3 The highly anticipated completion of the Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA) will soon be realised. While no exact dates have been released, the highway is expected to open sometime in early The LKSA links both the Federal and Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) and is expected to raise property values in surrounding developments like Kemuning Utama in addition to providing a faster route to the city centre. Security Upgrade at Bayu, Palma and Permai Residents at these precincts will have noticed that the boom barriers at the entry and exit lanes have been replaced with new ones and that an additional CCTV camera has been installed at all entry lanes. The camera feeds will now be displayed on a larger screen for easier identification and monitoring by on-duty security personnel. These enhanced security features are supplemented by the recently upgraded 24-hour Digital Video Recording (DVR) module. 4 The BIG PICTURE on Chocolate Chocolatiers often blend different beans or add flavours to balance out the taste of their chocolates. Salt and vanilla are common flavour enhancers used in chocolate-making. The ancient Aztec cocoa drink incorporates chilli peppers and today, a tastier variation of this drink is enjoyed by epicures everywhere. CHILLI HOT CHOCOLATE Serves 2 ½ cup milk ¼ cup heavy cream ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper 5oz (142g) quality milk chocolate, chopped Combine milk, cream, and cayenne in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook till it simmers, about 4 mins. Add the chopped chocolate and stir until fully incorporated. Serve hot. 5 Food Of The Gods Cacao [ka KOW] n., pl. os. A tropical tree (Theobroma cacao) native to South America. The fruit pods contain a sweet pulp and rows of seeds which become cocoa beans after weeks of fermenting in the pod and drying in the sun. Carolus Linnaeus first gave the plant its botanical name in the mid-1700s; theobroma meaning food of the gods and cacao which is thought to have been derived from cacahuatl, the Aztec word for bitter water. Cocoa comes from three main species of cacao trees: Forastero, Criollo and Trinitario. 90% of all beans come from the Forastero cacao. The Criollo and Trinatario varieties produce beans that are highly valued for their unique flavour profiles. Different regions yield different flavour profiles even when the beans come from the same species of cacao. Beans from São Tomé have bold chocolate notes with coffee undertones. Venezuelan beans have complex fruity notes. The Dominican Republic produces beans that are rich and earthy; reminiscent of tobacco or spices. While wine is said to contain over 500 flavour compounds that give different wine varieties their distinct flavour and bouquet, chocolate boasts an impressive 1,500 or more.
