3 Monday Sacramento Area Trip Breakfast at Hotel, 7 AM 8:15 AM (no host) Bus leaves from W&R Hotel, 8:30 AM Arrive Sacramento, approximately 10:30 AM Custom guided tour of California State Capitol Lunch: Delta King Riverboat restaurant (Pilothouse) in Sacramento. Lunch menu will include at least one vegetarian option. Website: Afternoon, we ve provided for tours of three outstanding museums you may choose which of these you wish to see, or sightsee on your own 1 PM -- California State Railroad Museum (Outstanding! Widely regarded as North America's best railroad museum) 2:30 PM -- California Auto Museum (formerly Towe Museum, with the largest collection of Fords in the world). Crocker Art Museum, other museums, as desired Dinner: Firehouse restaurant in Old Sacramento. Named in Zagat America s Top Restaurants, The Firehouse is the most award-winning, fine dining restaurant in the Sacramento region. Built in 1853 and originally the home of the Sacramento No. 3 firehouse, the restaurant was the first building in Old Sacramento to be restored and is designated a historical landmark. 5 Tuesday Wine Country Trip Breakfast at Hotel, 7 AM 9 AM (no host) Leave from W&R Hotel, 9:30 AM Drive north toward Thornton and Twin Cities Road, then west toward the Sacramento River. North through the Lodi wine country to Clarksburg (home of Bogle Vineyards) North along the west bank of the Sacramento River heading toward West Sacramento and then the City of Davis, then we will loop up to Winters and then snake along the south eastern bank of Lake Berryessa, dropping down to Rutherford (via highway 128) in the Napa Valley From there we ll drive through Saint Helena ending in Calistoga where we will have Lunch On Your Own with several fine eateries to choose from. After lunch, a drive along the Silverado Trail to visit the local wineries and a tour. While we still have our wits about us, we ll continue east on the Silverado Trail traveling back over the mountain to Suisun City for a coffee break. Then, continuing east on Hwy 12 for dinner and cocktails at Peter s Steak House In Isleton. Cost of dinner to be borne by registrants (i.e., not hosted by M-100 group) Return to the hotel after dinner Today we enjoy food, driving, wine tasting, tours, and wonderful scenery in the heart of Napa Valley, where the Wine is Bottled Poetry (Robert Louis Stevenson).

8 Wednesday Gold Country Trip Breakfast at Hotel, 7 AM 9 AM (no host) Leave from W&R Hotel, 9:30 AM Drive North and East, into the Sierra foothills, to the California 1849 Gold Discovery Site, near Coloma (69 miles, approx. 1.5 hours) Guided tour of the Marshall Gold Discovery Site, on South Fork of the American River, the event which led to the greatest mass movement of people in the Western Hemisphere Lunch at the Gold Discovery Site State Park, catered by the Argonaut Café. Drive south on the Gold Country Highway, CA 49, through Placerville ( Hangtown ), Eldorado, Plymouth, and Drytown. We complete our Gold Country trip in the historic town of Jackson, the Heart of the Mother Lode, with many historic buildings. We ll have time before dinner for sightseeing in the charming, very walkable historic downtown (42 miles from Gold Discovery Site, approx. 1 hour) Dinner at the National Hotel in downtown Jackson. The splendid Victorian National Hotel was built in 1852, as the grand dame of California Gold Country. She is the longest, continuously running hotel in California. Dinner hosted by the M-100 group (i.e., cost included in registration fee). After dinner, we return to our Hotel in Lodi about 45 minutes

Formerly home to Dave Brubeck D = Willow Creek Road (cutoff to CA-16) E = Latrobe; from here, head northeastward on Shingle Road F = Gold Hill. Center of the quartz-mining frenzy (quartz gold) of Production of $4M from Gold Hill, G = Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, Coloma. James W. Marshall discovered gold in 1848 on the South Fork of the American River. This event led to the greatest mass movement of people in the Western Hemisphere and was the spark that ignited the spectacular growth of the West during the ensuing decades. The gold discovery site, located in the still visible tailrace of Sutter's sawmill, in present day Coloma, is one of the most significant historic sites in the nation. H = Placerville. Because of its key position along the 49er trail Placerville was early home to many notable Americans, including Levi Strauss (blue jeans invented here), John Studebaker, poet Edwin Markham, and railroad baron/hotelier Mark Hopkins I = Plymouth.
