1 MEDIA RELEASE 7 June 2011 IMMEDIATE SAGE IN BRADDON, ACT TAKES TOP ACCOLADE Sage restaurant in Braddon, ACT has been named the region s top place to dine in the 2011 Savour Australia TM Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence for the Australian Capital Territory. The restaurant also won the European Restaurant category. More than 60 restaurants and caterers whose businesses are located in the Nation s capital were recognised at the ceremony last night (June 6) at Hotel Realm, Barton to acknowledge excellence in food and service. Joining Sage in the winners circle was Ten & A Half Catering in Parkes who was named the region s Caterer of the Year. Both Sage and Ten & A Half Catering will now compete with venues from across Australia in the National finals in Sydney on October 24 this year. Restaurant & Catering CEO John Hart commented that the Awards for Excellence represent an important moment as the industry pauses to honour these outstanding venues who were reviewed on the whole dining experience rather than a single dimension. The ACT is home to some of the country s tourism and dining treasures. The restaurants and caterers reflect the rich use of regional produce making the ACT unique in comparison to other regions. The Awards for Excellence were judged by a team of trained judges who anonymously visited the venues to determine the winners. Restaurant & Catering represents 2,200 restaurants and caterers in NSW. Each year over 900 members are reviewed in the Awards for Excellence.
