11 DON CICCIO & FIGLI (DON CHEE - CHEE - O AND FEE-GLEE) shares the rich history of artisanal liqueur making from the Amalfi Coast to the United States through a series of time-tested recipes handed down from generation to generation. Don Ciccio s artisanal liqueurs offer a refreshing glimpse of the past with a nod to the future. We started producing liquers in 1883 in Amalfi Coast. Don Ciccio was my grandfather. He used to be a carrozziere, who owned a small body shop, a flourishing trade in those days, but his true passion was making artisanal liqueurs such as Limoncello, Aperitivos and Amaros. So with the help of Giovanni Porpora, my other grandfather, a true falegname, wood worker, they built a small distillery on the hills of Furore located in the coastal region in the south of Italy near Positano and Capri. After almost 100 years, the distillery shut down in 1980, due to a massive earthquake. The distillery and the lemon trees were completely destroyed by the catastrophic event. Don Ciccio & Figli started expanding the family tradition in 2012, in Washington DC. We currently craft our spirits using the same style and traditional techniques.
