9 HVG Today HVG: We deliver the natural product hops from Germany. Cooperative and EU recognized producers group. In the Bavarian town of Wolnzach at the heart of the Hallertau hop-growing region is where HVG Hopfenverwertungsgenossenschaft e.g. has its head office. The marketing association was founded in 1953 in the Hallertau region, and the growers from the Tettnang and Elbe-Saale regions have been members since This led to the world s largest consolidation of hop growers within a cooperative. HVG pools the activities of the Hop Growers Associations of Hallertau e.v. (PGI Hallertau Hops), Elbe-Saale e.v. (PGI Elbe-Saale Hops), Tettnang e.v. (PGI Tettnang Hops), and the HVG Spalt (PDO Spalt Hops). They hav joined forces, representing hops from German growing regions, to establish an information and sales promotion program for the European protected designations PDO and PGI. The goal is to provide information about the meaning of the Community regulations and the high value of the EU-protected Community products. HVG guarantees the international brewing industry the reliability of supply for German hops of the highest quality and diversity. The oldest marketing cooperative for hop growing has become a global player within a few decades. Today, breweries from more than 100 countries on all continents purchase German hops directly from the grower through HVG with excellent natural quality and processing methods as well as at fair conditions.

12 Traceability transparent production from cultivation to delivery Agricultural products and foodstuffs from the European Union stand for tested quality. This is ensured by the strict requirements of the European quality policy. Many products that comply with the particularly high standards for cultivation and production carry one of the three quality labels of the European Union. Hops from Germany are one such product. Quality assurance has a long tradition in Europe. Already in the 16th century, for example, German hop growers wondered how they could protect their high-quality products against false declarations of quality. The answer was the first German hop seal, which was introduced in the city of Spalt in the year Little by little, other important hop-growing regions also marked their products with a seal. Almost 500 years later, quality seals are still in high demand. Today, the European Union quality labels provide more transparency.

13 Traceability inspires trust The traceability of agricultural products and foodstuffs is at the core of European quality assurance. It is ensured by the continuous documentation of all the steps from cultivation to processing through to the delivery of goods. This transparency instills confidence in all those who buy this product for further processing or consumption. Because it is possible to retrace when, where, and by whom the goods were harvested, produced, processed, stored, transported, consumed, or disposed of at any time.

Art. 16 para. 2 EU regulations (EG) No. 1850/2006 at least the following information: a. Description of goods, b. Certification reference number, c. Final weight and/or gross weight, d. Place where the hops were grown, e. Crop year, f. Variety. In addition the date of processing must be stated.

Each packet contains reff. art. 17 EU regulations (EG) 1850/2006 at least the following information: a) Description of goods, b) Variety c) Certification reference number.
