1 National Public Safety Telecommunicator s Week April
2 Activity Guide: NPSTW Week Activities Activity Goal: As National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week approaches, many PSAPs don t have activities planned. Here are a few suggestions to get you started in your planning! Instructions for PSAP Managers or PSAP Recognition Team: Ensure all activities meet agency policy and procedure. Be sure to include guidelines on dress-down days. For contests requiring judging, get outside judges, and use a variety of judges for different activities. Some suggestions for judges include: responders, city management, or other department employees. For contests, have a strict, no phone/internet searches allowed. Purchase a roll of raffle tickets, give tickets based on participation in the week s events. At the end of the week draw winners for prizes, based on the theme or donated items. Contact local schools to see if their National Honor Society could do goodie bags (snacks) for the Telecommunicators. Contact local Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops for donations for goodie bags. Ask for donations from the Police and Fire Citizen s Alumni Association. Ask responders to donate. If your agency has a social media page, be sure to include the week s events on social media pages. Spotlight personnel on Social Media all week. These are just a few suggestions, hopefully these will spark even more ideas for National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week!
