There was a good turn out, the Easter bunny was even there! We had three age groups: 0-3, 4-6, and After all the eggs were found, everyone went inside to enjoy a cookie and a refreshing glass of lemonade. Pictured above left is James Bradley with the Easter bunny. In the middle is the Easter bunny with some of the children. And above right is Josephine Ramirez and the Easter bunny. 2 Savanna s River City Reader Page 2 National Nursing Home Week May 9-15 The theme this year is: Enriching Every Day Activities for Nursing Home Week 5/10 Enriching through Friendship - Movie & Popcorn night, featuring the movie, Up 5/11 Enriching through Nature - Dress Up Day - Wear camouflage 5/12 Enriching through Music - Open mic day/karaoke, New Spirit Band at 6:30 p.m. 5/13 Enriching through Service - Dress Up Day - Wear red, white, and blue to honor our service men & women 5/14 Enriching through Leisure - Dress Up Day - Wear your pajamas ** The community is invited to participate in all of this weeks activities, check out the activity calendar on page 6 for more activities to attend. Hot Dog Hurrah! On Friday, May 14 will be hosting their annual Hot Dog Hurrah lunch. The cost is $5.00 per lunch, carry out and delivery will be available. The menu will include: hot dog, hamburger or cheeseburger, baked beans, chips, cookie, and a drink. Come on out, enjoy a lunch, visit with the residents, and get some goodies at the bake sale. About National Nursing Home Week NNHW spotlights nursing home residents and staff and encourages all to celebrate those that make a positive difference in their lives every day. A supportive and caring environment, such as a nursing home, provides enrichment for residents and families to continue growing, learning and teaching through various ways. The week also provides an opportunity to honor all those who contribute to our nation s nursing homes residents, family members, employees and volunteers. ** Information taken from:

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. The menu will include: soup, sandwich, salad, and dessert. Reservations are required, don t forget to RSVP by April 29. Warmer Days=Cool Treats It s getting warmer, so please make sure your loved ones have money in their resident trust accounts. They can go for a scenic ride, get some fresh air, and stop to enjoy some ice cream.

5 Savanna's River City Reader Page 5 Announcements Honor Flight Donation Last week there was an article in the Clinton Herald about local businesses helping the Honor Flight. Mike Fullerton, owner of River City Pipe Fitters & Trailer Depot along with others are trying to raise money to purchase wheelchairs for veterans interested in going on the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Dennis Rose, resident council president, is pictured above with Mike Fullerton. donated four wheelchairs to be used on the Honor Flight. Honor Flight has at least five flights planned for Open house and retirement party Please join us for an open house and a retirement party for Linda Grissinger on Friday, May 21 from 1-3 p.m. in the dining room. Stop in for some cake & ice cream and to wish her luck. Linda s last day with us at Big Meadows is May 21. She has worked in the front office since June of Linda has greeted many visitors and residents with her nice smile and great personality. She will be missed by all. We threw a baby shower for Shawna, in housekeeping, on April 7. Shawna had twin girls on November 12, 2009, Kimberly & Brittney, they were welcomed home by twin brother & sister Taven and Shianne. Shawna has her hands full. Pictured below left to right is: Shawna holding an outfit, one of the gifts from the Resident Council; the cake; and Shawna holding Brittney (left) and Kimberly (right). The residents played a game, enjoyed some cake, and gave Shawna some advice.
