3 Romero Britto creates a completely new expression that reflects his optimistic faith in the world around him. Eileen Guggenheim wrote it best when stating Chagalls floating lovers seem to foreshadow so many of Britto s buoyant exultant couples. Alluding to influences of early modern masters, Britto s pulsating colors, pop themes and commanding compositions have led him to become the premier contemporary Artist of his generation. Romero Britto lived an extremely modest lifestyle while growing up amongst eight brothers and sisters in Recife Brazil. However, his innate creativity allowed Britto to fill his life with vibrant color and images of a beautiful world. His canvas was any scrap of newspaper or cardboard he could find. Britto has an inordinate passion to excel and prospered academically. Still, Britto s artistic nature eventually led him to seek experience outside the classroom. Romero Britto travelled to Europe in 1983 to examine firsthand the Art of the masters. After exhibiting in a few galleries and private showing, Britto was encouraged to travel to the United States where Pop Art was flourishing. Britto moved to Miami and set up a studio open to the public. With an unshakable resolve and belief in his art, Britto spent the next few years exhibiting and attracting the attention of many. In 1989, Absolut Vodka selected Britto to design an artwork with their famous logo. Britto s participation added his name to a list of Artists, such as Warhol and Haring, also commissioned for the famed vodka campaign. Britto s studio in Miami Beach was quickly becoming known as a place for people of all ages and walks of life to meet and acquire a unique style of art. Romero Britto today is represented in galleries and museums across five continents, from Singapore to Dubai, to London and New York. Opening in Paris at the Salle de Nôtre, Louvre Museum in December 2008, Britto unveiled Journey to hundreds of guests. Matisse channelling Picasso, wrote the New York times when Britto created a living canvas performed by the Cirque de Soleil in celebration of Super Bowl XLI. Romero Britto s works on canvas have found the spotlight in numerous corporate commissions and noted art collections. Also an accomplished portrait artist, Britto s works include likenesses of Ernest Beyler, founder of Art Basel as well as the late Robert Rauschenberg. Britto s works on canvas have evolved into sculpture which can be seen in such broad locales as JFK airport, NY to Hyde Park, London. His diverse resume also includes several series of postage stamp designs for the United Nations Postal Administration. Romero Britto is an artistic activist for charitable organizations worldwide and most of all an artist who believes art is too important not to share. Britto donates to over 200 charitable organizations a year. Not a silent activist, Britto was a selected speaker for the arts at the World Economic Forums in Davos, Switzerland in 2006 and Britto is committed to developing and supporting the powerful role art will continue to play in world issues. A BENTLY GT PAINTED BY BRITTO This automotive masterpiece is being auctioned off on September 12th in Germany and all the proceeds will benefit Best Buddies International and the Nathalie Todenhofer Foundation for multiple sclerosis. It is a grand piece of art created for an admirable cause. 2. FIFA SOUTH AFRICA 2010 In June Britto created and donated South Africa 2010, for FIFA s art collection. Due to Romero s generosity the secretary general of FIFA, Jerome Valcke, announced that FIFA will donate $100, 000 euros to Football for Hope FIFA s honorary charity. 3. ROMERO UNVEILS ROYAL PORTRAIT Their majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sophia of Spain enjoyed some quiet time with Britto at the South Beach Wine and Food festival. Britto presented their portrait, a gift from the festival, at a star studded gala February 19, PAINTING PARTY AUSTRIA JULY 2009 While in Austria, exhibiting at the Tratzberg Castle, Britto takes time out to share his passion for art with the youth of that region. 5. TRATZBERG CASTLE ART SHOW Britto s pop modern artwork on exhibit in the halls of the 500 year old Tratzberg Castle in Austria. 6. ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISES 25,000 sq. ft. pool deck transformed into an outdoor art gallery that guests can literally dive into. Mariner of the Seas
