1 Bremen Elementary-Middle School Parent Bulletin January 18, 2019 Mutual Respect Caring School Community Great Expectations MONDAY, JANUARY 21 VIRTUAL LEARNING DAY NO STUDENTS POLICE DEPARTMENT BENEFIT BASKETBALL GAME On March 15, 2019 the Bremen High School will host the 23rd Annual Bremen Police Department Benefit Basketball game. For the past 23 years the basketball game has given the community an opportunity to come together to raise funds for Bremen families in need. This year the proceeds will go to Kim Sellers. Kim (Hickman) Sellers was born and raised in Bremen. Kim began teaching 4th Grade at Bremen in 1993 and last year celebrated her 25th year of teaching. Kim was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer on October 23, 2018 and has found that the cancer has spread to her liver. Chemotherapy has already begun. Additional Chemo/ radiation, will be administered at Cleveland Clinic and will last for 6-8 weeks. The basketball game will feature the Bremen Police Department Officers and Nappanee Police Department verses the Bremen High School/ Northwood boys and girls senior players. Tip off will be at 7:30 pm in the Bremen High School boys gym. Doors will open at 6:00 pm for pregame events and festivities. Everyone is welcome to attend. Additional financial support/sponsorship and silent auction donations may be delivered to the Bremen Police department. Thank your in advance for your generosity. Let s play ball!!! SEA OF BLUE FOR SELLERS Kim Sellers has been a fourth grade teacher at Bremen Elementary Middle School for many years. She was also a coach and even attended Bremen Public Schools as a student! Unfortunately, she s been diagnosed with cancer. She s been through several rounds of chemo treatments and will soon be going to Cleveland Clinic for more chemo/radiation and then surgery. She will need to live in Cleveland for a couple of months in order to receive daily treatments. To show our love and support of Mrs. Sellers, Bremen K-8 students and staff will have a "Sea of Blue for Sellers" day on Thursday, January 24. Students are asked to wear as much blue as they can, as Mrs. Sellers loves the ocean and the blue colors that are associated with it. We will also be accepting monetary donations that day which will be used to purchase gift cards for the family as they travel to Cleveland. Thank you for your support! LOST AND FOUND Please check the Lost and Found table located next to the Nurse s office for any missing items. Any items remaining after next Friday will be donated to charity.

Here is the link to the registration site: index/gotrmspring2019 A maximum of 15 girls are allowed on each team. Bremen may have two teams if necessary. If more than 30 girls register, a lottery will be held to determine what girls will be invited to participate. Registration closes on February 1 st, and the lottery will be held on February 5 th. Cost is $160 per child. $80 if your child is on a reduced lunch plan at school, and $40 if your child is on a free lunch plan. No girl is turned away due to financial hardship. If your child is interested in participating, register her. Paper registration forms will also be made available. The season will run from late February/early March to early May. Teams will meet 2x per week for 10 weeks. One team will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays after school until 5 pm. The other team will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 5 pm. The last meeting with be a 5K celebration in South Bend on Saturday, May 11 th. Each girl can invite a special person in their life to join her in the 5K.
