1 February Sun 27 DEPART NEW YORK or other USA city on Continental Airlines for your overnight flight to Amsterdam, Holland. We begin our 2011 O BRIEN S & BREWERS SPECIAL GBBT with one very full day in Amsterdam, a beer city we love to visit and as our starting point to visit a few Dutch Breweries en-route to our Belgium Breweries, Beer Festivals, Scotland and England! (Yes! It will be possible to add one or two nights for those of you who wish more time in Amsterdam Typically in January there is a Buy one additional night/get one free deal!) Mon 28 ARRIVE, EXPLORE and TASTE AMSTERDAM Arrive Amsterdam s Schiphol airport this morning, then train to Amsterdam Centraal Station and taxi or trolley* to our hotels. You have this morning and early afternoon at leisure to explore Amsterdam. Visit the Anne Frank House, The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum or the hundredsof Amsterdam s historical sights. Shopping in Amsterdam is hip too, from The Bijenkorp (Bee Hive) department store along the Dam Straat to The Flower Market, Diamond factories and art galleries A dam has something for everyone.

2 February Mon 28 ARRIVE, EXPLORE and TASTE AMSTERDAM, Continued De PRAEL BREWERY Strange as it seems many of us have yet to visit Amsterdam s second micro-brewery The De Prael located just on the other side of the Red Light district. Stop by for Lunch and tasters. Mid-afternoon we ll trolley beyond the Centraal Station to The t IJ (Egg) Windmill Brewery for a tasting. This evening, after a brief respite in our hotels we will meet at our favorite Amsterdam pub De Wildemann for a Welcome to Amsterdam glass of Dutch or Belgian ale. After De Wildeman, we ll pod off into four to six persons groups to begin an impromptu pub crawl exploring the classic beer proflokal (beer professional) pubs of Old Amsterdam with our Great Amsterdam Beer Tour & Ultimate Pub Crawl Guide to our favorite and most interesting Amsterdam (in both ales and history) pubs. Don t miss, Arends Nest, De Berkeerde Suster, Elfde Geboud, Begique, Gollem, Van Daele, Beiaard, Ooievaar, Huis t Apje (Monkey House), Hoppe, Beer Temple!

3 March Tue 01 LA TRAPPE TRAPPIST, HET ANKER GOUDEN CAROLUS TOUR & DINNER This morning our GBBT Luxury motoroach takes us south the only Dutch Trappist Brewery La Trappe (formerly Koingshoeven) for a tour by our pal and head brewer Ludwig and an incredible afternoon lunch of Paterkaas (Abbey Cheese) and Bitterballen a delicious Dutch treat (Beef stew in a fried ball) and a tasting of the incredible La Trappe Trappist Ales including the Oak Aged Quadrupel! THE NEW HET ANKER (GOUDEN CARLOUS) BREWERY & BRASSERIE We ll tour the new brewery then enjoy a tasting and dinner in their newly completed (we hope)! Brewery Tap. After La Trappe we ll carry on to the Belgian town of Mechelen, to visit and tour the new Het Anker brewery and taste the wonderful Gouden Carolus ales. Afterwards we ll enjoy dinner at Het Anker s new brasserie featuring Mechelse koekoek, (actually a local breed of chicken whose feathers resemble those of a cuckoo bird). This entrée with the funny name is a chicken breast cooked in a rich Gouden Carolus Triple gravy, stuffed with vegetables. Or try the Salmon or beef stew, each with the triple sauce! Even the steak comes with a Carolus Triple sauce! (Dinner optional) Most persons would be content with the two brewery visits and tastings and enjoying beer cuisine at lunch and dinner and call it a night and you may certainly do so if tired. However it just so happens that our hotel is surrounded by 6 of the very top beer cafes in Mechelin! And so our 1 st Mechelen Ultimate Pub Crawl begins!

4 Wed 02 LA CHOUFFE TOUR/TASTING, BATTLE OF BULGE MUSEUM, ORVAL TOUR/TASTING This morning, yes, its morning already, begins with a full Belgian buffet breakfast then off to the Eastern part of Belgium and the famous Ardennes Forests where we ll find La Chouffe Brewery, The Battle of the Bulge museum and the Trappist Abbey Brewery Orval. TOUR AND TASTING AT LA CHOUFFE! In honor of Chris Blauweraerts visit to in NEW YORK (and because we love Houblon Chouffe) the GBBT luxury coach will make its way east to the Ardennes forest to enjoy one of our favorite Belgium breweries. BATTLE OF THE BULGE MUSEUM As we ll be in the middle of the Ardennes forest we ll take a small break from our revelry to visit this incredible and important museum to learn more of the historic World War II battle and to pay tribute to the men and women who gave their all for our freedom. VISIT AND TASTING AT ORVAL The 2011 GBBT WILL VISIT THREE (or more) TRAPPIST BREWERIES! Chris has graciously offered to have his brewer arrange a visit to Orval and to have us taste their Belgian Trappist ale on Tap! This is a very rare opportunity and we are looking forward to visiting a third Trappist brewery on the 2011 GBBT! A beer brewed with knowledge is tasted with wisdom!

5 March Wed 02 Continued ARRIVAL IN GHENT, GRAVENSTEEN CASTLE & PUB CRAWL After our visit to Orval, we ll drive across Belgium to arrive and check-in to our superbly located hotels in historic Ghent, one of the most beautiful historic cities in Europe. Ghent was the seat of the counts of Flanders whose great Gravensteen Castle is a must visit. Of even greater importance to the Beer Traveler, Ghent is a conveniently located to visit the Great Breweries of Flanders! Tonight we ll meet at The famous Waterhuis for a Welcome to Ghent beer, later to pod-off in small groups for independent dining. Hint Ghent is world famous for All-you can Eat Spare-ribs! Thu 03 EXPLORE GHENT OR THE GBBT BELGIAN BREWERY COACH OPTION Today after your full Belgian buffet breakfast you have the option of exploring Ghent and the magnificent Gravensteen Castle, Cathedrals and Museums or continuing on today s GBBT Belgian Breweries Coach where we ll visit two or three world class Belgian Breweries. Our initial shortlist of breweries for today include favorites; Malheur, Huyghe (brewers of Delirium Tremens), Bosteels, Duvel or Glazen Toren. Above GBBT enjoys an incredible welcome at De Landtsheer Brewery brewers of Malheur Belgian Ales. Manu de Landtsheer and Tom Nickel of O Brien s Pub, NEW YORK, CA. Chuck Silva Head Brewer of Green Flash Brewing NEW YORK, CA and Manu de Landtsheer owner of Malheur toast great beer. Manu insisted on wearing his GBBT T-shirt and generously hosted us to hours of tasting his brilliant Malheur ales. Just a months later, O Brien s Pub, NEW YORK, CA received the first kegs of Malheur shipped to the USA!

6 Thu 03 Continued THE GREAT GHENT CAFÉ TOUR & ULTIMATE PUB CRAWL Tonight on our return to Ghent we ll meet at the Gruut Brewpub for a pint before our independent Great Ghent Beer Café Tour - an evening at leisure to explore the City s restaurants and specialty beer cafes. At our doorstep are the world renown: Waterhuis, Dulle Griet and Bicycle Bar cafes. Annick De Splenter got the idea for her city brewery from foreign customers asking for good (Don t worry if you want to join the GBBT coach to visit the Breweries. You ll have plenty of time on the weekend to visit Brugges, Antwerp & the 24 hours of Beer Festival!) Fri 04 EXPLORE GHENT, ALVINNE CRAFT BEER FEST, VINTAGE GEUZE & LAMBIC DINNER The ALVINNE CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL (formerly Pre-Zythos) In 2011, Picobrewery Alvinne will organize their 4 th Beer Festival, one quite different from all other Belgian beer festivals. Formerly called Pré-ZBF Festival, brewery friends created the name: Alvinne Craft Beer Festival and the motto A yearly discovery of some of the world s most innovative microbreweries The Festival will be held in a larger farmhouse castle: De Kasteelhoeve in Avelgem, Belgium. Today might go something like this Enjoy breakfast, catch the train to Brussels Gare Centraal, walk just behind the station to find Cantillon famous Museum Brewery brewers of legendary Gueze & Lambic ales. Then explore Brussels Grand Place, and it s Maison de Brasseurs (Belgian Brewers Guild), the superb Contemporary art museum, Auto Museum and even a Museum of Comic Strips (invented in Belgium). Perhaps you ll have a pint and enjoy lunch in the nearby Petit Sablon an area renowned for its antique shops and great beer cafes, all serving great food and abbey cheeses. Don t miss Cantillon s Open Brewing Day! 8 March Sat 05 Continued BRUSSELS, CANTILLON & ZYTHOS 24 HOURS OF BEER FESTIVAL After visiting Cantillon, The Grand Place and other Brussels sights it s time to get on the train to St Niklaas for the first 12 hours of the famous Zythos 24 Hours of Belgian Beer Festival! With more than 60 Belgian Brewers serving more than 200 Beers it s your best way to taste the largest variety of Belgian Beers. The Festival begins at noon and continues on to midnight. However the wise Zythos 24 Hours of Beer festival attendee will take a few breaks from the festival to explore nearby Antwerp s many delights, such as Castle Steen or G-Bastin Chocolatiers. Sun 06 WESTVLETEREN, BRUGGES, De HALVE MAAN, ZYTHOS 24 HOURS BEER FESTIVAL After a leisurely breakfast the GBBT luxury motorcoach will take us south to Westvleteren s In de Vrede cafe at The Abbey of St Sixtus where you ll enjoy a no-host lunch of Grilled Ham and Abbey cheese Paninis and as many of the world s most rare and renowned Westvletern 12 s as you wish. Be sure to leave room for the incredible Ice Cream sundae! While there s no guarantee that we ll be as lucky enough to buy six packs of Westy 12 s as we have in the past, GBBT is well known at the Café and we have always been able to purchase at least a souvenier box of a Westvleteren Glass, a 5, 8 and 12 to take home. 9 March Sun 06 EXPLORE BRUGES, DE HALVE MAAN & ZYTHOS 24 HOURS OF BEER FESTIVAL After lunch we ll motor on up to Brugges The Venice of the North to tour the famous canals, 16 th century houses and De Halve Maan brewery brewer of Bruggse triple. Afterwards you might follow our friend Podge s Guide Around Bruges in 80 Beers (Available on Amazon.com) Or after power shopping your way through Bruges lace, tapestry and chocolate boutiques you might enjoy a spot of Tea at The Dukes Palace. AFTERNOON TEA at THE DUKES PALACE Kempinski Hotel Dukes' Palace introduces this delightful British tradition in a very unique way. Wooden floors, comfortable sofa's, large windows overlooking a large private garden and a relaxing atmosphere make the Lobby Lounge the perfect place to discover the pleasures of High Tea. Offering a mouth-watering selection of exquisite sandwiches, delicate pastries, muffins... and of course chocolates. 10 Mon 07 FLIGHT BRUSSELS TO EDINBURGH and THE ROSE STREET PUB CRAWL We rise for breakfast then train to Brussels National Airport for our morning flight to Edinburgh,where on arrival we ll shuttle to our hotel, settle in then enjoy a free afternoon to explore the sights and attractions of Auld Reekie starting at Edinburgh Castle high above the city, following the Royal Mile to Holyrood House. The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland of Her Majesty The Queen, stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat. This fine baroque palace is closely associated with Scotland's rich history. The Palace is perhaps best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots. Mary was married at Holyroodhouse and witnessed the brutal killing of her secretary Rizzio by her jealous second husband, Lord Darnley, in her private apartments. The Palace briefly served as the headquarters of Bonnie Prince Charlie during the 1745 uprising. Tonight we ll enjoy a casual pub dinner then attack Edinburgh s 30 pubs on The GBBT Rose Street Ultimate Pub Crawl.

11 Tue 08 BLAIR CASTLE, HARVIESTOUN BREWERY & THE MACALLAN DISTILLERY This morning our GBBT luxury motor coach takes us to Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. The castle enjoys one of Scotland s finest settings in the heart of Highland Perthshire. With its roots in the 13th century, Blair Castle s history extends over some 740 years. At the gateway to the Grampian Mountains on the route north to Inverness, the location was highly strategic. Famous as the last castle to be held under siege in 1746, Blair's magnificent white walls have welcomed Mary Queen of Scots, Bonnie Prince Charlie and Queen Victoria. The beautiful gardens and grounds include a magnificent 9 acre walled garden with landscaped ponds and follies and a peaceful wooded grove, home to the UK's 2nd tallest tree. We ll offer the option to shop for famous Scottish cashmere and woolens, do some birding or taking a Land Rover Estate Safari before we press on to the highlands and Macallan distillery. At Macallan we ll visit the distillery in small groups, explore the making and blending of The Macallan, then enjoy a wee dram and shop a bit. After our visit to Macallan, we ll head back south to visit Harviestoun Brewery makers of Ola Dubh (Engine Oil) matured in Highland Park Whisky barrels, returning to our Edinburgh hotel this evening.

12 February 27 - March 11, 2011 Wed 09 TRAQUAIR HOUSE & BREWERY, AUCHENTOSHAN DISTILLERY This morning we ll coach down to The Border Counties to Traquair House. Dating back to 1107, Traquair was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. Later a refuge for Catholic priests in times of terror, the Stuarts of Traquair supported Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobite cause without counting the cost. We ll enjoy a tour of the house and the famous Traquair House Brewery housed in the eighteenth century wing and producing the world famous Traquair House Ales. With some time for a no host lunch at the 1745 Cottage Restaurant After our visit to Traquair House, we ll motor to the west coast of Scotland to visit Auchentoshn distillery, famous for their triple distilled Whisky. The distillery dates back to 1823 and sits at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills on the outskirts of Glasgow, overlooking the famous River Clyde. We ll have a wee dram before returning to Glasgow in the early evening

13 Thu 10 FLIGHT TO LONDON, SIGHTSEEING, THE LONDON DRINKER BEER FESTIVAL Quite possibly we ll have enjoyed a whole lot of beer and whiskey by this point of the tour. Inspired by NEW YORK brewers style of Extreme Beers, The Great Belgian Beer Tours have evolved into Extreme Beer Tours! When we learned that the London Drinker Beer Festival came just after our Scotland stay we just had to offer it as an option! This morning we ll shuttle to Edinburgh airport for a short flight to London s Heathrow airport then shuttle to our central London hotels. London s historic sights! For those unfamiliar with London an optional hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus is a great way to explore; Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, The National Gallery, Downing Street, Big Ben, London Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London & Westminster and more! The London Drinker Beer Festival is the city s Top Spring Beer event and includes London Brewers; Brodies, Fuller's (including one firkin of draft Prize Old Ale, Redemption (the new Tottenham brewer) and Sambrooks. We will also have Young's London Gold and a selection of beers from breweries that were in operation when the Festival started in 1985 plus lots of rare beers and ciders. There are two sessions today: Noon to 3pm and 5pm to 10:30pm As Samuel Johnson said: When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life, for there is in London all that life can afford.'' 14 Fri 11 LONDON BREWERIES and THE LONDON DRINKER BEER FESTIVAL After a full English Breakfast to fortify ourselves we ll meet at Fullers Griffin Brewery for a tour of London s last Victorian brewery, followed by a tasting and optional lunch at the brewery tap; The Mawson Arms The Mawson Arms and Fox and Hounds is the starting point for the brewery tour. The pub sits on Mawson Lane, named after the family who laid the foundations for a major brewing enterprise. The corner house was reputedly the home of Alexander Pope, a protégé of Lord Burlington, and his family from 1716 to At one point, two pubs stood on the site, hence the reason the pub still has two names today. After our Fullers tour and no host lunch, We will visit one of London s new Micro-Breweries; Brodies, Redemption (the new Tottenham brewer) or Sambrooks The London Drinker Beer Festival is the city s Top Spring Beer event and includes London Brewers; Brodies, Fuller's (including one firkin of draft Prize Old Ale, Redemption (the new Tottenham brewer) and Sambrooks. 15 Sat 12 GREAT LONDON BEER TOUR & ULTIMATE PUB CRAWL & THE WHITE HORSE We have asked friend Chris Pollard aka Podge co-author with Siobhan McGinn of Around London in 80 Beers tol guide us on The 2011 Great London Beer Tour and Ultimate Pub Crawl, a walking/tube tour to London s top pubs featuring caskconditioned ales and of historical note. Podge is also the author of Around Brugges in 80 Beers and LambicLand, LambikLand and will be happy to autograph your books! A few of the ales we ll taste: Harvey s Sussex ales, Marston s Pedigree, Courage Directors, Shepherd Neame s Spitfire and Bishop s Finger, Meantime Porter & IPA, Young s Winter Warmer and Fuller s Old Harry along with a few surprises among London favorites. London just wouldn t be the same without a few pints and dinner at the legendary White Horse Pub! This is a grand pub with high ceilings, large stuffed chairs and long chunky tables is a welcome home to both drinker and diner. 20 Great Belgian Beer Tours Terms & Conditions Payment: A deposit of $500 per person is due with your reservation. Payment may be made by check, American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover credit cards. On receipt of payment you will be sent a statement showing your payment and confirmation of your booking. Payment in full is due by January 15, Package vouchers and flight documents will be sent to you two weeks prior to departure. Payment in full guarantees your tour price. Please read the following terms and conditions for this tour, they limit Ciao! Travel's liability as the Operator of this tour and that of our agents, carriers and suppliers who are providing your tour arrangements. In addition, they outline the conditions under which your tour will operate. Your deposit, signature on the registration form and acceptance of final tour documents represent your acceptance of the terms and conditions as follows. Tour Prices: Package prices are quoted in U.S. Dollars. Air fares and tour prices are in effect as of September 20, 2010 and are subject to change without notice due to fluctuations in air fares, ground rates, and currency rates. Cancellations: Up to 60 days prior to U.S. departure: $300 administrative fee days prior to U.S. departure: 60% of total package. 29 days and under and no-shows: 100% cancellation penalty. Travel must change any hotel, its substitute will be of equal or greater quality. European hotel rooms are often smaller than their equivalent USA rooms. Rooms' are "run of the house", unless stated otherwise on invoice and voucher, and are assigned at the sole discretion of the hotel. Ciao! Great Belgian Beer Tour Liability Waiver: As a participant on the Great Belgium Beer tour, I fully and clearly understand that I will be consuming alcohol during the tour and I accept full responsibility for my behavior, well being, and health throughout the tour, which may involve a variety of activities, unfamiliar locations, and modes of travel, including but not limited to: pedestrian travel on busy streets, rail travel, train platforms and stations, hotel stairways, cobblestone streets, public taxis, public busses, trains and trams, brewery tours, bars and pubs, and bus stairs. I further realize that brewery tours may involve beer tasting before or after the tour; and that the tour may involve walking through unfamiliar, narrow and/or steep corridors, gangways, stairways and driveways. I also realize that breweries may be operational during certain visits and that this presents additional hazards including heat and steam, reduced visibility, hot pipes and boiling kettles. I knowingly and willfully accept these risks and take complete and total responsibility for my behavior, well being and health during the tour. I agree to hold neither Ciao!
