2 The Farm The farm of Drocco Luigi, also known as Cascina Pontepietra, is located at the foot of the eastern side of the Diano d Alba hill at the border between the townships of Alba and Diano d Alba. The farm has been managed for 30 years by the familiy of Luigi Drocco, who, with his wife Silvana and sons Fabrizio and Roberto, dedicate themselves with passion and respect of tradition to grape growing and wine making. The farm develops over 15 hectares of land with vineyards of Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Arneis, Chardonnay and Moscato. The cultivation methods are very rigorous. Nothing is left to chance since that is the only way to obtain superior quality wines in which to find again the terroir and the experience that have produced them. Wine making takes place in a cellar where the canons of tradition are supported by modern technology which facilitates wine and makes it more reliable. 1

3 Langhe Favorita Langhe Arneis Langhe Favorita is the other white grape vine of Roero, a vine that has won over the appreciation of the Roero farmers to become the Uva Favorita, the favored grape. The Favorita has BEEN grown in the Roero area for hundreds of years as well as in the rest of Italy, but is named differently depending on the growing area. Favorita is made with grapes from vineyards located on the hills around Alba that slope down towards the Tanaro river, where the microclimatic conditions are optimal for the production of quality wines. Wine making: white vinification with soft pressing and immediate separation of the must from the skins. Fermentation is slow in temperature controlled tanks at C in the presence of selected yeasts; the wine is stabilized and it is ready to be bottled.during the first few months of the new year. Organoleptic characteristics: light straw color with greenish reflections. A fresh and elegant nose, with herbaceous hints. Harmonic and dry taste, livened up by a slight fizz with a marked sensation of freshness and with a good body. Alcohol content: 12-13% by vol. Acidity: 5,0 It goes well with cold meat appetizers and fish dishes, but it is an easy and social dring outside meals, excellent as an aperitif. Will keep 2 years under optimal storage conditions Serving temperature: 8-10 C. This wine is created from a selection of Arneis grapes originating in the lands located to the right of the Tanaro river, in the zone of Alba. It is a dry white wine with a light body. Young, fresh and scented, it feels pleasantly bitterish and herbal in the mouth with a long finish. Its bouquet is intense. Ideal as apéritif, it accompanies starters, white meats, fish and cheeses. Grape varietal: 100% Arneis Alcohol contents: 12-12,5% vol. Acidity: 6-7 gr/l. Serving temperature: 8-10 C. It has a straw yellow colour of medium intensity with amber reflections. This wine is very well - known in the zones of Langhe and Roero thanks to its simplicity and freshness, which make it enjoyable and easy to drink and share. 2 3

4 Langhe Chardonnay Dolcetto d Alba This is a white, rich, good - bodied wine with an outstanding personality. It is young, fresh and scented. It has an intense aroma and a longlasting taste. Excellent as an apéritif, it matches poultry, fish and savoury dishes quite well. Thanks to its well - balanced acidity, it is the perfect match for local cheeses. Grape varietal: 100% Chardonnay Alcohol contents: 12-12,5% vol. Acidity: 6-7 gr/l. Serving temperature: 8-10 C. It has a straw yellow colour of medium intensity with greenish reflections. Its dry and rich taste confirms its importance. This is a special white for the Pontepietra winery, which, thanks to the soil and vinification methods, has obtained several acknowlegdements in the oenologic field. Its good body and structure allow this wine to live well after the year of production and improve its characteristics. This wine is created from blending Dolcetto grapes from different vineyards in the District of Alba. It is a winous, fresh, fruity and young red wine, suitable for a complete meal excluding game dishes. Grape varietal: 100% Dolcetto Alcohol contents: 12-12,5% vol. Acidity: 5,5-6 gr/l. Serving temperature: C. Its colour is ruby red with hints of violet and its bouquet is fresh and winey. It feels well - balanced and round in the mouth. This wine representes the simplicity and harmony of the Dolcetto varietal. It stays 6 months in vats and 1 month in the bottle before release for sale. Maturing slowly, it is at its best midway through the year following production. 4 5

5 Barbera d Alba Superiore Nebbiolo d Alba This wine is created from a selection of Barbera grapes from the area of Alba. This wine is red, fresh, slightly silky and fruity. It has good body and goes well with stewed or boiled meats and game dishes. Grape varietal: 100% Barbera Alcohol contents: 12,5-13,5% vol. Acidity: 6-6,5 gr/l. Serving temperature: 18 C. Its colour is ruby red with garnet reflections acquired after maturation. Its bouquet is winous, intense and delicate. It is soft, almost velvety, round and balanced in the mouth. This wine proves the producer s commitment to meet the new trends of the market, i.e. sweetness and softness. It is suitable for ageing in the bottle and is realeased for sale after 8 months of maturation in vats. This is a red wine with good body. It is rather dry when young but becomes more silky and improves its bouquet after ageing. It goes well with stewed meats, game and dishes with spicy sauces. It is the best choice for an important meal. Grape varietal: 100% Nebbiolo Alcohol contents: 13-13,5% vol. Acidity: 6-7 gr/l. Serving temperature: 18 C. It has a a rather intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections acquired after maturation. If aged, it can develop orange reflections. Its bouquet is delicate with hints of violets but it becomes more intense and reaches perfection after ageing. It has a dry, almost velvety taste that improves with age, underlying the importance of the wine. The Nebbiolo grape is among the four most important world varietals. This product highlights the respect for tradition and the constant effort of the winemaker to continue the production of a first rate wine. Suitable for ageing in the bottle, it remains one year in vats before its release for sale. The wine obtained in the best vintages can be aged for over three years and still maintain its best characteristics. 6 7

6 Pontepietra Dolcetto d Alba This is a choice wine created from grapes from a single vineyard which faces east, south - east at the bottom of the Diano d Alba hill in the district of Alba. Characteristics: its colour is red and its bouquet is very fruity and fresh. It has good body; it can accompany meat dishes or an elaborate meal. Grape varietal: 100% Dolcetto Alcohol contents: 12,5-13,5% vol. Acidity: 5,5-6 gr/l. Serving temperature: C. It has an intense ruby red colour, with a hint of deep violet and has a fruity bouquet. It feels round and balanced in the mouth and is stable and harmonious. After 8 months in vats and 3 months in the bottle, it is released for sale. This wine is suitable for brief ageing in the bottle, acquiring its best characteristics a year after production. Vigiu Vino Rosso The name and the wine trace their origins back to ancient Piedmont tradition. Vigiu means Luigi, the name of the founder of the Luigi Drocco estate who, combining tradition and experience, gave life to a wine obtained from the vinification of Nebbiolo and Barbera grapes. The wine is refined in small wooden casks, successively matured in the bottle and the result is a wine with an intense ruby red colour with reflections tending towards a brick red hue. On the palate, it has a good persistent structure. Harmonious and with the right acidity, it is smooth and velvety with sensations of red berries alternating with spices, vanilla and eglantine. Alcohol content: 13,5-14% vol. Acidity: 6 gm/l. Tasting: C. In order to appreciate the wine with all its characteristics, it is recommended that the bottle be opened some hours beforehand. 8 9

7 Villa Felice Dolcetto D alba Superiore The Villa Felice grapes grow on impervious lands of the Alba hills where the warm and delicate rays of the sun allow production of a robust and balanced wine. Only in suitable vintage years with certain microclimatic trends in the vineyard, do Roberto and Fabrizio Drocco decide to produce the wine, in which case they pre - select the bunches in the vineyard and harvest only the best ones. Vinification starts with a long fermentation followed by maceration lasting about 15 and 20 days at controlled temperature. Subsequently it is aged for ten months on the lees with weekly batonnage (mixing). Afterwards, the wine is stabilized, filtered and bottled during the month of August. The wine can be marketed from June of the following year. Organoleptic qualities: Intense red burgundy color with purple tones. Nose well expressed by fruit. A full strong taste with a long finish, generous with soft fullness. Alcohol content: 15% vol. Acidity: 5,5%. This wine is excellent with pasta dishes, risotto, stews, noble fowl and ossobuco (braised veal shanks). Best enjoyed in a rather large glass with a narrower middle, half filled, so that the wine can free its aromas. Best served at ambient temperature C. Will keep: 5/6 years. Diano D alba Söri Piani e Söri Pittatori Among the lands of Dolcetto rises a hill higher than the others, a long promontory, which overlooks Alba and the Langhe. It is the hill of the Dolcetto of Diano and only the area of the township of Diano, subdivided into its Söri, can have this denomination of origin. From this lands, white marlstone tuffaceous soil together with its particular microclimatic conditions, the Azienda Agricola Drocco Luigi selects the grapes from these Söri. Vinification of red grape is traditional but utilizes the best cellar techniques, allowing this splendid wine to improve with time. The wine is very structured and substantial with scents tending towards blackberry and raspberry. Robust to the palate, it leaves a nice velvety taste and almond aftertaste.the good position of the vineyards permits a yield much lower than the standard which has an effect on the quality of the grapes and therefore on the final result of the vinification. Alcohol content: 13-14% vol. Acidity: 5,5%. The wine is ideal for serving throughout a meal, although it goes particularly well with entrees from great national and international cuisines, especially roast meats, and stews. Best served at ambient temperature C. Will keep: 4/5 years

8 Alba Alba is a debated wine already wanted in 1990, that was finally approved by the Ministry of Agriculture for 2010 harvest. The result is the ALBA wine of Drocco s winery, a wine-making producer in the area of Alba. We are the pioneers of this wine in our area where only few people vinified it. With the Vigiu wine we partially experimented the mixture, that subsequently and fortunately got its own identity. The label is dedicated to Giorgia, born in 2008, and Enrico, born in 2010, Luigi s grandchildren: his heirs but also the future and dawn of the winery. We promised ourselves to try to finalize this wine with the right percentages of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto grapes, that compose it and since it is a typical blend of Alba, so to leave them a renowned wine. Production cares: this wine results from blending Alba nebbiolo, barbera and dolcetto grape varieties. The wine procedure guideline determines the minimum percentage of 85%, 10% and 5% with 6-months ageing in wood barrels. However, we will vary these percentages and ageing so to create our own winery recipe. Grape cluster thinning of these three varieties is applied to improve the wine concentration. The procedure of fermentation lasts for 40 days during which we frequently plunge the cap during the day, we weekly stir the lees for 6 months to rest it in wood barrels from 6 to 10 months. Finally, it follows 8 months of bottle-ageing. Noise: Fruttato, armonico con note di rosa e frutta matura,finale speziato. Palate: warm, pleasantly sharp, velvety with an almondy aftertaste, reminiscent of ripe cherry. Appearance and longevity: it has a red colour and 3 years of bottle ageing offer an age worthy wine of great quality, its longevity is between 8/10 months Gastronomy matching: it combines with long-cured cold cuts, Italian pancetta, very spicy braised red meats, game and ripe cheese Growing location: south, south-east of Alba, south of Diano d Alba. Alcoholic strength: 14% 14,5% Bottle: high shouldered European Bordeaux bottle shape 75cl Packing: boxes of 6 bottles each Serving temperature: C Barolo e Garantita Barolo is the most noble wine in Piedmont that received worldwide rewards. The production of Barolo in Drocco s winery is limited to 1500 bottles. Barolo Riserva grows in Monforte s hills, in the Bussia area, facing south. A very inaccessible place with sandy and clayish soils. Very white grounds where the nebbiolo michet grapevine grows very well and produces this austere wine. Production cares: there is an extremely care of the grapevine and a selection of the grapes with cluster thinning for a production of 6000 kilos/hectare, followed by a hand-picking harvest in grape boxes. The long fermentation period in wood vats, where the cap is frequently plunged is immediately followed by 50 months of ageing in large Slavonia oak barrels. Finally, the wine is bottled for a further period of 6 months-maturation in bottle. Nose: pronounced, noble with wooded spicy overtones Palate: austere, warm, velvety, exalted by a remarkably fullness Appearance and longevity: it has a rich red colour which heightens along with ageing, it is wellstructured and persistent Gastronomic matching: ideal with red meats, game meat, but also for an important anniversary Growing location: south-west of Monforte Grapevine: Nebbiolo 100% Alcoholic strength: 14% 15% Bottle: Jumbo Bordeaux bottle shape 75cl Packing: boxes of 6 bottles each Serving temperature: C 13

9 Moscato D Asti e Garantita Moscato is certainly one of the most renowned wines in the world. Its nose and palate characteristics along with its bouquet offer a sweet wine that does not follow any trends. In Drocco s winery, muscat grapes are cultivated by our family Friend, Giacun der parasòt, who is a dedicated and skillful person in the cultivation of the grapevines. Our choice was linked to our friendship, but also to the authenticity and preciousness of the raw material, since very old muscat grapevines, already cultivated by his grandfather, grow in his soils. According to us, first of all wine originates in the vineyard. In the cellar it finally becomes a reality, the result of many attentions and cares Production cares: after an early inspection and analysis in the vineyard, grape cluster thinning begins for a production of 7500 kilos/hectare. During the harvest period we weekly pick samples of grape clusters so to analyze their grade of maturation and when perfectly ripe it begins hand-picking harvest in boxes. The grapes are immediately sent off for soft pressing. Must is preserved at 0 C till the end of the harvest. At the beginning or mid November, more or less, the must undergoes three processes of fermentation at 1,5% alcoholic degrees each at controlled temperature, C, in order to concentrate as many aromas as possible. Finally, the wine is bottled for a one-month maturation in bottle before its drinking during Christmas feasts. Noise: a delicate and intense bouquet of musk with memoirs of sage and whitethorn and sweet overtones reminiscent of wisteria and linden flowers, summer fruit as peaches and apricots, imbued with lemon and orange blossoms fragrances. Palate: a unique bouquet from the original grapevine, due to a balanced sharp hint that harmonized with the sweet fragrance Appearance and longevity: with every kind of cakes, cream and dry pastries. In its area of production it is the classic match for bread and salami, for figs or melons, very enjoyable with the ingredients of a country-style meal at dusk. Growing location: south-east of Alba, south of Treiso Alcoholic strength: 5% 5,5% Bottle: Jumbo Bordeaux bottle shape 75cl - Packing: boxes of 12 bottles each Serving temperature: 7-11 C Gioco Grape Juice Zero alcohol all taste and health Grape juice 100%, no water and added sugars, obtained by pressing of grapes grown on the farm Luigi Drocco (The presence of deposit is not a sign of alteration). The grapes and the products derived from it, such as wines and juices are rich in natural antioxidants, conducive to health. Guidelines for drinking: the juice can be consumed as is, preferably fresh, or for the base of cocktails. 15

10 Pontepietra Brut Vino Spumante Brut It is a blending of Chardonnay and Favorita varietal originated in the zone of the Langhe. Fizzy white wine with a bitterish aftertaste. Excellent as apéritif, it can be a good match for pastry. Alcohol contents: 12% vol. Acidity: 5,5-6 gr/l. Serving temperature: 8 C. This wine, which undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle, is the last creation of the Pontepietra winery. Release for sale is soon after vinification

11 Our Wines The wines of Luigi Drocco are appreciated by the market because of their quality, variety and capacity to adapt to the development of consumers tastes. The Drocco familiy cellar is always open to receive wine experts, lovers and tourists. We offer tasting of our wines in an inviting reception area in a tradition-rich atmosphere. Among our product line, the following particularly stand out: the Nebbiolo d Alba and the Barbera d Alba Superior, which are aged in wood for 16 and 13 months respectively; also the Langhe Rosso (to be called Alba DOC in the future), which is a blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo named Vigiù ; and finally the Dolcetto d Alba Pontepietra, a select wine painstakingly cared for from its cultivation in the vineyard to bottle ageing. This is certainly the feather in our cap. Let us not forget our white wines, especially particularly the vinification and care we take of our Chardonnay, the softness we use on the Arneis, the experience applied to our limited production of Favorita, and, finally, we lose ourselves in the heady scents of Moscato.
