The cases mix well-known and much-loved member favourites with exciting new discoveries which the buyers have unearthed on their travels. The Society has long, fruitful associations with some of the world s best winemakers, and, because of this, can often include exclusive small parcels of wine in Wine Without Fuss that are too limited in quantity for the main List. Claret & French Dry White: Red/White/Mixed* 149 per case Chief wine buyer Sebastian Payne MW selects the best red Bordeaux for drinking now for the Claret selection. Wines include favourite Médocs and Saint-Emilions as well as rising stars from the ever improving satellite Bordeaux appellations. Claret is best enjoyed with food, and we include recipes and advice about some delicious dishes to drink with the wines. The French Dry White selection features classic whites from Burgundy, the Loire, Bordeaux, Alsace, Rhône and the Languedoc. 4 What s included? With every delivery, you will receive detailed case notes to accompany each wine. An edited version of some of the notes sent with previous cases are shown below: Wine and Dine D Arenberg White Ochre, 2007 Cook up something winemaker Chester Osborn might serve with a flourish some large prawns, perhaps, tossed in hot oil with garlic and lemon-grass and finished with some bubbling coconut cream. Navajas Crianza, Rioja, 2005 Smooth and oaky crianza from the superb 2005 vintage. Combining ripe, sweet fruit with vanillin-scented oak from the maturation in barrels. Serve with lamb shanks, cooked until the meat falls off the bone. Primitivo di Puglia San Marzano, 2007 Effortless, lip-smacking reds continue to flow from the heel of Italy. Try this one with a spicy, thin-crust pizza, laden with chilli and tomato sauce, pepperoni sausage and roast red peppers. ECONOMY CUTS...Affordable wine is never out of fashion, but cheap cuts of meat have never been trendier. Lamb shanks and belly of pork are already gastropub darlings, less so breast of mutton, an unprepossessing sheet of gristle which two or three hours of effortless cooking turns into an unctuous treat for four for not much more than a fiver. We included two recipes, for smoked mackerel and horseradish pâté and soukh-stuffed breast of mutton, in this case for a smart stay-at-home supper to enjoy with two of the wines.
