1 Introduction Kenya Forestry Seed Centre (KFSC) is part of the Tree Seed Programme at Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI). KFSC is mandated to provide certified site appropriate, high quality tree seed in sufficient quantities. Since its establishment in 1985, the Centre has been involved in collecting, processing, testing and distributing high quality tree seeds.. Seeds are collected from established seed orchards and selected seed stands of both exotic and indigenous tree species in all the ecological zones of Kenya. The Centre has a well equipped laboratory and specialized staff who carry out seed quality tests for germination, purity, moisture content and weight in accordance with the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) protocols to ensure the required standards. The Centre is also a registered seed merchant by the Kenya Plant Health Inspection Service (KEPHIS). This Tree Seed Catalogue February 2014 has been Revisedfor the Centre s existing and potential clients such as the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), individual farmers, Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and others involved in tree planting programmes. This should enhance our seed distribution and enable us to serve our customers even better. The Catalogue has both domestic and international prices. Seed can be ordered in varying quantities to meet client s requirements. Information on seed handling and sowing is provided for most of the seeds. This information is also available in all the KFSC distribution Centres and on request by any client before, during and after seed purchase. 1
