1 January Pro Shop Grille Fitness Center Membership Letter Greens & Dues Update for 2017 Dear Members We wanted to thank you for choosing to be a member of Dunes West and for your support throughout the year. We hope you enjoyed the 25th Anniversary Events along with the Member Appreciation events in November. Here s to 25 more great years! We had many weather related challenges in It was an exceptionally wet winter, cool and cloudy spring with a very hot summer. We saw 16 inches of rain in September and a major hurricane in October, capped off with unseasonably cold weather in November! Although most of the golf course was in great shape this year, some of the greens struggled coming out of the offseason overseed in June. This struggle was felt by many clubs in the south and was caused by the 28 of rain received the previous October. Because of these conditions the roots supporting the grass on the greens became very weak and succumbed to various diseases. We took immediate and aggressive action to repair the greens and I am happy to say they are in great shape { going into the winter months. Agronomical steps were taken to increase root growth and leaf stability and these steps will continue going into the winter months. The greens are in a state of healing and in order to increase the growth time into the winter it was determined that NOT OVERSEEDING them this year would be the best course of action. We consulted agronomy experts and determined this to be best for the long term health of our greens. What does this mean for the winter months? It means that the greens will be a little off color. We will paint them with a light shade of green when we fertilize to give them some color. They will also be much faster than they normally are during the winter months. We need your cooperation with a couple housekeeping items regarding non-overseeded greens. It is imperative that all ball marks are repaired. Please repair your ball mark and if possible one more as well. Please tell your friends and guests this as well. The staff will spend more time this winter repairing ball marks as well to keep the greens as smooth as possible. Our new owners, the Feeney Family would like me to thank you for your support. They are looking forward to a full year of ownership in With the new ownership more than 80 members added either Rivertowne or Snee Farm to their memberships. We hope you enjoy the flexibility of playing three of the finest golf courses in the area! Save the Date! Thursday Dinner 5-9 p.m. RSVP January 10 Women Who Wine Book Club Finally dues we will be increasing approximately 2% beginning in January This will help us continue to increase our purchase/lease of new maintenance equipment, new golf carts (arrived in December) along with addressing some capital items that are in the planning stages for Thank you all again for 25 great years! We wish you and your family a happy and prosperous new year! q Respectfully, Richard Rankin and the entire Dunes West Family! GOLF & PREMIER MEMBERS ONLY
