the Middle School office by Ms. Sturzo. Parent Conferences - Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, 1/28 from 2:30 6:30. Please contact Ellen Needham at eneedham@sau14.org or x220 on or after Friday, 1/15 to schedule a conference time. 3 Adventure Club - Vertical Dreams - To encourage healthy activities for our students, EMS is offering an indoor rock climbing trip to Vertical Dreams climbing gym in Manchester. The program will be held after school on Friday, 1/29 from 2:30 7:15 pm. The program is open to all middle school grades. Specific information on the activity as well as a permission slip is located below. - Mr. DeGruttola Washington, DC Parent Meeting For all Parents will students attending the Washington, DC field trip there will be a meeting held on Wednesday, 2/10 from 6:00 7:00 pm in the 8 th grade pod. 5 On March 18th the Epping 275th Birthday Committee will be holding a dance at the Epping Legion Post #51. The dance will be held from 7pm-11pm. There will be raffles and a cash bar along with DJ Mark Allen. The cost is a donation of $12.00 a couple or $6.00 single. We are looking for raffle items for the raffle table. If you have a donation please drop it off with J oyce at the Town Hall.

6 Epping 275 th Birthday Button Design Competition Who may enter: Any Epping student, grades 1-12, may create a button design to honor the town of Epping as it celebrates 275 years as a community. The buttons should be no larger than 3 in diameter and should reflect this historic event in a positive manner. Students can create as many entries as they wish. Dates of competition: January 11, 2016-January 29, All entries need to be turned in to the Main Office by Friday, January 29, 2016 at 4:00 PM. Where to Turn in entries: The Main Offices of each of the three Epping Schools. Prizes include: Winning buttons will be put in the Epping Historical Society to commemorate this event. Prizes also include: Epping Elementary School: $50.00 Visa Gift Card Epping Middle School: Epping High School: $75.00 Visa Gift Card $ Visa Gift Card Designs will not be returned to students.

The restaurant will donate 15% of food sales to our group, which will go toward feeding school children in Epping every weekend. So come hungry and enjoy a meal out with your family!
