3 Page 3 of 6 Lobo Elementary Hardesty On the evening of Monday, April 23rd, Yarbrough High School inducted three new members to their National Honor Society chapter. Alondra Moreno, Emily Nevarez, and Kailyn Lewis joined current members: Raphael Lopez, Natalie Nevarez, Luis Gutierrez, Landon Wiggin, and Ruby Venzor.

Page 5 of 6...Yarbrough High School State Music 2018... On April 7th, Katherine Winger participated in the Oklahoma Music Teachers National Association piano competition held at OPSU.

On April 18th and 19th, Yarbrough students attended State instrumental and vocal competition participating in vocal solos, vocal ensembles and instrumental solos.

5 Page 5 of 6...Yarbrough High School State Music On April 7th, Katherine Winger participated in the Oklahoma Music Teachers National Association piano competition held at OPSU. She received a Superior ++, which is the highest possible rating. Next year she hopes to advance to state competition, and possibly the national division. On April 18th and 19th, Yarbrough students attended State instrumental and vocal competition participating in vocal solos, vocal ensembles and instrumental solos. Instrumental competition was held at Oklahoma State University. Emily Nevarez received a Superior rating for her trumpet solo. Ruby Venzor, Raphael Lopez, and Natalie Nevarez all received excellent ratings for their solos. Vocal competition was held at Oklahoma Baptist University. The mixed and belle ensembles along with soloist Emily Nevarez received excellent ratings. Kenzie Gutierrez, Landon Wiggin, Natalie Nevarez and Angelica Hernandez all received superior ratings for their vocal solos. Additionally, the Yarbrough choir and band students are recipients of the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award. This honor is granted if the students in a music program attending state competition have an over-all GPA of 3.50 to Yarbrough s music program can be heard in performance on May 7th at 7 P.M. at their Annual Spring Concert. All Yarbrough students Pre K-12th will be participating. The program will include selections from district and state competitions, individual works, and even a few surprises!
