(12) ðø«qø $Ö] Äö _ø Ï» iø o» jôö$] hø ç» Þö % Ö] oø Öô»ËôÆ» ] Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, forgive me those sins that sever* hope. (13) ðø føö»] Ùö ˆôß»iö o» jôö$] hø ç» Þö % Ö] oø Öô»ËôÆ» ] Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, forgive me those sins that draw down tribulation. (14) ì» èõòøn»_ô ìø Ø$ Òö äüjöf»þøƒ» gõ Þ»ƒø Ø$ Òö o» Öô» ËôÆ» ] Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, forgive me every sin that I have committed, and every mistake that I have made. (15) of Ö]ô eô Äö Ëô» jø» ôò» ô eô n»öø]ô hö $Ïøiø o» Þôù]ô Ü`ö Ö# O' Allah, verily, I seek nearness to You through your remembrance, and I seek intercession from You,* (16) á» eô»îö à» Úô o» ßôn ô øþô» iö á» ôç» rö eô Ô öòø» ø øó» ö o» ßôÂø ôç» iö and I ask You through Your munificence to bring me near (17) Your proximity, and bestow* upon me gratitude towards You, øò» ƒô o» ßôÛø ãô»iö á» and to inspire me with (18) Your remembrance.
3 ^à ô á» Ä õ ô ^ìø ]çø jøúö Øõ Öôù ø jøú% õä ô ^ìø Ùø ] ç*ø ö öòø» o» ßôÛø uø» iø o» ßvø Úô^Šø iö o» Þôù]ô Ü$ ãö #Ö O' Allah, verily, I ask You with an asking of a submissive, abased and a lowly one*, to show me forebearnace and to have Mercy on me, (19) Ùô ]çø u» Ÿ»] ø Ä ô n»ûô qø o» Êôæ$ ^ ÃÞô^Îø ^ n ô ] ø Ûô Š» Ïôeô o» ßô øãør» iø and to make me satisfied and content with Your distribution of (my) share and eô Ùø ˆøÞ» äüjöîø^êø l» $ jø» äüjøqø ^uø humble in every state. (20) ] àô Úø Ùø ] ç*ø ö ô ñô ø $ Ö] ø ß»Âô öòø» Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, I ask You with the asking of one whose indigence is extreme, who has stated to You his difficulties and the need, (21) äüjöføæ» ø öó» Úø oø Ëôìø ø ß»Âô ^Ûø n»êô Üø ö Âø and whose desire for what is with You has become great. (22) Þö^Óø Úø øâø öú» øãø ¾ø Þö^_ø» ö Üø ö Âø Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, Your authority* is great, Your place is lofty, Your plot* is hidden, and Your command is manifest; (23) à» Úô ö] øëôö»] àö Óô Û» mö Ÿø iö ø» Îö l» jôúøç» Óö uö øqø öã» Îø gø Your domination is overwhelming, and Your power is unhindered, and escape from Your governance is impossible. (24) ] iô^ ø øõ øn»æø o» vô ñô«føïøöô Ÿøæ$ ] Êô^Æø o» eôç» Þö ö Öô ö qô Ÿø Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, I find no forgiver of my sins, and no concealer of my ugly acts; (25) Ÿ ôù føúö àô Šø vø Ö» ^eô x ô nfôïøö»] oø ôûø Âø à» Úôù kø Þ» Ÿ$]ô äøöf]ô Ÿø? øæø ðõo» ø Öô Ÿø and no transformer of any of my ugly acts into good acts except You. There is no god but You. (26)

I have wronged myself, and I have been daring* in my ignorance (27) o$ øâø ßôùÚø o» Öô ôò» ƒô Üô m» ô Îø of Ö]ô kö ß»Óø ø and I have relied upon Your prior* remembrance of me, and Your favor towards me. (28) àø Úôù õ ô^êø à» Úôù Ü» Òø äöiø» jø ø x õ n»fôîø à» Úôù Ü» Òø pø Ÿøç» Úø äüjø»îø ðô øføö»]? ^âø ôæ» Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah*, O' my protector! How many ugly things You have concealed. How many burdensome tribulations You have abolished! (29) äüjøã» Êø ø öçöeô åõæ» öó» Úø à» Úôù Ü» Òø äüjøn»îø æ$ õ^%øâô à» Úô Ü» Òø And how many stumbles You have prevented, and how many ordeals You have repelled! (30) äüiø» ø Þø äüö$ â» kö Š» Ö$ Øõ n»ûô qø ðõ«ßø$ø à» Úô Ü» Òø And how much beautiful praise, for which I was unworthy, You have broadcasted*. (31) o» Öô^uø ðöç» ö o» eô ½ø øê» pô, ø?eø Üø ö Âø Ü$ `ö Ö# O' Allah, my tribulation is tremendous, my wretchedness* is excessive, (32) o» Öô øæ» o» eô l» ø ÃøÎø o» Öô^Ûø » o» eô l» ø ö Îø my acts are inadequate and my fetters have tied me down, (33) ^nøþ» % Ö] o» ßôj»Âø ø ìø o» Öô^Úø! ö û eö o» ÃôË» Þø à» Âø o» ßôŠø føuø my far-fetched hopes have held me back from my gain, and this world with its delusions, (34) pô, «Âø ö o» Öô^_ø Úô ^ ãø jôþø ^nøíô eô o» Šô Ë» Þø my soul* with its betrayal*, and my procrastination* have deceived me. (35) ß»Âø gø rö v» mø Ÿ$ á» iôˆ$ãôeô öòø» ^Ê ø p» ô n ô ù ø O' my Master! So I ask You by Your might, not to let my evil (36) works and acts veil my supplication from You, ^mø
5 p» kø û ø $ ] ^Úø oôù Ëôíø eô o» ßôv» ø Ë» iø Ÿø o» Öô^ÃøÊô o» ôûø Âø ðöç» ö p» ôù ô à» Úô äôn» øâø not to disgrace me with what is hidden*, of what You know of my secrets, (37) o» iô]çø øìø o» Êô äüjö»ûô Âø ^Úø of Âø èôeøç» ÏöÃöÖ»^eô o» ßô»qô ^Ãøiö Ÿø and not to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private: (38) o» jôöø ^ãø qø o» _ô m» ôë» iø Ýô] ø o» iô ðø«ø ]ô o» ôã» Êô ðôç, ö à» Úô My evil act in secrecy, my misdeeds, my continuous negligence, my ignorance, (39) o» Êô o$ øâø æ$^ê æ. ø ôú» o» jô øë» Æø o» iô]çø ãø ø éô ø%»òø my manifold passions and my heedlessness*. (40) ^ãø ôùòö Ùô ]çø u» Ÿ»] ø oêô o» Öô ^Ê ç» _ö Âø ôç» Úö öÿ»] Ä ô n»ûô qø iôˆ$ãôeô Ü$ `ö Ö#] àô Òö And by Your Honor*, O' Allah, be kind to me in all states, and be gracious to me in all affairs! (41) o» Êô ø ø ß$Ö] p» ôù ö Ìø» Òø äü öòø» ø] ön»æø o» Öô à» Úø o» eôù ø o» ãô ÖF]ô My God and my Lord, who do I Have besides* You from whom to ask for removal of my affliction, and regard for my affairs. (42) pø Ÿøç» Úø o» ãöf]ô My God and my Master*. (43) o» Šô Ë» Þø p]çf âø äôn»êô kö û føi$] ôá ^Û Ó» uö o$ øâø kø m» øq» *You decreed a law for me, but I followed the lowly desires of my soul*, (44) p» æôù ö Âø àô n» ô môˆ» iø à» Úô äô n» Êô Œ» ôjøu» Ü» Öø and did not remain wary of adorning my enemy (45) ðö«ø ÏøÖ»] Öô]ƒø of Âø åü ø Ãø» pf çø â» ^Ûø eô o» Þô $ÇøÊø So, he deluded me through my soul's caprice, and therein fate* favored him (46) ôæ» ö uö ø û eø Öô]ƒø à» Úô o$ øâø pf øqø ^Ûø eô lö» ^rø So in what was put into effect upon me in that situation, I transgressed some of Your statutes, (47) jöêø
6 ^Ê ôjøã» Úö Öô]ƒø Ä ô n»ûô qø o» Êø o$ øâø èör$ vö Ö»] øêø ôúô] ø û eø kö Ë» Öø^ìø and I disobeyed some of Your commands. So, Yours is the proof* against me in all that (48) o» Šô Ë» Þø æ.«ø Îø äôn»êô o$ øâø pf øqø ^Ûø n»êô o» Öô èør$ uö Ÿø and I have no argument against Your judgement* on me, (49) æ. øeø? Ûö Ó» uö o» ßôÚøˆøÖ» nor in what Your decree and Your tribulation imposed upon me. (50) 1F Âø o» Êô] ø» ]ô p» ôn» ô Ï» iø ø û eø o» ãô ÖF]ô«mø jön»iø» Îø Now I have come to You, my God, after my shortcoming and my immoderation towards myself, (51) ^ß Âô» Ú% ] &ÏôÚö ^fô n»ßôú% ] ËôÇ» jøš» Úö n»ïôjøš» Ú% ] Šô Óø ß»Úö ^Ú& ô^þø ] ô jøã» Úö offering my excuse,regretful, broken, apologizing, asking forgiveness, repenting, acknowledging, submissive, confessing. (52) o» Îô^$ø ôù ø p» ô» Âö o» ßôùÚô áø ^Òø ^ Û$ Ú( ] &Ëø Úø ö qô Ÿù ø I find no place to flee from what occured through me, (53) Öôç» föîö øn»æø p» ôú» o» Êô äôn»öø]ô äöq$ çø iø ^Âø ˆøË» Úø Ÿø nor any place of refuge* to which I may turn in my matters*, other than Your acceptance of my excuse, (54) jôûø u» ø èôãø ø o» Êô pø ^m$]ô Öô^ìø» ]ô and Your entering me into the vastness* of Your Mercy. (55) à» Úô o» ßôÓ$ Êö p» ôù ö éø $ ô Ü» uø» ] p» ô» Âö Ø» føî» ^Êø Ü$ `ö Ö#] O' Allah* so, accept my excuse, have mercy upon the severity of my affliction, and release me from the tightness of my fetters. (56) o» Þô ø eø Ìø û ø Ü» uø» ] hôù ø ^mø My Lord, have Mercy upon the weakness of my body, (57) o» Ûô» Âø èø Î$ ô p» ô»qô èøî$ ô the thinness of my skin and the frailty of my bones. (58)
7 o» jômø ô Ç» iø p» ôùeô o» jônøeô» iø p» ôò» ƒô o» Ïô»ìø ]* ø eø Ýà» Úø ^øm O' You, who gave rise to my creation, to my remembrance, to my nurturing, to goodness towards me, and to my nourishment*; (59) ô n»uô ç» iø ø û eø o» eô ôùeô Ìô Öô^ ø Úô øòø ðô ø jôe» Ÿô ô o» ßôf» âø bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise (to me) with generosity, and Your previous goodness to me! (60) ô^ßøeô o» eô ôù ÃøÚö ] øiö o» eôù ø p» ô n ô ù ø o» ãô O' My God, my Master and my Lord! Can You see Yourself tormenting me with Your fire, after I have professed Your Unity? fôùuö jôêø ôã» Úø à» Úô o» fô»îø äôn» øâø pçf _ø Þ»]^Úø ø û eø After the knowledge of You that my heart has embraced, (62) à» Úô p» ôn»ûô ø åü ø Ïøjø» ] ÖF]ô «mø ôò» ƒô à» Úô o» Þô^Šø Öô ä eô sø ãô Öø Your remembrance which my tongue has constantly mentioned, and Your love to which my mind has clung? (63) jôn$eôç» eö ööô ^à ô ^ìø o» ñô«âø ö o» Êô] øjôâ» ] Ñô» ô ø û eø After the sincerity of my confession and sincerity* of my supplication, humble before Your Lordship. (64) äüjøn»e$ $ à» Úø Äø n ô ù ø iö á» à» Úô Ýö øò» kø Þ» lø ^ãø n»âø Far be it*, You are more noble* than that You would squander him whom You have nurtured, (65) ø ôù ø iö æ» äüjøn»þø» à» Úø ø Ãôùføiö»æ äüjøm»! à» Úø or distance* him whom You have brought near*, or drive away him whom You have sheltered*, (66) äü jøû» uô ø äü jøn»ëøòø à» Úø ðô øføö»]? oöø]ô Üø ôùšø iö æ» or submit to tribulation, him whom You have spared and shown mercy. (67) pø Ÿøç» Úø o» ãô ÖF]ô p» ô n ô ù ø ^mø p» ôã» ô kø n»öø Would that I knew, my Master, my God and my Protector, (68) (61)
8 è uø ô^úø é ø qô ^ ø jôûø ø ÃøÖô l» $ìø åõç» qö æö 1F Âø ø^ß$ö] ¼ö ôùšø iö would You give the fire control* over faces that have fallen down prostrate in front of Your exaltedness*, (69) ôó» ö eô æ$ è Îø ô^ ø ô n»uô ç» jøeô k» Ïø_ø Þ$ àõ Šö Ö» of Âø and over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Oneness*, and giving thanks to You in praise, (70) è Ãø ô ^ìø è ÏøÏôùvø Úö jôn$ãô ÖF ^ôeô k» Êø øjø » ] áhô ô ç» öîö 1F Âø æ$ and hearts acknowledging Your Divinity by affirmation*, (71) l» ø^ ø of j$uø eô Üô»ÃôÖ»] àø Úô l» çø uø øñô«ûø ø and minds encompassing knowledge of You until they have become humble, (72) è Ãøñô«ø ô f%ãøiø á ô ^ ø æ» ] øof Ö]ô k» Ãø ø ø ô]çø qø 1F Âø æ$ and bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience, (73) è ßøÂô» Úö ô^ëøç» jô» ^ôeô l» ø^ ø æ$ and seeking* Your forgiveness in submission. (74) Üö m» ôòø ^mø eô à% $ Ö]] ø Óø âf ^Ú$ No such opinion is held about You! (75) ß»Âø ô» Ëøeô ^Þø» fôì» ]ö Ÿø Nor have we been informed* about You, (76) thanks to Your bounty, O' All-generous. ^ãø iô^eøç» ÏöÂö ^nøþ» % Ö] ðô øeø? Ýà» Úôù Øõ n» ôîø à» Âø o» Ëôû ø Üö øã» iø kø Þ» hôù ø ^mø My Lord, You know my weakness facing a little of this world's tribulations and its punishments (77) ^ãø ôâ» 1F Âø å ô^óø Ûø Ö»] àø Úô ^ãø n»êô p» ôr» mø ^Úø and facing* in it the ordeals which befall its inhabitants, (78) äü iö $ Ú% ºn» ô Îø åüæ.«ïøeø Ý º n»šô mø äü %öó» Ú$ غ n» ô Îø åºæ» öó» Úø æ$ ðº øeø? Öô]ƒø á$ of Âø even though that is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short, whose existence* is but little, and whose duration* is but fleeting. (79) of Âø æ$
9 _ô íø ^ãø n»êô åô ô^óø Ûø Ö»] Å ô ç» Îöæö Øô n» ôqø éô øìô Ÿ»] F ðô ø? føöô o» Öô^Ûø jôu» ] Ìø n»óø Êø So, how can I endure the tribulation of the next world, and the great ordeals that occur within it? (80) äü Úö^ÏøÚø ø ÔÚô^ÏøjôÞ»]ô Ýö æ» ö mø äüiö $ Úö Ùö ç» _ö iø ðº øeø? çø âö For, it is a tribulation whose period is long, whose station endures, (81) fô ø Æø à» Âø Ÿ$]ô áö ç» Óö mø Ÿø äüþ$ Ÿô ø ä ôâ» à» Âø and whose sufferers are given no respite, since it only occurs as a result of Your wrath, Your vengeance*, (82) ön»ïôvø šö» Ÿ»] ø lö çf ÛF Š$ Ö] äüöø Ýöç» Ïöiø Ÿø^Úø ] ø âf and these cannot be withstood by the heavens and the earth. (83) Ö»] Øö n»öô $ Ö] Ìö n»ãô $ Ö] ö f»âø ^Þø o» eô Ìø àö n»óô jøš» Ûö Ö»] àö n»óô Š» Ûô Ö»] n»óø Êø p» ô n ô ù ø My Master, so what about me, while I am Your weak, lowly, base, wretched and miserable slave? (84) pø Ÿøç» Úø p» ô n( ø o» eôù ø o» ãô ÖF]ô «mø My God, my Lord, my Master, my Protector! (85) o» Óô e» s% ô ^ãø ß»Úô ^Ûø Öô ç» Óö» n»öø]ô ôç» Úö Ÿ» ö ] pôù Ÿô ø For which things would I complain to You and for which of them would I clamour* and cry*? (86) ä iô $ Úö ðô øføö»]? Ùô ç» _ö Öô Ý» ä iô $ ô hô ] ø ÃøÖ»] Üô n»öô Ÿô ø For the pain and severity of chastisement? Or for the length and period of tribulation? (87) ñô ø » Äø Úø lô ^eøç» ÏöÃöÖ»] oêô o» ßôiø»n$ ø à» òô øêø So, if You were to subject* me to the punishments along with Your enemies, (88) ñô øeø? Øô â» àø n»eø o» ßôneø kø û Ûø qø and were to join me with those subject* to Your tribulation, (89) ñô«nøöôæ» ñô«f$uô àø n»eø o» ßôn»eø kø λ $Êø and were to separate me from Your beloved* ones and Your saints, (90) Ìö ^mø Ë$íø mö Ÿø

Úø p» ô n ô ù ø o» ãô ÖF]ô «mø o» ßôf»ãø Êø then suppose, my God, my Master, my Protector and my Lord, (91) Îô] øêô of Âø öfô» Ìø n»óø Êø eô] ø Âø of Âø lö»fø ø that I am able to endure Your chastisement, then how can I endure separation from You? (92) öfô» Ìø n»óø Êø ô^þø ôùuø of Âø lö» fø ø jôúø] øòø of Ö]ô ô ø ß$Ö] àô Âø o» ßôf»âø And suppose I am able to endure the heat of Your fire; how can I endure not gazing upon Your generosity? (93) çö Ë» Âø o» ñô«qø ø ô^ß$ö] oêô àö Óö» Ìø n»òø Or, how can I dwell in the fire while my hope is in Your pardon? (94) à» òôö$ ^Î ô^ ø Üö Šô λ]ö pø Ÿøç» Úø p» ô n ô ù ø ^Ï ô ^Þø o» ßôjøÒ» øiø ^mø Ý» iôˆ$ãôfôêø So, by Your might, my Master and my Protector, I swear truthfully*, that if You leave me with speech, (95) àø n» ôúô Ÿ»] ø sø n»rô ø ^ãø ôâ» àø n»eø n»öø]ô à$ r$ ô Ÿ$ * I will bewail* to You from the midst of its* (96) inhabitants with the bewailing* of the hopeful; n» øâø à$ nøóô e» Ÿø * àø n»ìô ô» jøš» Ûö Ö»] ïø ] ø ö àø m» ô Îô^ËøÖ»] ðø«óø eö n»öø]ô à$ ìø ö» Ÿø * I will scream* to You with the screaming* of those crying out for help; I will bemoan* to You with the bemoaning* of the bereft; (97) àø n»êô ô^ãøö»] Ùô ^Úø! èømø^æø ^mø àø n»ßôúôç. Ûö Ö»] o$ Öô ^mø kø ß»Òö àø m» ß$mø ô^þø Ÿø. And I will call* to You,"where are You, O' Sponsor of the believers, O' Goal of the the hopes of (Your) knowers, (98) àø n»îô ô^ $ Ö] hô ç» öîö gø n»fôuø ^mø àø n»%ôn»çôjøš» Ûö Ö»] 'ø ^nøæô O' Aid of those who call for help, O' beloved* of the hearts of the truthful, (99) ô Û» vø eô o» ãô ÖF]ô «mø Þø^vø f» ö ^mø ] øjöêø àø n»ûô Öø^ÃøÖ»] äøöf ]ô«mø and O' God of the worlds*," can You see Yourself-Glory be to You my God, and by Your Praise- (100)
