At Community Coffee, the four generations of family values that drive us to make the best coffee possible are the same values that inspire us to be the best coffee company possible. We've been family owned and operated since 1919, and we use that expertise in everything we do, which is why we want to celebrate the people and organizations in the communities we serve. We see each day as an opportunity to do better and be better - as individuals and as a company. Because together, we can make a difference.

COMMUNITY MEANS THE WORLD TO US. Community Coffee is more than a great cup of coffee. We re dedicated to making our communities better places to live, work and grow up. In this report, you ll read the stories of the people and places we have supported: students at local schools who love reading, young teachers who are making a difference, first responders helping their neighbors after natural disasters, active-duty military and veterans who ve made huge sacrifices in the name of service, and farmers around the world.

Our Purpose We create exceptional coffee experiences by passionately sourcing, roasting and delivering the best-tasting coffee. Our Values When Cap Saurage founded Community Coffee, he didn t establish a set of company values. He simply conducted his business in the same way he conducted the rest of his life with passion, integrity, pride, respect and generosity. These values have been cherished by the Saurage family for generations, and they will continue to be the driving force behind everything we do. OUR PEOPLE We are a high performance company with an emphasis on teamwork and employee care. OUR INTEGRITY We have the courage to always do what is right. OUR CUSTOMERS We have a personal commitment to provide exceptional products, services and solutions. OUR SAFETY We champion safe behaviors for ourselves, our fellow employees and our community. OUR BRAND Everything we do has to be as good as our coffee. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

Our Story We don t just want to make better coffee. We want to be a better coffee company. We want to repay the generosity, hard work, creativity and hospitality of the people who ve become part of our family. They have graciously welcomed us into their communities and allowed us to become their neighbors, coworkers and friends. The Saurage family opened a general store in their hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From the start, Norman Cap Saurage developed a reputation for being passionate about the quality of his goods, but he was even more passionate about the quality of his coffee. Cap soon discovered his secret recipe was good enough to sell He named his retail coffee brand Community in honor of his friends and customers and delivered it by horse drawn cart in brown paper bags with the name stenciled on the side. It was a local hit. Over the next two decades, demand for Community coffee grew beyond Baton Rouge. The Saurage family opened their own proprietary roasting operation in Now, four generations later, Community coffee has grown from a Baton Rouge favorite into the largest family-owned retail coffee brand in the United States. Our friends, family, customers and partners have brought us this far, and we re excited to see where they will take us next. TODAY 4

Our Reach REGIONALLY Baton Rouge was the town that created us and, almost a century later, we re still here. Since 1919, the home office of Community Coffee has been in this area, and our plant is located across the river from Baton Rouge in Port Allen, Louisiana. Community Coffee is committed to supporting local communities, and we dedicate approximately 2.5 % of our pre-tax income to charitable, socially - responsible programs. Since we hold the Gulf Coast close to our hearts, we give to regional environmental efforts like America s WETLAND Foundation, and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana through our Amber Sunrise Blend. When natural disasters occur, we support disaster relief by providing free coffee to shelters, first responders and those affected. Our local outreach extends to education as well. The Community Cash for Schools program allows students to earn funds for their schools by collecting proof of purchase labels from any Community product. Our employees share their career experience by mentoring local students through Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge and Acadiana. Community also provides opportunities to new teachers and students in academically-challenged regions in the form of grants to Teach for America. NATIONALLY As our presence has expanded outside of Louisiana, so has our giving. Community Coffee created the Military Match program to support troops by doubling online orders sent to active-duty military. Our military support extends to the USO of North Carolina and its programs. We also provide free coffee to over 350,000 military members and their families who pass through the 10 USO centers each year. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

GLOBALLY The rich, smooth taste of our coffee has its origins in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia to name a few, where we conduct a variety of support programs. Our recent partnership with Southwest Airlines expanded our global support in Mexico, where we partnered to create satellite schools for children of coffee growers and provide opportunities for the growers to expand their skills and training. As part of our commitment to global responsibility, we're a gold sponsor of World Coffee Research, a non-profit organization ensuring high-quality coffee and global environmental health for future generations. 6

COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

EDUCATION We believe quality education is the foundation of a healthy and vibrant community, which is why support for schools and all of the people who make them great has always been a top priority in our outreach efforts. Our Community Cash for Schools program helps students and parents earn funds for their school by collecting proof-of-purchase labels from Community products. Through Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge and Acadiana, our employees share their career and life experiences by mentoring students. We also support Teach For America, whose goal is to transform schools and students by attracting high-achieving college graduates to low-income communities. Annually, the Dream Teachers H. Norman Saurage III Service Award honors teachers and education professionals and awards the final winner with a grant. 8

Community Cash For Schools WHAT DOES A WATER SLIDE HAVE TO DO WITH A LOVE OF READING? Quite a lot for students at Mermentau Elementary School, who turn their dedication for books into a water-filled play day each year. Students at the Acadia Parish school read books throughout the year and track their progress with Accelerated Reader, an educational software that awards points based on the difficulty level of each book. The points then translate into play time on a water slide set up on campus towards the end of every school year. The more points earned, the more fun to be had. The water slide day is part of a range of incentives and prizes the school offers students for excelling in Accelerated Reader. Those prizes are funded in part through the Community Cash for Schools program. Mermentau Elementary is among the top fundraisers in Louisiana, earning $ 3,000 this year through the program. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

The student reward initiative is one of many annual success stories made possible through the Community Cash for Schools program, which supports schools by giving 10 cents for each and every proof of purchase turned in to teachers. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, St. George Catholic School uses this fundraiser to help equip its first-ever pre-kindergarten facility with technologies such as smartboards and tablets designed to help young learners prepare for the next stage of education. Catholic Elementary School of Pointe Coupee, also a top fundraiser, is leveraging the program to meet its ambitious goal of providing access to a personal computer for all of its students. IT S AN EASY WAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR YOUR SCHOOL BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE DRINK COMMUNITY COFFEE. KELLY VAUGHAN ST. GEORGE HOME AND SCHOOL PRESIDENT 10

Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge and Acadiana Community Coffee is a proud supporter of Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge & Acadiana, a nonprofit that seeks to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy. We worked THE COMMUNITY COFFEE TEAM MEMBERS WORKED WELL WITH OUR STUDENTS. OUR CLASSES LOOKED FORWARD TO SEEING THEM EACH WEEK. JILL EDWARDS, PORT ALLEN HIGH SCHOOL BCA/ENTREPRENEURSHIP TEACHER closely with the group during its GET HIRED, STAY HIRED PROGRAM, a seven-week program for work readiness designed to introduce students to career possibilities in business and industry. The Get Hired, Stay Hired program began in the classroom, where employees of Community Coffee spent time working with students in the business and entrepreneurship class at Port Allen High School. This new initiative culminated in a job-shadowing day that allowed the students to tour our Port Allen manufacturing facility and learn more about careers in the coffee industry. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

Teach For America The long-running Teach for America program recruits college graduates to serve as teachers. TFA s corps members commit to teaching for at least two years in a public or public charter k-12 school in one of many low-income communities. Community Coffee has been a strong supporter of TFA s mission for nearly two decades, backing the program through annual grants and welcoming new corps members each year. TFA s South Louisiana chapter has made thousands of stories possible over the past 26 years. Community Coffee s most recent multi-year grant to the group supports TFA s mission in greater Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Mississippi and Arkansas. COMMUNITY COFFEE S COMMITMENT... HAS MEANT THAT THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO MAKE AN IMPACT IN EDUCATION. LAURA VINSANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF TFA SOUTH LOUISIANA H. Norman Saurage III Service Award 2016 was the inaugural year for the Service Award, which is named in honor of our past chairman and third-generation owner of Community Coffee, H. NORMAN SAURAGE III, a longtime supporter of education. Dream Teachers, an organization dedicated to recognizing educational excellence in Louisiana, recognized Janet Lathrop for outstanding service this year with its first H. Norman Saurage III Service Award. Lathrop, a librarian at West Feliciana Middle School in St. Francisville, received the award for supporting and promoting reading through her school s library with a host of engaging and innovative student programs. 12

MILITARY A N D VETERANS At Community Coffee, we believe it s our responsibility to honor the men and women who serve our nation. That s why we have a long history of supporting military personnel through our Military Match program and other initiatives like our involvement with the USO of North Carolina that benefit the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country. 14

Military Match Of the approximately 2.2 million men and women who serve in the United States military, nearly 400,000 are stationed abroad, far from their homes and their families. We think that s a good reason to send a care package their way. When customers order four bags or four boxes of Community coffee from our Military Match program, we automatically double the order to any overseas (APO or FPO) or stateside military base address. Some orders even include personal, handwritten notes from Community Coffee team members expressing thanks and appreciation for all that they do. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

USO of North Carolina The USO of North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that strengthens America s service members by connecting them to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation. For the past three years, the USO of North Carolina and Community Coffee have partnered to provide coffee for each of the USO of NC s 10 locations and also to fund critical programs and services that help create resilient military families. This past September, Community Coffee was the presenting sponsor of the USO of NC s annual Salute to Freedom gala, which honors outstanding service members from each branch of the military. 16

COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

S USTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY At Community Coffee, taking care of people is a cornerstone of our philosophy. And it s our belief that no matter what we do, we can do more. Our historical social responsibility programs in Colombia, and recent partnerships in Mexico, have supported the communities where our high-quality Arabica coffee has been grown. Contributions to World Coffee Research help fund the next generation of sustainable farming techniques, while our Amber Sunrise TM blend helped fund coastal restoration projects. We believe that change should start at home, so we re implementing new sustainability practices in all of our facilities. 18

World Coffee Research Coffee is a complex global crop produced by a vast network of mostly small farmers and one facing increased peril from changing climate patterns and other factors. That is why the global coffee industry came together in 2012 to form World Coffee Research, a nonprofit organization working to ensure the future of coffee. The organization operates in 27 countries to further its mission to grow, protect and enhance supplies of quality coffee while improving the livelihoods of the families who produce it. Community Coffee has been a strong supporter of World Coffee Research since its inception. Matt Saurage, Community Coffee s fourth-generation owner, is a founding board member of the group. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IS AN INVESTMENT TO GENERATE THE TECHNOLOGIES THAT CAN PROVIDE VIABLE, SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTICES OVER TIME. MATT SAURAGE FOURTH GENERATION OWNER, COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

Colombia Community Coffee has had a long partnership with the Colombian communities of Toledo and Labateca, where coffee beans for the company are grown. Coffee growers in the region recently constructed dozens of efficient solar coffee dryers thanks in part to a grant from Community Coffee. The low-cost systems are expected to help increase the quality of the coffee beans and eventually will attract higher prices from buyers providing a boost to an area with a long tradition of cultivating high-quality coffee. The new infrastructure affects more than 70 farms producing the coveted specialty coffee. Community Coffee has enjoyed a continuous relationship with these farmers, purchasing coffee from the region annually. In support of this, we have contributed $20,000 of $33,000 toward the total project cost to fund the solar dryers. 20

YOUNG COFFEE GROWERS Sowers of the Future We have also supported a program in the region called Young Coffee Growers, Sowers of the Future, which supplies 100 young people between the ages of 12 and 18 with job training as coffee growers to complement their formal education. The project provided communities with 1,000 coffee plants on 18 new hectares of family farmland. The students were given seedlings and training on how to grow, fertilize, dry and care for a quality coffee bean harvest. The program is intended to help families pass on coffee-growing traditions to their children and provide the young growers with support they need to earn a living. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

Mexico Farmers work hard to grow and harvest the best coffee beans for Community. In return, we provide educational resources to serve isolated coffee farming communities in the villages of Buenavista and Tierra y Libertad in Chiapas, Mexico. In partnership with Southwest Airlines, we provide satellite learning to instruct students and a learning center for agricultural, safety, and health and wellness skills. 22

Land Preservation Community Coffee calls the Gulf Coast home, and we are committed to protecting the environment. That s why when we launched our new Amber Sunrise Blend, we announced that for every specially-marked dollar coupon redeemed on this rich, vibrant lighter roast blend, we would donate one dollar to land preservation efforts in Louisiana. Through the program, we had almost 10,000 coupons redeemed, and we were thrilled to award a total of $ 10,000 to the COALITION TO RESTORE COASTAL LOUISIANA and also to the AMERICA S WETLAND FOUNDATION. Each received $5,000 for their land preservation efforts. COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

Under Our Roof As a company, we believe that a healthy respect for the environment begins at home. That s why we are implementing a number of initiatives aimed at reducing waste and conserving energy in our offices, plants and facilities. In 2016, we began a freight consolidation program that adjusted smaller deliveries onto one truck to reduce not only freight costs but also CO 2 emissions. This has reduced CO 2 emissions by 23,618 metric tons. As we expand the project later to other regions, we have the potential to reduce emissions by 93,000 metric tons. 24

DISASTER RELIEF Thanks to our network of resources, we are uniquely positioned to provide a rapid response to natural disasters. We work with the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army by providing free coffee to shelters for evacuees and first responders and have provided funds to affected areas. 26

American Red Cross Community Coffee has maintained a longstanding partnership with the American Red Cross, particularly when disasters strike, by providing free cups of coffee to community members in need and to the volunteers and professionals who lend them a helping hand. Our support for the American Red Cross and other emergency-response organizations across the south and eastern United States spans well over a decade. The company donated 1.6 million cups of coffee after Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav, and after the tornadoes struck Moore, Oklahoma in During the 2016 flooding in southeast Louisiana, Community Coffee provided more than 300,000 free cups of coffee to evacuees and first responders. AFTER YOU VE BEEN IMPACTED BY A DISASTER AND YOU VE LOST EVERYTHING, YOU SOMETIMES LOOK FOR SOME NORMALCY. THAT LOCAL BRAND BEING IN OUR SHELTERS IS SOMETHING THAT BRINGS NORMALCY... JOSHUA JOACHIM, REGIONAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR THE AMERICAN RED CROSS OF LOUISIANA COMMUNITY COFFEE COMPANY

The Salvation Army In August 2016, shortly after the devastating and historic flooding that hit the Baton Rouge region, Salvation Army Major Brett Meredith and others handed out boxes of food to a long line of cars at a mall. With thousands of homes and businesses still underwater, it quickly became apparent just how critical the assistance was for flood victims that day. WE HAVE A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMUNITY COFFEE. WE BELIEVE IN THEIR COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY... THE SALVATION ARMY MAJOR BRETT MEREDITH GREATER BATON ROUGE CORPS COMMAND OFFICER I can t tell you the number of people who would jump up out of their car and just put their arms around me and start crying, says Meredith. They were so grateful we were able to be there and provide what was needed. The boxes of food ended up being a small but vital part of the Salvation Army s massive disasterrelief operation for flood victims in the region, an effort that continued into The charity has served 200,000 meals, distributed 23,000 boxes of food, handed out 28,000 cleanup kits and distributed 177,000 items of clothing in the area. The Salvation Army s relief efforts have played a critical role in helping residents recover from a terrible natural disaster that affected large areas of Louisiana. Community Coffee was proud to support these efforts with a $ 100,000 donation to the Salvation Army. 28

We ve told you the stories of the incredibly talented and driven individuals who have received the benefits of our programs and created a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.
