Located 120km Southeast of Cape Town (1h30 drive from Cape Town International Airport), in the Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven and Earth) Valley and part of the Walker Bay region behind the enchanting coastal town of Hermanus.

terroir Walker Bay is one of the coolest wine growing areas in the Cape. This cool maritime climate influenced by the cold Atlantic Ocean breeze (average 13 C) blows gently up the valley.

The valley is surrounded and sheltered by a mountain barrier, formed by Galpin Peak (810 meters) and the Tower of Babel (1200 meters), which traps the cloud cover and moisture brought in from the sea

3 terroir Walker Bay is one of the coolest wine growing areas in the Cape. This cool maritime climate influenced by the cold Atlantic Ocean breeze (average 13 C) blows gently up the valley. The sea breezes cool the vines thereby encouraging slow ripening and flavour-rich grapes. The valley is surrounded and sheltered by a mountain barrier, formed by Galpin Peak (810 meters) and the Tower of Babel (1200 meters), which traps the cloud cover and moisture brought in from the sea by the prevailing wind. Summer conditions are consequently warm rather than hot, and winter conditions are mild and frost-free. Malmesbury clay shale soil, a duplex structure of stony gravel and fine clay shale ensuring moisture retention, ideal for growing pinot noir. Vines are planted on gentle slopes in a north-south direction, taking advantage of the daily travel of sunlight from east to west and ensures equitable sunlight exposure.

Barrel maturation of 15 months in French oak, pure aromas of raspberry, cherry, flowers and spice, musky suggestions of truffle and forest floor A wine inspired by our winemaker and location - offering a true reflection of our terroir. Barrel matured for 10 months in French oak, rich with luscious soft tannins and dark-coloured forest fruits, deftly balanced on a cord of lingering plum and raspberry delights. An Italian / French inspired blend of Sangiovese, Pinot noir, Nebbiolo, Shiraz, Mouvèdre and Barbera. Matured for 16 months in French oak, red cherry, flowers, a whiff of truffle on the nose with a hint of spice. Tannins are velvety and offer a slow- pronounced aromatic finish! Crocodile s Lair / Kaaimansgat Chardonnay Sans Barrique Chardonnay Prepared in the classic Burgundian fashion and then matured sur lie for eight months in traditional 228 litre pieces! Packed with minerality, tight fruit flavours of pear, peaches and litchis resting on over-laying hints of oak, vanilla and autolized yeasts. Strong nutty components will evolve over time to create complexity and enhanced flavours. The rich characteristic of this wine stems from clay based soils at the vineyard location in the Elandskloof Valley of Villiersdorp. This un- oaked version of chardonnay has an emphatic fruit purity, minerality and length from tantalizingly luscious acidity. Strong hints of peach and kiwi fruit with a few drops of lemon! Sauvignon blanc Reserve This Reserve is a single bottling encouraged by a particularly fine vintage. Strikingly elegant with a flinty nose where the palate is crisp and clean with a bright lingering finish. The wine is stylised with the addition of 12% Semillon and also enjoys a very small contribution of French oak. Kaaimansgat Limited Edition Chardonnay An innovative blend of a classic barrel-fermented portion of Chardonnay (60%) with a fruity nonmalo unwooded portion (40%). The barrel fermented portion is all new French oak! The style is classic, cool climate Chardonnay with voluptuous fruit tones layered on harmonious oak flavours, all balanced in a synonymous elegance! Walker Bay Sauvignon blanc Our geographic location lying within five kilometres of the cool Atlantic Ocean offers the best temperature zone that the Cape can contribute a strong vibrant aroma, tropical fruits of pineapple, litchi and granadilla. This is followed by a firm crisp palate signalling a determined structure with parallel fruit calling one straight back to the glass! Missionvale Chardonnay Our flagship white maintaining 30% new best French Oak with a total of seven months maturation. This wine presents pages of different taste sensations. Creamy yeast, followed by mild wood tones surrounded by vanilla and aromatic layers of apricot and cantaloupe. Finally, resonating a long citrus and quince finish. Blanc de Mer This blend is both bold in colour and structure. The composition enjoys Riesling as the primary player, with Viognier secondary followed by Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. It has a deep colour with a very full palate feel. Very rich with tastes of peaches, quinces and pear which all blend to provide a strong and lengthy finish.
