5 History En 1692, le roi Louis XIV accorde au «Sieur Damame» le privilège de la vente en France «de Caffé, Thé, Sorbec & Chocolat». This is the beginning of a long history that led Dammann Frères company to establish trading posts around the world to buy teas from the finest gardens. In the 1950 s Robert & Pierre Dammann entrust the company Jean Jumeau-Lafond which, under his leadership, now dedicated solely on the tea trade. He created the first modern scented teas in the 1950 s, among which the famous and always popular Goût Russe Douchka blend. Now Didier Jumeau-Lafond is surrounded by Emmanuel and Flora, the third generation, who present themselves as the guarantors of this prestigious heritage, and preparing for the future of this great tea house. Creativity Since the early works of Jean-Jumeau Lafond, Dammann Frères list over 3300 blends and original recipes. Inventor in the 1980 s of the Cristal teabag, the brand now offers a rich assortment of over 60 teas and blends packaged in cases, boxes and chests for a household or business. Our quality requirement extends into the choice of packaging treatment. If the iconic black cube has become the signature of an original product appreciated by all, Dammann Frères also creates collections of boxes, chests and cases, combining traditional and original materials and shapes, combining teas, herbal teas, fruit infusion and rooibos, thus achieving prestigious gift ideas. Our experts travel the globe, curious about everything, our flavourist ingeneer develops blends delicately scented and gorgeous gaits, our «blender» assembles and perfects season after season the art of mixing teas to ensure harmony of tastes and always flavors identical. Now located in the west of Paris, in Dreux, 160 people involve in multiple areas of the company. Each week, hundreds of items are tasted, tested, a job that guarantees impeccable quality. The teas are then sorted, graded, mixed, assembled, fragranted, carefully wrapped and packaged for distribution to more than 60 countries throughout the world.
