4 TAKE FLIGHT MUSCADET For the month of March we celebrate our food & Wine pairing with Muscadet. The Muscadet Appellation, a story that started in Burgundywith the Melon de Bourgogne grape. Introduced in the early 18th Century in the Western Loire Valley, after the regional crops were mostly destroyed. The Domaine Luneau-Papin is a 9th generation of family wine makers of the famous Muscadet Appellation. The Domaine extends over 40 hectares of land, with 10 individual Muscadet that reflects the terroir and the passion of the Domaine DNA into producing an exceptional wine, often forgotten by many. 7 BUBBLES OF THE MONTH Gosset was founded in 1584, making it the oldest wine house in Champagne. Although it is tiny in comparison to many of the better known Champagne houses, the quality is superb. A point of pride at Gosset is that they mature their wines for four years, which is significantly longer than the 15 months that is required for nonvintage Champagne. Gosset Brut Excellence N.V. Fresh, elegant and intense with notes of honeysuckle and ripe, fleshy peaches. By including 12% of aged reserve wines, the luxurious Grande Réserve is rich with lovely biscuit and fig nuances on the finish. 8 OBSERVER FOOD MONTHLY Fine wine by the glass: Until very recently, if you wanted to try a rare or old fine wine in a restaurant, you had to shell out a few hundred quid or more for a whole bottle. But the arrival in the past few years of the Coravin, a gizmo that lets sommeliers extract a glass of wine from a bottle without opening it or spoiling the remains, has made by-the-glass ranges, particularly in London, a whole lot more interesting.
