FX Rates Currency against Sterling Opened November Closed November Dollar Euro Soft Commodities Sugar prices on LIFFE have fallen (-3%) due to large global supplies however, prices remained stable on ICE (0%) due to good demand. Cocoa bean prices fell on both ICE (-4%) and LIFFE (-%) as production is expected to exceed demand causing a surplus of 40,000 tonnes. Cocoa butter has fallen (-5%) however, prices for cocoa powder have increased (+7%) due to rising demand from emerging markets for lower priced powder. Oils & Fats Soyabean oil prices remained steady in Rotterdam (0%), as good weather during the growing period resulted in soyabean production increasing 9% y-o-y to 3.m tonnes in 204/5. Palm oil prices fell in Rotterdam (-2%), driven by good supply prospects. Palm kernel oil prices and rapeseed oil were also down in Rotterdam (-%) as good supply prospects are keeping prices at low levels. (+%). Coconut oil prices rose in Rotterdam (+%). Extra virgin olive oil prices rose in Italy and Spain (+8%), due to drought conditions in Spain and an infestation of the olive fruit fly in Italy. Grains Milling wheat prices on LIFFE Paris increased (+4%) due to shortages of high quality supplies. Ingredients US almond prices declined in the EU (-4%) due to lower demand. Spanish almonds were also down (-3%). Cashew nut prices fell (-3%) on reduced demand. Peanut markets showed mixed trends with prices of South American peanuts rising (+2%), however US peanut prices declined (-3%). Turkish hazelnut prices remained unchanged (0%) but at high levels. Desiccated coconut prices fell slightly (-2%) last month, but have remained relatively stable and high since February 204. Turkish sultana prices spiked in October due to quality concerns but have since fallen (-2%). Turkish dried apricot prices continued to slide (-8%) due to lower demand following reluctance from buyers to pay current high prices. Meat & Dairy EU milk production continues to seasonally decline, although remains up y-o-y. EU butter prices fell (-%), with prices in the UK falling (-2%). SMP prices in the EU continued to drop with decreases seen in the UK (-7%). WMP prices in the EU also fell (-3%). Cheddar cheese prices dropped in the UK (-2%). EU egg prices continued to increase (+4%), with increases seen in Belgium (+5%) and the Netherlands (+5%). Processed egg prices in the EU also increased, with whole liquid egg up (+5%) rising, while liquid egg white and liquid yolk remained stable. Energy Brent crude oil continued to fall on ICE London (-0%), due to slowing demand and increasing supply. Global oil supply is estimated to have reached 94.2m bbl/d in October, up by 2.7m bbl/d y-o-y, due to a combination of both OPEC and non-opec supply growth. Prices for petrol (-8%) and diesel (-9%) fell in Europe, in line with crude oil prices.
