1 Welcome to Porterhouse The North East of Scotland is home to some of the best farmland, and produces livestock famed for its quality and flavour. We are proud of our farming heritage and our meat s quality is endorsed by the Scottish Beef Club and Quality Meat Scotland. To allow everyone to experience this flavour and quality, we opened our restaurant, tucked away here at Thainstone, and named it Porterhouse after the cut of steak famous the world over for its flavour and special qualities. Cooking and serving the best meat is our passion, whatever your preferred cut may be. Choose a juicy fillet, a succulent sirloin, a rib eye or perhaps a Chateaubriand to share between two. We can trace every forkful of prime beef back to the field and maybe even introduce you to a farmer or two. Of course, after all the care and attention put into rearing the best, be assured that our chefs treat our locallysourced day aged Scotch Beef with the respect it deserves and will cook it just the way you like it. For diners who don t want to choose a steak, or have some special dietary issues or preferences, we have a wonderful larder stocked with fresh produce and locally-sourced seasonal alternatives. 2 What is a Porterhouse Steak The Porterhouse is the King of the T-Bones. Cut from the short loin area, a centre T-Shaped Bone divides two sides of the steak on one side is a tenderloin fillet and the other is a top loin, sometimes known as the New York Strip Steak. Weights quoted are minimum precooked. 10 The Porterhouse Gin Select The quintessential British gin and tonic has seen a huge resurgence in popularity, with small distilleries popping up all over the country. We have selected a few of our favourites, all produced here in Scotland, for you to try. Which one will be your favourite? Porter s Gin A sharp, refreshing citrus blast hits you as you take your first sip, but a short, drying finish leaves you wanting more. It s fantastic news that Aberdeen has produced a gin with the quality to compete with some of the finest names around. Ben Irvani, one of the creators behind the gin recommends a classic G & T, served with a quality tonic and slice of lime Daffy s Gin Named after the Goddess of Gin (yes there is one), Daffy s Gin hails from Edinburgh. It is certainly a classic gin with a modern twist, combining classic gin botanicals such as juniper and coriander with strains of lemon, created using French grain spirit. This is a clean, crisp and hugely enjoyable gin. Served with mint leaf and lime garnish Caorunn Gin A London dry style gin, containing 11 hand foraged Scottish botanicals found growing in the distillery s estate in the Highlands. A premium gin served with red apple and lime. Caorunn gets its name from the Gaelic for Rowanberry, which is one of its key botanicals, providing a sweet and sharp refreshing taste Crossbill Gin Created by Inverurie s own Jonathan Engels and colleague, Walter Mickelthwait in Aviemore. This premium, small batch gin is a fantastic drink, using only Scottish juniper and rosehip, A wonderfully simple gin that gives so much depth. We recommend no garnish, just let the gin speak for itself Kirsty s Gin Arbikie Highland Estate is the first farm-to-bottle distillery in Scotland. Named after master distiller, Kirsty Black, this is a traditional juniper based gin, but it is made from spirit distilled from home-farmed Arbikie potatoes. Launched as a super-premium gin it is smooth, creamy and clean. Garnish with lemon Gin Bothy Rhubarb Handmade in small batches in the award-winning Bothy, nestled in the Angus glens of Scotland, Gin Bothy Rhubarb is infused with fresh rhubard handpicked from the Bothy garden to create a rich, fruit flavoured liquer. Try it neat or with ginger ale, lemonade or prosecco. 4.00

11 Gin Bothy Gunshot This Scottish gin takes its name from the colour of bullets, and is infused with cinnamon, cloves and mixed spices. Best served on the rocks or with ginger ale to bring out the citrus notes Blackwoods Gin Produced only in small batches, Blackwoods Dry Gin is infused with handpicked botanicals from Shetland, including juniper, coriander and lime. Each harvest offers a slightly different range of botanicals, which give Blackwoods its unique and complex flavour Edinburgh Gin Raspberry Liquer Edinburgh Gin s classic London Dry style gin is infused with raspberries from a family-owned farm in Alyth, Blairgowrie to create a delicously fruity raspberry liquer with the area s most flavoursome soft fruit Jindea Gin Jindea is a blend of ten botanicals, including single estate Darjeeling tea which has been hand-harvested from the Goomtee Tea Estate in the stunning Kurseong Valley in West Bengal, India. The spring harvest produces a tea with aromas of apricots with a vibrant palate of white grape and spring flowers Rock Rose Gin Rock Rose is created from a range of carefully selected local and traditional botanicals, each of which is chosen for its unique flavour properties. The gin gets its name from the botanical Rhodiola rosea, literally a rose that grows in the rocks and in colder climes. Rhodiola rosea adds a delicate floral note to the gin alongside rowan berries, sea buckthorn and juniper berries Strathearn Citrus Gin Strathearn is a hand-crafted, small batch spirit with elements of zest, herbs and spices. The gin combines a hint of Italian lemons and Spanish grapefruit with a suggestion of kaffir lime leaves and star anise to add more flavour and colour Gordon s Tanqueray Bombay Sapphire All 3.60 All served in quantities of 25 ml single measure or 50ml double
