Elizabeth Bradfield, Poetry Reading Monday, November 30, 4pm Reading from her new book, the poet-naturalist Elizabeth Bradfield explores our navigations of ecological and emotional environments. Once Removed is a moving chronicle of natural encounters, a masterful confluence of art and life. Set on the waters and shores of Cape Cod, with sojourns to Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere, her unflinching poems delve into nature and ways in which the landscapes we inhabit stay with us long after we leave them. Bradfield is the author of two other poetry collections Approaching Ice and Interpretive Work. Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker and elsewhere. Founder and editor-in-chief of Broadsided Press, she lives on Cape Cod, works as a naturalist locally as well as on arctic expedition ships, and is Poet-in- Residence at Brandeis University and on the faculty of the low-residency MFA program at University of Alaska Anchorage. HOLIDAY DOUBLE FEATURE Thursday, November 28, 3:30-4:20pm Adele s Wish, 2015, 55min At 92, Maria Altmann sued Austria to recover five Klimt paintings stolen from her family in Vienna by the Nazis in Considered national treasures, they were proudly displayed in Vienna s Belvedere Museum for over 60 years. What began as a legal dispute evolved into a political, cultural and ethical confrontation forcing Austria to re-examine its role in Nazi art thefts and its anti- Semitic past.
