For the sweet wines there is nearly no botrytis, but what is there is very pure, with many perfectly clean, dried raisins making the wines crystal clear, racy and noble. 3 "It is hard to believe what Keller creates, in a cellar each vintage." - Fine The Wine Magazine, December Rieslaner Auslese 375ml From 60 year old vines: A Keller Rieslaner Auslese 1971 was the wine my mother and father drank at their first date (my mother was also a young wine student). My mother (who comes from Mosel and only knows Riesling) was so fascinated by the wine that she immediately fell in Love with Klaus (she did not tell him for sure!), and the Rieslaner variety. After their first meeting they went out twice, then my mother started a vintage in South Africa, Klaus flew after her to SA and only 3 weeks later they got married and my grandparents face turned pale when they both came back and Klaus said; let me introduce my wife Hedwig to you. They must have looked very shocked, but this all can happen when you drink Rieslaner! This 2017 Rieslaner Auslese is from a small vineyard that my father bought my mother as a Christmas gift in My mother was never been interested in jewels etc... so her dream was to make a Rieslaner from old vines and the vines at that time were 35yo already and produced fantastic quality. When in mid 90s our Rieslaner won in a blind tasting against Chateau d Yquem, there was even a little Rieslaner hype. The fruit is a bit more exotic than Riesling (more mango, passionfruit, pineapple), racy acidity, very fresh, pure and with focused complex flavours. - K.P. OCTOBER THIS YEAR 2017 Nierstein Riesling Hipping Kabinett 750ml This steep red slate Grand Cru site often makes classic Kabinetts. In fact the 2016 was one of Keller s VDP auction wines and it all sold for AUD $358 per bottle (inc. Au taxes)! Made from non-botrytis grapes, but so minerally, steely and bursting with tropical and citrus fruits. With a little sweetness, crisp finish and beautiful minerality, this is precision balanced perfection.

4 2017 Westhofen Riesling AbtsE Spatlese 8.5% alc 750ml A classic spätlese from this low yielding limestone rock site Westhofen Riesling Auslese 8% alc 375ml This wine is from botrytised grapes grown in Morstein and AbtsE. A very mineral wine, chalky fruit, brilliant acidity, with a lot of beautiful botrytis sweetness with racy acidity and a lot of energy. Like a butterfly it dances on your tongue and it s not often we have a pure sweet wine with this level of botrytis and such high quality for this restaurant pouring price. - K.P. Keller 2017 Westhofen Kirchpiel Riesling Auslese 8% alc 750 ml Amazing value for a classic non-botrytis auslese. A great comparison to the wine above, less honey, less glycerol and more cirtrus.
