2 18th Annual CEC Wine Tasting Benefit and Auction RARE WINE AUCTION BOOK All wines have been stored at 55 degrees by original buyers unless otherwise noted. Many of these wines are not available anywhere except auction. The boutique Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, Chardonnays, Merlots, & Cabernets from California and Oregon are from Winery Direct suppliers and are in some cases not available to anyone except those fortunate enough to be on the mailing list. Those of you familiar with these wine will recognise that immediately. Imported wines from France & Italy are also rare and in some cases not available even at auction. We have placed a low reserve (minimum bid) on every wine for your convenience. Bidding higher than the street or estimated market value is what drives the value (see Auction pricing next page for more information). If you haven t had some of these highly prized wines, you are in for a treat. They are fabulous! We recommend that any wine purchased be allowed to settle in your home or cellar for 30 days or more before consuming. Any wine transported by vehicle needs rest. Good luck and bon appétit! We cannot guarantee that all wines will have maintained their original quality. Wines age differently from producer to producer and from vintage to vintage. 3 AUCTION PRICING The value is estimated on current market pricing. These wines are rare and not available except through auctions or on the internet. The ultimate price is determined by what the wine is worth to you. You may pay $30.00 more that the estimated value today and a year from now it could go up $50.00 or more in value. Slightly hazy greenish-yellow color. Captivating, highly nuanced nose offers lime zest, lemon candy, nutmeg and crushed stone. Dense, thick and powerful, but for all its intensity this offers a magically light touch. The pineapple and crushed stone flavors are framed and intensified by sappy, perfectly integrated acidity and complicated by a leesy element. Thick and densely packed but quite closed; comes across as more classically dry than the regular Chevalier-Montrachet, as well as more difficult to taste today. But this has terrific verve and a very long and impressively suave finish. ANSWER: It s not, but it is however different! The White Burgundy is usually has better balance to last over time. It has more acidity to let it age longer therefore increasing it s value to collectors. Also most wine and cuisine masters consider White Burgundy better with food due to it s balanced acidity. California Chardonnay may taste much better younger though. Just some simple points to help in your decisions.

The Echezeaux is usually DRC s lightest wine. The 1991 displays a deep ruby color, a tight but promising bouquet of smoky oak and rich red and black fruits, and moderate tannin in the finish. It s beautifully proporitoned, deliciously fruity, complex, finishing with toasty oak. JL Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Mountain 1986 WS 91 points Tasted from magnum. This still seems on the way up. It s firm and tannic and may dry out, but the currant, cherry and mineral flavors are young and vibrant, turning more complex on the finish where herb and tobacco flavors fold in. JL Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Mountain 1987 WS 93 points Tasted from magnum. Dark, ripe, intense and concentrated, packed with rich currant, mineral, spice, cedar and berry flavors. While mellowing, it s still quite vibrant and dense. Can go another decade California Cabernet horizontal. 50 cases made. JL Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Mountain 1988 WS 88 points Solid, with ripe, rich, concentrated currant, anise, mineral, sage and berry notes. Tightly wound, it s well balanced, and shows more depth and richness than most 88s California Cabernet retrospective..
